  • Healthy exercise is encouraged, purging is not. I doubt our therapists would "get mad" at you for purging, but they'd certainly work with you to discover the underlying causes of your eating disorder and to help you develop better coping mechanisms.

  • can you exercise there and do they get mad at you if you purge (when to a place and got kicked out for doing so)

  • Looks nice. Tuscon is so hot every time ive been there to visit my grandpa :p

  • this sounds so wonderful

but it probably costs a shitload of money :(

I already feel guilty for going to a private college and going to therapy every week. :( My parents pay for everything and I have a very meek job at my school right now. And I'm already blowing their money on my meal card at school to keep up with my binging.

  • Mirasol is no more expensive than most other residential treatment centers, but you more for your money. Treatment could be less expensive in the long run if your health continues to deteriorate (which it will if you don't stop purging). If you really can't do residential treatment right now, check out eating disorder support groups, trusted friends and family members -- anything that can get you started on the road to recovery.

  • how much is it? once i'm 18 I will consider treatment I've suffered from anorexia and bulimia for over five or six yeras now. my aprents don't support me what so ever.

I'm scared to get help, and we don't have proper insurance...

I'm nervouse to get help for my eating disorder.

  • If i'm 18 would I be considered an adult? I have done residential treatment for the last 8 months and am still struggling and need to find another way to get the help I need. I can't handle another adolescent program though...

  • At age 18, you would definitely be considered an adult. Mirasol has two 10-bed residential treatment centers -- one for girls ages 12 to 17, and one for adults ages 18 and up. There's a virtual tour of the adult unit on this page.

  • @nikita

Hi. I'm sorry to bug you, but I'm a teenager, 15 years old, suffering from an eating disorder. Three years ago I was put in a psychiatric unit for attempt of suicide, and I absolutely hated it there. I guess what I'm trying to say is, they treated me like I was 3 years old, and talked down to me as if I were crazy. Pretty much what I'm asking is, (continued)

  • @nikita you said you couldn't handle an adolescent program for eating disorders, right? Well, is a treatment center anything like what I described for kids my age? Is that the reason you wouldnt have wanted to take part of it? My father wants me to consider it but I'm dead afraid of going back into one of those places.

  • I went to this exact location, and although I relapsed, I am doing SO WELL now. I am so thankful for Mirasol.

  • Wow...looks like a beautiful place. I feel so relaxed just looking at it on here. Can imagine how relaxing it would be if I were there...

  • It is a beautiful place to heal ... but not necessarily "relaxing"! Recovering from an eating disorder takes hard work, commitment and a lot of loving support.

  • Ya, I can imagine it would be hard to relax as I am trying to recover from anorexic myself and look after a 2.5 year old daughter as well. It is anything but easy...
