Joe says "you don't blame anyone for the rusted engine." Yes you do, Joe, you blame the operator of the vehicle who hasn't maintained it. The operator of the rusted education engine? Government and unions.
Hey Joe dumbass, that's why we need good teachers, to TEACH them, get the addendum and corrections for the book, it also wouldn't be hard to send a damn email with changes instead of bitching about how the books are out of date.
It's funny because the guy on the end there seems like he's about to form a cohesive thought, you can feel it...but then it all falls apart and he just says "kindle" or "battery charger" and throws out some other words to make it sound like he's making a point.
I *love* the answer around the 40 minute mark. The question/talking point is so blatantly manipulative and flimsy. She takes it head-on from a POV that suburban school choice opponents simply don't have.
No wonder the Chicago schools are so screwed up... Even the establishment opposition is clueless... "Da Mayor" is in bed with the unions... These guys only do things to give the appearance of making a difference. If the charter schools are still unionized, how are we fixing the problem? That's like transferring the priest to stop the sexual assault of children - relocating the problem
.
Joe Trippi: um er ah.. Well, he has a point to make.. um but... ahh.. kindle.
I honestly think that there needs to be schools that offer what suits the students level of advancement. I know that now days everyone wants to be rock stars and movie stars, but once your done your done and you can't really do anything else, either more classes in schools, or early graduation should be offered. It is sad that the US has fallen so far from where we were.
@Buergs323 It is hard to defend an obvious disaster or something everyone knows is a lie. You have to be either really stupid and deluded or have Carville level skills of mendacity.
21:10 - Smart guy, Patrick. "The problem solves itself very quickly once you have a few good demonstrations". Absolutely. As a promoter of libertarianism in the UK, I argue for Special Administrative Regions within the UK. You don't need a landslide democratic victory for a libertrian party, you just need a few people to look up at a SAR and go "Hey look, Milton Friedman was right!". Even better if those SARs prosper in a previsouly impoverished area. e.g Hong Kong.
12:50 - I paraphrase but... "The systems not broke it just needs cleaning up and redesigning by a huge committee of vested interests". How many times have I heard that. What's the obsession with asking the parents, teachers, governors. As Henry Ford said "If I asked my customers what they wanted I would've built a faster horse". Steve Jobs never asked me what kind of phone I wanted; just an incentive to get it right.
Throw your government battery away and buy yourself a copy of "Which Battery?"
Nice guess

Who is the idiot on the end with the blue shirt and red tie? How does this buffoon have a job anywhere?
He's a rabbling idiot that makes no sense. I am yet to hear ONE cohesive thought out of this guy.

The guy on the right side of the panel was rambling. Made this otherwise strong panel weak.

There is only 1 way to "fix" schools. Get the government out of it. Very simple.

Gov't Education is redistribution!
Should my neighbors force me to work (enslaving me) to pay for their child's education?
Is that "justice"?
Is that "fair"?
Is that "responsible"?

That democratic strategist was an idiot...not because he was a democrat...but, he was just poorly spoken.

not me, she's cute huh, must be puerto rican, I heard "rebecca huffman" and I was like huh? Huffman? Then I realized oh she's married.
None of them seem like the brightest people out there, but some how they make their way to the top.
The guy at the end should have just said "kindle" and left it there, poor guy could not get out even ONE cohesive thought in these 58mins...
