    HEH!

  • I heard that they change the title of this movie from "The Murderer among us" to "M" because Hitler was coming to power..

  • DUH!! I should have read the intro.

  • Does anyone else notice that the actor portraying the murderer has facial resemblences of Peter Lorre especially when he widens his eyes?

  • Comment removed

  • @dwl066 that guy is peter lorre

  • @dwl066 … That is Peter Lorre …

  • I appreciate this video.

  • Typed. In m this is what I got

  • This is really a classic movie. I'm glad that I speak german so I can enjoy this masterpiece without any subs. :)

  • Crazy we watched this in German class real freaky and an old movie

  • I saw this movie last night. It was one of the most genuinely sad films I've seen. If there's any character who has brought tears to my eyes not long after I think of them, it's Hans Beckert.

  • 69 people have no clue what film means... It's a shame...

  • Creepy even by today's standards Lorie At his best and most depraved.

  • This movie is one of the best I've seen in my lifetime. Not for short attention spans.

  • it must be a very good film, but i can't understand any word.. eins zwei drei fuck...

  • @gdziejestmojpies turn on the CC subtitles. They work fine!

  • Lol all I typed was M

  • God... must have taken ages to upload this (>O,.ó)>

  • Thank you History of Motion Picture class for introducing me to some awesome classics!

  • spanish please!!

  • Uh NO SUBTITLES ?

  • @paixx01 Click the CC button : )

  • Peter lorre has nothing to envy to the actual actors of Hoolywood, just magnificient.

  • The idiots have put subtitles in White color which can not be read in B&W movies. I think they are color blind. I saw the movie for 10 mnts but could not read white words on white background.. they should have made it in black or red or blue, so that people can read duhhh

  • @bhutnathgmail can read them now...they're in greek but still in white....maby there was something wrong at the moment..

  • Fantastic movie

  • great movie. I specialy liked the ending, it was very excitiing. I thought the lawyer was just a drunk, turns out the dude had some skill left.

  • Awesome movie! This is the movie that got Peter Lore noticed in America and on the road to major stardom.

  • spanish please!!

  • fucking great movie

  • der beste Film seit langem..nicht wie dieser ganze Hollywood-mist ... :D deutsche Filme sind eh immer die besten..

  • Ryan brought me here.

  • Superb film making. Not a frame wasted, not an ounce of fat from first to last

  • One of my favorite movies of all time <3

  • Wer ist der Mörder?

  • Great film. Serial killer movies have come such a long way from this, and even then... this one was still done with more creativity.

  • does anybody knows anything about the music he's whistling?

  • @artemisiapersephone "In the Hall of the Mountain King"

  • @123cleanchit thanks!

  • It's a talkie!

  • what language are they speaking in the film

  • @lelieluv3 German

  • my god this movie is so sad. nothing has changed, things have only gotten worse since this time. when the hell are we going to learn to get along with each other?

  • in the first minute can someone send me a translation of the read

  • @420THECRYPTKEEPER You can put the CC button (bottom right) and it will put subtitles in various languages, one of them English

  • @Komond thank you, I figured it out that night but watched a commercial free copy with subtitles anyway, I can't stand the adds, especially when there's 6 adds

    AWESOME MOVIE!!!

I must say I really enjoyed this movie

  • Sure: "Fritz Langs "M" was first released and approved by the Berlin Certification Authority in April 1931 with a total length of 3,208 meters. A shorter, 2,693 meter version was released in 1960 under the title "M, Your Murderer is Looking at You." The orginal negative in the Federal Film Archive is 2,636 meters long. As much as could possibly be accomplished, missing scenes retrieved from historical copies kept the Swiss Cinema and the Dutch Film Museum have been added, making it 2,996 m.

  • What a shame i can't understand german!

  • @05891460 turn on the subtitles you can find the button with the cc on it

  • @earthgirlsareasy Holy crap! Thanks!

  • @earthgirlsareasy no problem

  • guy in picture looks like Bruno Mars lol

  • Comment removed

  • @cb7pwn To the hundreds of commenters who keep saying that Peter Lorre looks like Bruno Mars, check out Google images for Sal Mineo (Rebel Without a Cause, anyone?). Then check out Rebel Without a Cause, another film classic.

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving to be honest, i have NEVER hear of this guy, ever, before seing this video... so its not like im reposting a comment lol

  • @cb7pwn More like a fat Bruno Mars ... :D

  • @cb7pwn You're an idiot and I don't want to live on this planet anymore because of the large number of idiots like you that inhabit'it. "there's a hole in the world like a great black pit and it's filled with people who are filled with shit, and the vermin of the world inhabit it."

  • will this stay free for a while? eg at least a week?

  • @jctrewin yah its been free forever

  • Fritz Lang is the fucking man.

  • I just realized i have the cuckoo clock that the mom looks at in the beginning!

  • The guy on the cover looks like Bruno Mars...

  • I would hate to see this movie remade in any shape or form. This is absolutely the best as it is.

  • @dodgelover57 Actually, they kind of did, in 1951

  • Sorry wrong time stamp.

    GOLEM INSPIRATION AT 1:41:47

HE EVEN SOUNDS LIKE GOLEM FROM LOTR.

  • Golem inspiration at 1:47:47

Golem from LOTR copied him to a T!

  • hi am new here.can some1 pliz tell me how to download movies...........

  • who else typed M to get here

  • i understand how he couldn't help it when he killed those children and i feel bad for him, but i feel bad for the murdered kids too. they were so cute and innocent :'-(( so i'm conflicted as to what his sentence should be.

  • @serpico89 Which is why there was no sentence pronounced - it's left to the viewer to decide. Hmm, where have I seen THAT device used recently (Law & Order???).

  • He's in Hitchcock's "The Man who Knew Too Much" too. He reminds me of Peter Seller's Dr. Strangelove character. I wonder if Sellers studied Lorre for that role...

This is such a great movie.

  • M, is one of the most scariest movies ever made. It was first premiered in 80 years ago. It made a big name for one of the most remembered actors that ever lived Peter Lorre. He played a psychotic Child-Murderer in Fritz Lang's horrifying flick made years before the war. Lorre will later be known in hollywood for starring in many other classics such as The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. & many more until he died in 1964 with his last flick The Patsy with Jerry Lewis.

  • For some reason switching to 720p gives an error. Anyway, thank you for uploading this!

  • The whole underworld of berlin goes after this guy.

  • 51 people wouldn't know great classic cinema if it came up and smacked them.

  • @aeromilagro85 I want to point out how people can have different opinions and just not like some things, even if the things they don't like are objectively incredible. But this is Youtube, so unfortunately your comment makes more sense.

  • Comment removed

  • So is this film still protected by copyright?

  • @untunedguitar45 It's in public domain.

  • @FooFilmOfficial Not anymore

  • great movie, thanks for posting it!!

  • Que lastima que no tenga subtitulos en español

  • Oh yeah, so in 70 years we can watch some quality movies on youtube! *Waits 10 seconds.... meh, fuck this, i'll just go to pirate bay*

  • Deberían poner subtitulos en español, tuve que traducirlo en italiano y aun así no entendí algunas palabras. Buena película.

  • Why Not Chinese!?

  • Very subjective, and very well done! The implications of bringing the law and the breakers thereof is astounding and drives a clear message of accountability. I was thrilled to know that the initial prospects of me enjoying this movie shifted enormously soon after the start. I'm pleasantly surprised, and in awe of the fine work of Mr. Fritz Lang. (Fritz being the tipoff character was interesting!)

  • An absolute masterpiece:

    A lot of thanks !

  • amazing movie from the german master of film. love the final shot of the film, directed at the audience, to point out their own responsibilities to the children. Highly ambiguous film, and a great one at that.

But do you know the thing that affected me the most? I was terrified that the was going to get that first little one. Wanted to stop him.

  • Shit

  • fucking awesome movie... Damn criminals and beggars need to get a pay raise. police please sit at home and bug your dogs.. Did this movie ever get any awards.

  • Now i feel creepy for whistling Grieg's music while i walk around

  • The director, Fritz Lang, made this film before fleeing Germany. His own wife had joined the Nazi party. It is a picture of Germany after WWI that is horrible. The people look like rats. There is nothing glamorous here. The cops and the criminals mirror each other. It seems pretty clearly about what the Nazi party was doing to Germany and is depicted by the actions of a child murderer. Lang broke all kinds of new ground here. Best enjoyed by people comfortable with early film. a masterpiece

  • this film may have been based on a real serial killer in Germany at that time. He and other serial killers at that time were all selling black market meat. They can't say for sure that these victims ended up being butchered for that purpose, but there is a suspicion. This film doesn't touch on any of that. The murder that happens in this film is off camera and takes place through a famous montage: an empty dinner plate/ a balloon caught in electric wires.

  • I got bored and just typed 'M'.

  • @andrey9797 lmao me 2!

  • @flemmy he said he "looks like" sir. You sure cannot understand a joke.

  • @MrZerozed what joke exactly? "looks like" is passing for a joke these days? or was it the calling me a dumb fuck?

  • @Vittoria2175 Not only Casablanca (only one word), but also Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Arsenic and Old Lace and a bunch of other fantastic movies.

  • I love this film .I've seen it 3x and every time you catch something new -some deeper social comment-The end just knocks me off my seat-excellent social commentary.

  • Who are the morons who give a 56 and 42 thumbs up to these moronic comments? This is a great film on a hugely difficult subject, and all they can comment is about Bruno Mars!
