@Lightstryder I have answered this before in some of the earlier comments. I had forgotten my car mat that I use, but I can assure you, ALL holes are refilled and the area is made to look nice. Thanks for looking at my videos and the concern we all share for refilling holes.
You can't buy my digger, it was hand made by me over 30 years ago..I have only scratched three coins in my career...all were done by the screw driver method..never scratched one with my personal digger..
You scare me the way you sling that digger :) I'd be afraid to nick something really bad, but I'm sure you have lots of practice with it. Is that type of digger still available? It looks pretty good. I use a Leche...but yours pulls out dirt better.
@DatIceKing ..Hmmmm..I can assure you I was, I have been at this for 30+ years now . In this park you do not want to draw attention to yourself, so never get too excited, I made that mistake when i first started the hobby, it cost me several good finds, when others started detecting the site.
Wow , nice finds. I found a 1798 draped bust last weekend. Unfortunately, it is no where near as nice a shape as yours. You must be a seasoned detectorist, as you didn't even get excited about the silver. Nice video.
LOL..I have been at this since 1989...so, I guess you can say I am 'seasoned" I have found a lot of silver over the years, and I actually expect silver every outing. It doesn't happen every time, but it's the old stuff that excites me now.
This area of this park has been hunted hard for years, by myself and a few friends. It isn't a secret. None of the places I show on videos are secret places anymore. When I first started hunting these sites, I was pretty tight lipped about it though.
Nice find..I'd kind of keep it under wraps though and only tell friends and collectors as being you found that in a park the city or state could try to take it XD. I have a old sheriff's badge that my former county is been after..They wanted to put it in their historical society but I ain't lettin' her go XD.
WOW that was a great find i'm really into coin collecting especially the large cents you found, but other then that i have no clue how to use the detector thingie. Thanks for putting this up i will check out the hardware costs....
OK fellow 2500 user! I need some advise if you dont mind. #1 When using the pinpointer built into the garrett, would you agree that the target is directly UNDER the smallest circle directly in the center of the coil? I find myself digging directly under the center and almost always have to dig wider and wider to find the target. #2, Would you say the the Imaging is 100% accurate? It seems to me to be a bit off at times. thanks and HOLY crap! I wanna find a coin like that ! Thanks & HH
Question #2. The imaging is not 100% accurate. On some of the real old coins (1700's) I have found the imaging to be slightly erratic. On a sweep of the target, it may be bigger than a coin, and then on the return sweep it may be coin sized, that is why I always recommend digging ANY suspicious target, you will no doubt dig some trash, but it's a small price to pay for a beautiful find. I have found the imaging to be 95% accurate. Depending on soil condition and trashiness of the area. Good Luck
Good questions..and congrats on picking a great machine..Question #1...Yes...you are right..I have found that if I dig a small hole the same size as the center circle on the black coil, 99% of the time the coin will be there in that area....Pinpointing isn't an exact science, but for the most part, dig a 4" circle, and you're safe.
Normally I do use a piece of plastic, my other videos show that. On this day, in the rush to go, I forgot it. The dirt was re-scattered and the ground was leveled. I do take care in my detecting and have respect for the land. Time is limited on these videos, and showing 5 min of ground repairs is boring but trust me, you'd be hard pressed to find someone that cares more for the land we use. But thanks for your comment, and we ALL should leave the grounds in better shape than we found them.
LOL...I have to credit my digging tool....the handle is longer than typical so I can get decent leverage and I try to keep the digging edge sharp. The dirt I not bad in this park either...I have practically tilled it by hand over the years myself!
I hunt exclusively now with a Garrett GTi 2500..Some of my earlier finds were with a Garrett Groundhog. The GTi 2500 is a very customizable machine with excellent depth. I have had it since 2000.

Thanks! I am really trying to get this down to a better product, some of the guys on these detecting videos are pretty darn good..I hope to be as good soon.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful. But why don't you put that dirt on a towel? Then put all the dirt in the hold with the grass plug on top. There's no way that hole will be level with the ground plus there will be a dead spot. Your target recovery is how I would dig in a bean field not a nice park. Non the less you made some absolutely great finds.

I usually don't.....But on the first shovel full in that park, it is usually trash. But you are right, a good coin certainly can be damaged with that habit. Thanks.
Well I think I found a new hobby!

We can dig in our public parks, as long as we have a permit. I have one.

Great finds, but I've gotta say that if I dug like that at out local parks, detecting would be outlawed really quick.
