well I recognised quite a few of those photos and horses - to name but a couple, you've got Balla Chrystal, Earnshaw Ideal (I used to be his groom!), and Walton Supreme :) Check out ukshires.net too :)
I wonder if they are so mellow is because they are aware of their own mass and power. A human, 1 on 1 could stand no chance against such power. I do stand in awe of these animals.
@JustMeOrMaybeNot I work with draft horses almost every day, and one of the funny things about them is that They have no idea just how strong They are,
How beautiful! Loved your video! I've always wondered what their temperaments were like, since they're so big and all. It's nice to know they're mellow! lol
Beautiful video--thanks for posting. I just noticed an uncanny face resemblance to face profiles of old style Tennessee Walking Horses. Although Tennessee walking horses don't claim to carry draft horse blood, I often wonder when I look at my 17h TWH mare. I've seen a few other TWH reach that height, as well.
They're so pretty! My husband wants a Shire, but we already have a Clyde and all I can see are 4 more fluffy white feet to keep mud and burr free, and brushed out.
Oh, thank you so much for posting this. I love the Shire at 5:12 that's rolling around, lol. Does anyone know the name and/or the artist of this song? I love it! : D
The Shire we have at this Equdae I work for is just the most loving horse I've ever come across. I have somewhat long hair and he loves to chew on it, lol. If you stand by his head he'll turn into you and 'hug' you.
When I need my shire horse fix I come here, thanks for the sharing, only trouble is the tears come fast and furious, , at their beauty and also at my lack of them in my life. God bless to those who love and honour these wonderful creatures.
I love all horses with feathering around thier feet, it's so cool. Shires are one of those horses that you don't make the mistake of putting your foot under thiers more than once.
Since Youtube changed the audio, I won't say anything about it. Nice collection of pics though.
I KNOW! you're absolutly right! i had an other song first, but youtube let me change it because of that stupid copyright ! i am going to change it ! youre right
hello and greetings from Austria. I like your videos very well, we also have horses Shirer. our joe 18.5 hh. if you like, look at oaklandshirer. we also have horses for sale, please can you send me a mail.
Is the sabino horse in the fifth picture a full shire?? I swear he is the twin to my horse which is a draft mutt, but I have been thinking he had clydesadale or shire in him, to be the color he is. This is the first horse I have found that even comes close to looking like my horse and he looks exactly like him. I love all the pics!!
Isn't it a lot of work and money to own horses? I like horses, but I shouldn't get one in the near future cause of all the responsibility, I'm used to rodents and dog pets
Thats a very sensible outlook to have, yes it is alot of hard work and money! I have 5 horses and I see to them 365 days a year, Christmas Day I get up and muck out, feed and groom before making a start on the dinner!! Too many people just go ahead and buy a horse without really thinking about it, so well done you for stopping and actualy thinking about it!
And aren't you supposed to have some insurance on a horse? I don't think I shuold have a horse on my own at least, you have to hire a farrier just to work on their feet
Yes it's vital that you at least have insurance against vets bills, one pony I used to look after got kicked badly and at the end of his treatment the bill was almost £4000. If he wasn't insured he would of had to of been put down. Farrier's don't come cheap now either!! I pay £50 for a set of shoes and they last just under 4 weeks, but every horse is different. As the age old saying goes, No hoof, no horse! I would urge anyone who is thinking of buying a horse to think very carefully!! :)
I've trained many horses but never a dog so I wouldn't know how to answer that really! I guess again it depends on the breed and temperament of the animal. I know some dogs are more crazy than others and the same goes for horses! For example, it took me 2 weeks to break in a horse for riding once, and another horse took nearly 10!
Shires are beautiful horses and so gentle to humans. I had a shire and he was like a 1400kg kitten. I promise you that if he could he would sit in my lap =)Luckily he didn´t try.
I´m a really petite girl and always feel really small but when I galoping on the countryroads with my "kitten" I feel like the king of the world. Respect =D
They both come in the same colors, but the best way to tell the difference is the snouts. Shires have the roman nose or snouts shaped like tucan beaks :-)
