  • i feel sad even if i watchted the first video today, but japanese is really a great language. Ruhe in Frieden.

  • i remember watching this when he first uploaded it and i was so sad i was like swan noooooo stay in japan he was the only jvlogger i was watching at the time and i was so envious of swan because he was living his life the way he wanted too good times good times

  • sigh... not really any youtubers like this one. well i enjoyed him while he was here

  • I never thought I would feel so attached and sad by someone's death even though I never met him in person. He still has an impact on his viewers, even after he has passed.

  • rodger i know u cant read this but i will type it anyway i just finished the tokyo swan episodes and it....it was real fun u are awesome and guarantee u that there will be more and more ppl that will come here and watch this video and all the others and say " WOW why didnt i find this video 2 years ago this guy is awesome" so i guess wat i am trying to say is that u really inspire me to keep going even when i want to stop learning japanese so i can go an live my life there like i wanted 4ever

  • Growth to Death!

  • I am writing Swan a sonata to express my appreciation ...

    a great great person.

  • I'll miss you, your amazing personality and wonderful videos... you always made my day brighter. And to his family, know your in my prayers... I'm so sorry for your loss. He was an amazing man.

  • weird to watch this now......RIP man...i wish i had watched his vids sooner..

  • Comment removed

  • I think if we keep watching his videos maybe it'll feel like he's still here.

  • @RizingBlackSun

Yeah man I know how you feel. Its still too hard to believe..

  • i love irene to lol

  • It just dawned on me how much of irene is in the show, man she really meant allot to you.

  • hey big O music in the end, brick of ballades

  • what program do you use to make your videos?

  • Thanks for your candidness. I really believe that travelers can have a positive influence on the countries they visit, and that countries can have a benefit on them. It looks like your study abroad has had a positive effect on you. I think you come off as an overall good person, and your good nature is reflected in your viewers earnest, and unusually articulate comments. I have lived/traveled in a few countries in my life, but can particularly relate to your feelings about japan. All the best!

  • lol boston is not boring

  • I just watched all your 46 videos in the span of 2 days! i must say the final one made me quite sad i felt like ive gotten to know you over the past 2 days lol weird. But thankyou you swan, your vids gave me a real insight into what japan is like.

  • I want to thank you for your awesome videos, enjoyed it a lot, I definitely made up my mind that i also want to go to Japan for sure.i came across your videos on youtube and watched them all in about 2 days, crazy huh!

take care and greetss from the Netherlands.

  • i just want to thank you or everything u have done and shown us one o the best video ever

thanks for bringing shenmue to us

  • 2:31 is that underground by haruki murakami on the bookshelf in the background?

  • correct, there's actually quite a few murakami books in there, I have all his works translated in english.

  • a michigan swan would be awesome you should film it in Flint!

  • uhm... Are you going back to Japan?

  • currently in the process of applying for a teaching job in japan for next year... so yes!

  • how exciting!!

  • Good, your done.

NOW COME BACK TO SEGA-16 DAMMIT!

  • Do more videos, I'll be watching.

  • 0.52 OMG OMG OMG thats luke!! he came in to our japanese class today to talk to us about japan and said subcribe to you haha

  • really haha? woah that's awesome!

  • yeah it was really great, he said you were a great guy :P he seems awesome too, im planning on doing the JET scheme as well but i have many years ahead lol, just on question our class is going to japan on the 29th of october and i was wondering did you experience any extreme weather at that time? like typhoons i mean if you could comment back it would help soo much :P thanks again! and i did subscribe just like luke said lol

  • cool, actually the weather should be fairly nice when you go, it won't be as hot as it surely is now and it never gets too cold in the winter (at least tokyo doesn't). judging from what i know about what luke has said about the weather in your neck of the woods, i think it should be very enjoyable. thanks for subscribing!

  • awesome!! murakami haruki!

  • Murakami Haruki is AMAAAZZZING.

  • 日本を忘れないでね

  • thank you soo much for showing me a glimpse of life in tokyo :) looking forward to any future videos that you do :D

  • YOU SHOULD MAKE VIDEOS OF THE U.S. FOR JAPANESE SUBSCRIBERS YOU HAVE!!!!! And keep doing horror reviews!!

  • how did i miss this !?!?

rogerswan is probably the best all around channel on youtube (editing, content, variety, background music, etc.) and that is hard to be good when you arent a comedy channel.

    keep up the good work

  • Very true.

  • hey rodger

    very nostalgic vid

in retrospect, tokyo swan has also created potential spin-offs for tokyo luke and tokyo kris...=D

greetings from the land down under

    wish all is well~!

  • Wow. I've watched most of your videos and never commented but its been fun and interesting watching! Its gonna suck not seeing any more vids from Japan. Good luck with everything!

  • I enjoyed watching tokyo series, thanks for sharing your insight and experiences there, shame your year there is over hahaha. stay cool

  • it's pretty sad that your experience in Japan and all that is over now..i enjoyed this series, and hopefully you go there again soon in a couple of years and make a second series..look forward to more J-Horror Reviews too..

    ja mata!

  • amazing swan excellent job with ending and i hope you make more horror reviews oh ya watch out for my reviews on video games etc comeing soon

  • this is a really lovely clip. i loved the ending so much. perhaps sentimentalized in a good way by the nostaligically beautiful sax, it was very emotional & atmospheric. it's interesting how movies call up déjà vu-like feelings in viewers minds each-to-their-own way. i haven't been to japan, but i could somehow relate to the scenes in it.

tokyo swan 44 brought me to feel as if i actually knew that a horde of them run 2 seconds before it starts to rain like they got instinct. ty for nice vids!

  • PLEASE don't stop making your J-Horror reviews. i'm a big fan and trust your well articulated and concise opinions.

so come on, make some more. for me?

  • Get your ASS back to Tokyo, kid! One (1) more year of College in Michigan and you are gone! Gone to the world as you know it; back to Japan as you remember it; a new beginning in the life of Rodger Swan! It is all for you to be your own!

  • I LOVE this episode. I can see you put a lot of work on this one. Great job. And yeah always see you next time! :D

  • dude i loved your vids thanx so much,

i hope to hear from you soon

  • Wow... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Like Nycea2501 I also found you a little after the beginning through your J-Horror reviews. An occasional new review would be neat.

  • weird how that happens isn't it?

  • All good things must end. Look forward to your new videos.

  • I didn't get a chance to see the video before now... Boy is it good! And it at least makes me very excited and happy to hear that you'll continue to make videos.

    You rule!

  • Can't wait to see you when you get back :) call me!

  • ur pretty cute! lol thanx

  • Good luck to you!

  • you rule thanks for the 8 minutes o joy in my day

  • Thanks for sharing all your vids <3!!

    I know it must be hard leaving a place you love ;~;

  • you could see your emotional but it gave the whole episode that great vibe, loved every video you have done and keep up the great work, hopefully i may go to japan one day (i hope) also if you do any movies so u can do stuff in the US im from UK so it would be annoying to see, so you are going back in september??

  • Great to hear that you may be making more videos, and honestly that was an amazing finally to the tokyoswan series. I am looking forward to your next excursion into youtube.

  • You just had to bring a tear to my eye didn't you?

    Take care..

  • Thanks mate great series, now I don't feel like I'm walking blindly into my exchange program next semester...

  • Great final, i enjoyed watching your series quite a lot. And i support the continuation of the horror reviews, they were really good. Got me into some movies i wouldn`t have heard of otherwise. Anyway, keep making videos. Best wishes from germany.

  • cool vids :D me and my friends form lithuania watched every episode and truely ejoed it so hope you will make new movies and form everyone that is watching your show we say "SEE YOU NEXT TIME " :]

  • Enjoyed your videos. Thanks for sharing. :)

  • SWAN SONG! Sayonara Tokyo! Hello Michigan (boring)! A swan w/out water is like a swan w/out beauty. Hurry back Swan-san, before there are no more swan left afloat in your cinematic dream. Why were you were walking toward the ending of the film...?! Was it allegory or irony?

  • these videos rocked !.

    Thanks man !

  • thank you swan for all the experiences that you shared, i never thought we're the same age, ^-^

  • you seem like a cooler person now.

  • Thanks for making your videos and giving us a glimpse into your year, sorry to see your adventures in Japan come to an end. Hopefully you have tons of b-roll you can make a few more episodes from.

  • I really enjoyed watching your videos and just want to say thanks for letting us be part of your tokyo experience. I look forward to seeing some of your future shows. Godspeed.

  • your hair has gotten way better. do not go back to the fro haha. and this series has been amazing. thanks a ton for letting us share japan with you

  • you had a great run and gave me a knowledge of Tokyo that i would not of been able to have otherwise

    cheers mate

  • I really enjoyed watching you swan, it was very interesting and amusing! I hope to see more of you in the future :)

  • I just want to say Rodger, the videos were great. I'm glad we had the opportunity to see what life was like for you in Tokyo and share some of you experiences. It's sad that this is the end for TokyoSwan. Thank you Rodger, best of luck on the new stuff. If you ever come to Norway, hit me up! I would love to meet you ;-)

    Cheers,

    Matt

  • I just want to say that your videos were great. I hope you had a great time in Japan and I want to thank you for all the great episodes you've made.

  • It's amazing to the fact that now your home after living in japan for awhile and everyone you had met, you left behind, for awhile. (I'm really hoping you go back and see Sam. You two are so silly.)

I started watching Cooney, about two weeks ago? One of his vids led me to you. I had watched pretty much all your vids. And ya you have changed, but then again you have matured even more. And, you also inspired me to try to study in Japan. You made it took like total fun. And I'll still be watching!

  • I also came back from Japan 3 days ago (i stayed only 2 weeks though). It was an amazing experience and i really can't wait to come back. Thank you Rodger Swan for your great episodes!!!

  • that super cool that you are still going to make video i cant wait to see them

  • Thanks for all of the great episodes! Good luck with your future endeavors!

  • Your series kept me patient for my wait until i go to Japan, they were powerful insights into life in Tokyo and in Japan.

    Thank you Swan!

  • Your videos are so amazing. Make me really consider about studying aboard in Japan. I have a few years to pave my way towards it. =]

  • Wow man it is hard to believe that you are done with the tokyo vids. But I can't help but think that with all your videos that you've made that you can most likely can watch at any time. And taking account all the amazing experiences you've had. I wonder if in the back of your mind you are trying to figure out how to get back to Tokyo. I know I would. And if that is so, I think I speak for many in saying that would awesome. Thanks Swan you've really inspired a lot of people, including me.

  • Roger, I really want to express my appreciation for the great work you've done throughout the year on this show. I've been following it almost from the beginning and have enjoyed every episode. It's a shame I didn't get a chance to meet you and express my gratitude in person when I visited Luke in February. However, if you ever visit Luke in England, I'm only a few doors down so make sure you say hi! Best of luck for the future, and I look forward to any later videos you may decide to make! x

  • NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Your videos where the best. I will still be watching your new videos and i am sure that they will be just as good. I hope you make your way back to japan some day.

  • Thanks for making Tokyo Swan! You're 21? I am too. Must be nice living in Japan at that age :D. I lived there as a kid from 1st to 6th grade. I miss being there.

  • Aw I'm so sad to see the last video. I've LOVED your video's Rodger. They've been great and a lot of fun. :) I'm glad you're going to keep the vlog going. :D You're only twenty-one? I thought you were at least twenty-three! Aw loved seeing all the other people in your video collage like Irene, Sam and some of the others. :D Oh you should post the links of those you knew in Japan who has a Youtube channel. :D

  • Thanks so much for the series. It's in part thanks to your channel that I've decided to soon start adding my own videos. Looking forward to your new the direction you decide to take your channel in. Thanks, again. :)

  • Very Shenmue-esk with the saxofone dere...

Dude, you know you rule and your vidz will probably always be more entertaining than mine and even though you are out of the country now we are still and always will be the Young Japan Youtube rivals ;)

  • Thanks for the great episodes!!! It will be sad that there will be no more weekly swan episodes to enjoy but I guess all good things must come to an end at some time or another. Believe it or not you have taught me more about Japan than I could ever read in a book. I feel like I've visited the country without ever having been there.

I look forward to future swan updates. It will be exciting to see how you are doing and what wonderful things you have accomplished.

    Until next time...

  • Dude, I really do hope you keep on making videos. You could still do Japanese horror reviews or anime reviews or something related to Japan. You do such things rather well.

Anyway, good luck with your senior year. Who knows? After you graduate, you could very well come back to Japan. But even if you don't, I'll keep watching.

  • Going to miss watching you're videos. If I am half as good as you are with you're videos, I will be lucky .

  • You should start reviewing anime shows?

  • Fantastic series, man.

    Best of luck to you.

  • I command you to make more videos. You must.

  • i'm gonna miss japan welcome home big brother

  • sir, thank you very much for taking the effort on these videos. i was wondering how you feel about being part of peoples lives that you will never meet. just remember that no matter how alone you feel, from now on there will always be people out there who care.

  • It's really sad to see Tokyo Swan end! But I do look forward to your next video project, whatever it may be XD.

Also, there's a new Boogiepop light novel out. Boogiepop At Dawn. I just picked it up yesterday and started it today.

  • woah really, did it come out in english? Weird, I was just wondering today when that was coming out, thanks for the heads up!

  • Yeah, it's out in English now. As well as Boogiepop, it seems our old friend Echoes is back. I'm hoping Spooky Electric makes an appearance again as well. But yeah, keep an eye out for it! Seven Seas Entertainment has also announced they will be releasing the novels "Boogiepop In The Mirror" and "Boogiepop Overdrive" but the date is still TBA.

  • Rad video Swan!! I've been a big fan since the start of your journey. I can honestly say without any doubt that you are one of the Youtuber's that has inspired me to continue with my goal of setting the employment program for persons with disabilities in Japan. Your awesome!!!!!

  • On behalf of all of the subscibers/viewers I want to say THANK YOU so much for all the videos. You are by far one of the best vloggers on YouTube. Your videos were informative and very entertaining and I always looked forward to watching them. I am going to miss your vids of Japan a lot :P

Good luck on the journey called life.

  • Ah jeez I only recently discovered your channel/videos. I think I subscribed about a week ago although I didn't realize the series was over :(

I will watch them anyway :) and I look forward to your future work.

  • Awesome video. Kinda sad. But Awesome! I can't wait if you are going to make another Japanese Horror Review. Even thought I would be happy if you reveiwed some remakes, and say what your opinion about them.

well, Whatever you make I am sure it will be awesome! And I hope it will be a Tokyo Swan season 2(or something like that), That would be cool!

  • ahh gotta love Tokyo...you'll be back teaching english in no time ;)

  • Hayato here. I've really enjoyed the series, and hope you keep up with occasional updates, man.

On the Horror Review note, you should continue, but maybe with foreign films in general and not just horror? Anyway, if you're ever in Vegas, hit me up. I'd love to chat about your experiences in Japan and mine. I'll throw my AIM your way in a message.

    Talk to you soon!

    - Hayato

  • Good job, mate!

All the hard work you put in has added up to a great final experiance...

  • Welcome back to the states, I love your videos in Japan keep on making more or just updates on how's life going. Please dont stop your horror reviews.

  • Great ending, man. Can't wait to see what you post next! :)

  • You're a good man, Rodger Swan. I've lived 2of your lives (I'm 42 yrs. old) but wish I were 21 again. You have a lot of life to live. Don't allow yourself to get disrailed. Make your dreams come true while you're still young. Old guys like me lament the past and the mistakes we've made. But I too have a lot of life to live and dreams to make come true. Maybe one day we'll meet somewhere in the great Tokyo metropolis! Until then, here's looking at you kid!

  • Hope you go come back to Japan someday and make more cool videos dude,I just love them

  • I appreciate you sharing your adventure with us, its been a great ride. Look forward to seeing more from you! Thanks.

  • It's been a pleasure watching your videos, Swan. From start to finish it's clear how in both your appearance and personality you seem to have grown up but not in a jaded sense. The times you had in Japan are special and I can only hope I get to enrich my life like that as well. I hope we see a TokyoSwan part 2 in the future, keep growin that pornostache mate.
