I think the war is necessary. Regardless of anyone's feelings on how we got in or how it's been handled so far, the grim truth is that pulling out now will embolden extremists. "Staying the course" provides many more benefits than pulling out. Yes - our men and women in uniform are dying, but this is a risk we were willing to take when we volunteered to join the military. If there were a draft, my feelings would be much different.

There is no quick solution to the situation in Iraq.. I don't know how many combat patrols I've been on.. cleared two sections of Ramadi and all of Ar Rutbah.. the way the Iraqi people (who are innocent people) are treated is sub-human and vile.. we are creating a new generation of terrorists that have a founded cause and will strike us with no mercy.. all we can do is wait.. What branch of the service did this guy serve in and what role did he play in Operation Iraqi Freedom? Was he patrolling the streets of Baghdad or was he a cook on a navy vessel who never saw combat? Both are "Iraq vets." Would you value his opinion any differently if he were the latter?

Eli Israel was a Soldier, a JVB Protective Service Agent, and a Sniper with the U.S. Army who had been in Iraq for a year (running over 250 combat missions). He was no cook, he saw plenty of combat.

Thank you. I ask because I am an Iraq vet as well and my opinion is quite different than his. I have seen plenty of combat as well, but mostly in the air (much less dangerous). Does that make my opinion less valid? I have plenty of respect for Mr. Israel and what he's done. This is really a question for his audience and has nothing to do with disrespect, though I'm sure it will be construed as such.

I have two questions, what are your feelings on the war, and are you at all bothered by the fact that the Iraq Parliment decided to take more than a month off while our troops are still dying just because its hot in Baghdad?

As for the Iraqi parliament - I think it's arrogant to expect the Iraqis to set up an "instant democracy." Look at how long it took for the U.S. to set up ours - and we didn't have to live in constant fear of attack while we were doing it (after the war that is). Training a new government and a new military is hard work - it's going to take a lot of time and they are going to screw up along the way.

@Liqsta I was there and "Eli", or whatever name he is using these days, never saw any combat. He was in my battalion. The 1/149th IN. His'platoon was in charge of escorting the celebrities around the BIAP (airport). He never was a sniper. He was a pain in the ass that was passed around from one company to another when the leadership just couldn't take him anymore. He would spend all day in front of the mirror if he could have. He is a liar.
