  • You say in this video you haven't got any talent or skills or whatever but in another you say you're bright, intelligent and can probably get a first at uni. Of course a uni first/university as an institution deserevs to be critiqued. It's another factory at the end of the day...but you see what I'm getting at - isn't this more of a question of general confidence and 'sureness' about yourself? On a more general note life is becoming more and more atomized by capital for the whole class.

  • Also, as communists we recognise that life is organised in a way which limits our class creatively, socially, progressively etc through commodity production and repression - the state, private property. There are very real reasons why workers haven't generally got an array of 'talents'. The whole system is based upon this. Communism is for the full development of our abilities, individually and collectively. Would love to hear some marxism in your videos comrade.

  • Just found you, so glad I did. You've inspired me to start making videos.

  • @P4tSte Wow, really? I'm surprised this was the one that did it, lol. I'll have to check you out. =)

  • @BoundlessEyes It wasn't specifically this one, but you and your channel. I'm drunk off your honesty. It won't be from this channel, but I look forward to communicating with you. I've made a few so far and its taking me some time to get used to talking to a little dot. You make it look easy!

  • @P4tSte Mind if I ask what your video channel is called?

  • @BoundlessEyes Just created it. Hello!

  • Good video. You raise some interesting points, especially about how the creation of profiles and videos kind of ossifies your persona at that moment, coming back to haunt you if you change your mind. Try not to be so down. Everyone is insignificant on the grand scale, it's nothing to get upset about! Peace x

  • You sound very insecure. Get some decent clothes, a new haircut and some confidence, stupid.

  • @Mad2k5 This made me laugh out loud. Did you really just call me stupid whilst suggesting that my hairstyle is the problem? *pats you on the head*

  • I often feel the same way about my place on youtube. I know that I was very happy to find your channel, and I still am. Its not everyday I find someone like you. your channel is special to me because you aren't just repeating the same old nonsense, you offer a unique view, and I value that.

  • making videos is a form of protest. stand up and be counted. on All issues.

  • it was the oposite for me new to the net i tried to be more guarded until i realized that other peoples opinions were just that. opinions and i have my image and opinions out there now. perhaps vloging is just a diary that occasionally telly you to shut the fuck up lol or at least gives you feedback. best advice ...dont take youtube to seriously just do it for the (grrrrrr lol) lulz :)

  • By the way, considered Stickam? There've been some really interesting live debates on there. And some "fun."

  • I totally respect your honesty. And I really hate ED (I have an entry made about me, LOL - but that was made by someone who couldn't win a debate against me on livejournal on the vegan-debate community). I'm def. not fatphobic but it says that in my ED page. One of the reasons I haven't made videos is because of all this creepy shit that goes on. Most of the ppl in my day to day life - don't and wouldn't understand my perspectives, it's easier if they don't know them. LOL

  • It amazes me the courage that people have to come on youtube and be honest the way you are. Most people don't do it and you really should be proud of yourself. The scary thoughts you're having are a result of your courage, and will prob'ly make you stronger in the end.

BTW I don't think you've said anything that you could be 'condemned' by and the stalker thing, although possible, is extremely, extremely unlikely. Take care B.E.

  • LOL--I always tend to avoid the vids with the mega viewers. They fuck me off and remind oe of 'winner' and ;loser' mass media propaganda shite. And often the pop vids have all the regular fukin fast-track editing technioques to keep the mofo dumbed down punters 'low attention spans' juiced up

    FUCK EM! HAHA

  • Yes

I remember WHY I began here three years ago. I wanted to discuss philosophy and consciousness...That's still why I'm here, but there is so much other baggage with the package it becomes intolerable...I still have hopes of just discussing philosophy, but...

    Pretty hopeless really.

  • If you believe YT is becoming a danger, I think you should leave. By the way, 400-something active subscribers is still many people. Your depressive thoughts frustrate me sometimes, and I wish you could find what you're looking for. Good luck!

  • Took a year vacation, only recently came back. Your concerns on how things may be taken from others, is one main reason I've been reserved in exposure, and have considerable respect to people like yourself laying ones expressions on the line into the public arena. Seeing my first hater in the channel's comments, kinda spured the break from YT life.

What ever you choose, wish you well, and thanks for the time spent on the reply's you've given to me and the others here.

    JCWolf

  • Come on TJ is still very intelligent and relevant . Life can change so fast and you will forget the lonely time even faster.

  • Connection? BE! Anything that makes you feel like you contribute is OUR value! I watch....I am glad to know there are ppl with something that might be sad, life but think! Thank you for questioning yourself....It is of value!

  • Jess, you're the exact type of person on youtube I don't mind trying to give something positive back to. (Even if I sometimes fail). Does it feel rewarding reading all your positive comments sometimes? I can't imagine how it feels but I'm guessing it might in one way make you feel loved, in another way, even lonelier. But hey, gotta tell ya: I saw TWO disabled people not walking but sprinting in stanmarsh's latest vid :P

  • You're too young to be going through midlife crisis already :P

I feel you feel you know what to do (whatever it exactly is :P). You've done so much already, so give yourself -some- credit, That said, you can't stop now.

If you're ever in Cali, let me know. You can do my hair, too!

  • haha... yeah, I remember AmazingAtheist... Anyway, I dunno who you're basing your ideas of social life on. Maybe it's different in England or you just know some crazy party people, but you don't seem lonely and friendless to me. But then again, I guess it doesn't matter what I think. I just hope that if you are lonely, it's because you feel that way, not just that you think you should.

  • Youtube is a phase for everyone-no one will do it for life. Sometimes I feel like deleting my channel because I feel like an object that people are analyzing, because they don't know me and will never see me for who I truly am. On the other hand I enjoy making videos, it is an art form. You are very honest about your feelings-most people would never admit their insecurities and emotions the way you do, and I can appreciate that.

  • um hello you are not mediocre. and if there is a hay bale rolling through your inbox, then you check your inbox too often! you are not mediocre. you are genuine and interesting. the work you do on YT is important and worthwhile. do you have other ways of feminising? i think i made that word up. but i mean talking about feminism. you could be a collumnist or something, i think you have great thoughts that need to be put out there. do you have a blog?

  • i love your channel. i have thought several times to delete my channel. but then i take a break and am drawn back to it again. yes there are lots of crazy people out there. but fuck them. i think you should be proud of yourself for having the courage to document your thoughts.

  • I don't think you need to worry over doc-dropping, really. Internet tough guys are all talk. And hey, I've been on youtube as long as you if not longer, I've got 43 subs. Not everyone gets hordes, it's as much chance as people's interest in you; if you don't get exposure you don't get subs.

  • Even if you did have massive exposure, you're really in no danger. The people capable of finding you are, generally speaking, the kinds of people that would not be interested in finding you.

Now there could be some sort of viral bullshit that thrusts you into the spotlight, but seriously, the chances of that occurring is slim to nil.

Being that we're your subscribers, the only people you'll negatively affect by leaving is us. Do what feels right for you. Your viewers are not that important.

  • @BoundlessEyes,

Don't think that no one cares for you. I am pretty sure people who do care about you. Stay positive!

  • @BoundlessEyes,

don't think so negatively about your experience on YT. At least when it comes to discussing topics in this forum, you can bring that onto real life conversation, perhaps at a cafe.

cheers for staying put here. thank you;-)

  • The last few seconds of this talk are oddly beautiful, for some reason. It emits a sort of melancholy. It gave me the kind of feeling you might get when you watch a subtle development in an interesting film, which then suddenly cuts to credits and ends.

  • you should check out theAmazingAtheist now. He is a pathetic joke...

  • 400 more subz than me! lol

LOVE YOU HUNNY FOR YOUR PURE HEART!

    P.S. Where's my beer at?

  • you should learn karate. then when a stalker comes you can kickem in the jimmy.

  • Ironically I started watching youtube videos because of an exchange between 'the amazing atheist' , back then he only had 10,000 subs. Personally I think you are being a tad too paranoid, in full knowledge that some paranoia is always a healthy thing. And even though we seem disagree on most issues, we agree on the issues that count, that all people should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness irrespective of their race, gender or orientation. (1 of 5)

  • So lets go through the things we know (1) you are far from a fruit that fell from the ugly tree and hit several branches on the way down. (2) You are intelligent, possess a great deal of empathy for the less fortunate, have moral fortitude, and ethical integrity. Believing "in" what you believe is more important, and of far lasting value than simply believing, because as you have pointed out it give you the insight to change if change is needed. (2 of 5)

  • What you need is more 'self' awareness, and less ego centered awareness. If you were willing to entertain and idea of your self as in reality being 'many selves' this would probably make more sense. But I shall continue anyway. The many selves in you, are looking for leadership in the wrong place, the 'ego'. Nothing is ever good enough, fast enough, strong enough, or rich enough for the ego, for if this were so, it would feel un-throned. (3 of 5)

  • The 'self' in you would tell you that: you are who you are, and they are who they are. The world is unfair, that it will never change, that is its nature. But you can change the world around you, that is in your nature. That self would tell you, you are not alone that you are not unloved, because it is the perfect seat of love. If you are willing to liberate that self and unthrone the selfish, self serving ego. I guarantee your outlook on life will improve. (4 of 5)

  • Sorry if I've bored you, if that is the case just think of it as one of those tracts you pick up on the tube, at least it has occupied time for a few seconds. Be sure to deposit it in the trash receptacle as you exit the train, and be thankful that it was not found by your shoe and made that embarrassing sound as you walk shlip, shlip, shlip, making you even more self-conscious. ;-) (5 of 5)

  • I have been threatened with doc-dropping. I had to come to peace with that. My hubby and I both discussed it, and we decided I was not going to be silenced by a person who was too butt hurt about something said online. I am a watcher of people, and you are one of the few valuable people left on this site imo. I would hate to see you go, but I would understand. I make videos because I don't have a life tbh. I am just sitting around waiting it seems.

  • Hey your a good egg. If u like YouTube , make videos. I like your vids. You met some people on here. Stay away from the jerks on here . You can stll be okay on YouTube .

  • Jess, you are precious. I watch you because you are honest and real. You say what you mean and mean what you say. Being vulnerable opens up the possibility that people will not appreciate that but will use it to try to destroy you. Youtube can be a great place to share ideas, to get to see people evolve and also see what people will do for attention. I wouldn't take what people say

seriously if they bash you, they would never say to your face what they say on youtube..

  • You're a lovely gal. I'm not sure why I originally subscribed to you, but I do appreciate your honesty and I like watching your videos. As far as the negative emails, I would imagine that there are many more people that view you positively than negatively, they just don't let you know. And there are a lot of scumbags on YT that make a living trying to tear people down. Heck, that you have trolls is a sign of your popularity. Chin up, keep up the videos. ;-D

  • To clarify, I'm discussing my changing feelings towards youtube, I'm not telling you I'm done. Not yet, anyway.

  • @BoundlessEyes Phew, that's a relief!

  • I don't ever comment either, but I will really miss you. You're one of my all time favorite people on youtube and I always loved hearing your opinions. XOXOXO Stay safe.

  • youtube is a bad gage for personal reflection, I do heartfelt vids and get five views but a vid about streaming youtube gets me 400+ views

    it's all a attention economy

  • :( i feel sorry for you .

  • I've been subscribed for quite a while but haven't really commented much because I'm, like, uber shy, although I have to say that you're probably my favourite youtuber in that you seem more honest than most and put forward interesting ideas, etc. I'd be very sorry to see you go.

  • I wouldn't exchange you tube for anything. Because: 1/ you 'meet' people to 'talk' to. 2/ it's a challenge and you have to collect your thoughts and make a coherent video. 3/ through you tube you get an audeince and meet people. 4/ if you watch other peoples videos, you learn new things about other countries, politics, etc.

At least that's what I get from YT. But it won't replace reading books and having a real life. One has to learn to balance these two things and get the best of both.

  • I'm relatively new to You Tube and discovered your channel recently. I just wanted to say I enjoy your calm sanity and hope to hear from you often. I was deeply touched by the "Girl Like Me" clip you linked in a previous video and if it wasn't for you I would never have likely seen it. It has become a topic of discussion between myself and my friends in the offline world. So thank you. Your impact reaches farther than you know. Your accent is just a bonus. : )

  • Well, I like your videos.

  • "..this is bullshit!"..

    lol!

  • sparkly top!

you certainly have the right to change you mind :-) you'd be a strange person if you didn't.

the BBC had an interesting article last week on cyberstalking and harassment. google "BBCCyberstalkers threatened with a crackdown"

  • If you meet even one or two friends youtube is worth it IMO. Even if you are only friends for a while it is still an experience you wouldn't have otherwise.

As far as people recording you etc., you can't let people emotionally blackmail you. Especially people you don't even know. Don't let people you don't give a fuck about or know dictate what you can or can't enjoy.

  • If the purpose was ego-stoking, then it's not surprising that it failed, even with 400 people's support. You would need ever-increasing numbers to sustain that. It's failure says nothing about the quality of your videos. The solution can't be to find some other superficial method, because that will fail eventually, too. Maybe you can cultivate pride in your academic accomplisments?

  • You seem to not think very highly of yourself. Do you think lowly of the rest of society? Who do you hold in high regard? Why?

  • Hi Jess, We had our E-Battles in the past, I actually enjoyed em because of your stance on issues, and I learned a lot from you. The tubes have changed since then, I always enjoyed your input, even if I didn't agree, it's a shame that it can't just wait on the tubes, I wish you well. respect.

  • Hi BoundlessEyes, I only recently stumbled upon your videos by fluke and just wanted to say I really 'enjoy' (for lack of a better word) watching your videos and hearing your views about feminism/equality, society & life in general. I don't watch other youtubers or videos tackling similar topics, and I'm glad to have found you. For what its worth ur vids are the first I watch from my sub list, you really get me thinking. And hey, haters gonna hate, f**k 'em! All the best hun! Jo :)

  • well this nutter is on your side. Though I mostly sleep so I don't see what good I am.

  • I wouldn't worry about these things. As long as you are not running for political office, you'll be fine ;) Keep your chin up.

  • Inasmuch as YouTube can often be considered 'performance art,' the best artists have usually continued their work out of an inner compulsion - or, in other words, 'because they HAVE to.' You began with such a compulsion, but perhaps no longer feel 'compelled.' Question then comes down to "Are you here to make a difference?" or "Are you here to entertain?" - there are likely other options, too, which I'm sure you can figure out...

  • you have to do what seems right, but i will say that there is no doubt your videos would be missed by many people if you stopped making them. they have forced me to think about a lot of subjects in ways that never would have occurred without your input and i am grateful for the intellectual stimulation. when good channels like this close they tend to leave a big hole - even through a somewhat impersonal medium like youtube you still become a valuable part of peoples' lives somehow.

  • obviously you wouldn't be making these videos if you didn't get some sort of satisfaction from them. so if you enjoy it, keep doing it. i'm guessing that you enjoy venting feelings and thoughts in these videos that you can't really say to people in real life. it might help you to know that when you do express yourself in these videos, it does help some people like me who feel like no one else in the world can really understand them. so you are doing something good for some people

  • ...well you can always pick up the sex advices business.

YT is the wrong medium for communicating. Try blog tv or sticam for that with a selective list of friends.

i mean what did you expect?

95% of the views on youtube are meaningless videos fromcar accidents to music videos, from the rest 5% 99% are fred like videos, and from the rest 1% 99% are AA kind of videos.

if those are representative of the mentality of future generations voters, then we can safely conclude that human race is doomed.

  • @amet1980 first part in refference to laci green.

  • @amet1980 enjoy You Tube while you can.

This is the last stand for FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

I am sure our politicians with pressure from Islamic groups will eventually close this medium down.

Its just a matter of time

  • Anyway. Lonliness is a mental state, you can be in a hall full of 1,000 people and feel utterly alone, or you could live in a small community of only 20 people and never want for human contact.

  • My sentiment would be, who cares? If doing videos is beneficial for you in some capacity, do them. Who cares about the crazies? I ignore them. I mean and if you think about it, there's just as much "danger" IRL...someone can stalk you just like online...in both cases, you just don't let it bother you, deal with it and move on. Otherwise the worry will eat you up.

  • @fulishproductions I mean I'd rather expose myself flagrantly, and bring on all the consequences that implies, than constantly hide myself for fear of some future bad mystical thing happening. I will not live in constant fear just because that's how I was raised, or because that's what everyone does; I simply refuse.

  • @fulishproductions *to live that way

But in all I think you're a very valuable voice, so..I hope you can find time to stay :P

  • AA used to be cool.

I remember that he once summed up my feelings so comopletely. The video where he said he wished he lived on a space station so that he could still view the world and interact with it, but would have some sort of excuse for feeling so lonely and disconnected.

Why doesn't he talk like that anymore?

  • @Beelzeboogie Notice how he changed when he became a 'partner?'

  • You have nothing to fear Jess. No one is going to hert you.

You have not offended anyone. So dont worry.

    Keep making those videos

  • If you don't feel like making videos then you don't have any obligations to make more. I'm glad you started making them in the first place, or I wouldn't have a good friend right now. :) I obviously feel you have a lot to contribute and I watch all the vids you make, I wouldn't just forget you. *hugs*

  • I'm really sorry, I was actually encouraging you to share because it's inspiring how you've been through so much worse. I'm unsure of how many other people can connect with what you say(or their interpretation of what you say).

Internet friends are better than no friends.

That's the position I'm in. Isolation - both physical and social.

Communication, talking. At least at the moments when it's happening, you feel less lonely.

  • I understand. Completely and utterly.
