  • My Hands got Swollen after using this any tips?

  • @Ps3llGamingll

Hot and cold water therapy. After gripper training fill up 2 sinks or 2 buckets, one with really warm water and one with ice cold water. Put your hands in the cold water for 1 minute, then in the hot water for 1 minute. Keep alternating back and forth for 10 minutes. This will speed up recovery and flush blood throughout the hands.

  • @leemhayward so its normal if your hands get swollen after using the hand gripper? and thank you for the reply

  • @leemhayward does gripper training with training gloves have any negative aspects ??

  • @TheAlexownzall

I wouldn't use gloves, it will hinder how well you can position the gripper. Just use your bare hands and add some lifting chalk on your fingers if you need extra grip.

  • great info. i'm working on beating my coworkers with the heavier grippers. they currently are beating me but nobody can close 250 yet.

  • i like the pinky/ring finger tip. makes a lot of sense

  • I just started looking into grip training.

How do each of the different grippers compare to on another?

How many respected brands are there?

I've been seeing Captains of Crush, Heavy grips etc...

  • @TheClashUSA

I personally like Heavy Grippers the best for training because the handles are smoother and do not tear the skin off your fingers like COC. Plus they are spaced a little closer together which makes it easier to set the grippers, especially if you have smaller hands like myself.

  • @leemhayward so Lee, the curved handle, it should be put against the 4 fingers, and the straight leg, against your thumb right?

  • @ReturnOfJackDawson

    Yes. You got it.

  • Great video thanks!

  • I really need an answer for this question that is probably asked by every1 here! Does the hand gripper build more muscles on your hands?!?!? if not... then how come all people that enter the gym after a while they get a bigger and all muscely hands? what trainings do they do!? please reply lee. :)

  • @1701Fahed

Your hands will get stronger and thicker with regular gripper training. Now you are not going to make huge size gains as there isn't a lot of muscle mass in the hands themselves. The major muscles that come into play when gripping are primarily in the forearms. When I started using grippers in my workouts I literally gained a full inch on my forearms in just 90 days.

  • @leemhayward Hey Lee, I don't really have the heavy hand grippers because i can't afford them. I use the heaviest store bought ones I could find.

and I do behind the back wrist curls and plate pinches all all that stuff. Is that enough or should i really try and get the heavy hand grippers? and also how many days a week should i train my forearms and grip? is about 5 days a week too much?

  • will it expand my wrist size????

  • @Kaushikstealth

Not really, the wrist is bone and there is really nothing you can do to make your bones bigger. But grippers will help make your forearms bigger and stronger.

  • @leemhayward will it make my wrist not bigger, but stronger?

  • Thanks for the video man. I checked out your other ones too, and realised, that you like adventure too, just like me. Nice.

I have a question though. While we do the grip exercises, does the position of the forearm matter? I mean, does it make any difference if the forearm is at 90 deg to the upper arm, or say at 180 deg?

  • @ajbvision

Not really, just hold your arm in what ever position feels the most comfortable. The main thing is squeezing the gripper with everything you've got.

  • i can squeez them 170 times with each hand, and i can now squeez 265 lbs of pressure with my hands, i been doing it for years, when i first got one i could only squeez one nine times,

  • you look like steve o lol

  • I was first like wtf the accent?! then i saw the sweatshirt. ooohhhh yeah

  • i think i broke my last two fingers trying to close the grippers haha

  • Whats the heaviest gripper you can close? CoC3 or 3½?

    Mash monster?

    HG?

    RB? :D

  • @JackTheGripper1985

I've never tried all those grippers. I've used the Heavy Grips primarily. But I have closed a 2 1/2 COC

  • I actually never thought about the strength in forearms. I have a smallish bicep (about a month training in gym) but I felt I still dont have the strength I should have by now! Then a guy at the gym decided to help me out with a few tips and told me That I was good but im lacking exercise in forearms. I researched and found some good excercises and honestly, I can perform much better in gym now! I really do feel strengthier and it has boosted my motivation to reach my goal. Thanks for the VID!

  • Hmm.. when i use grippers, i can close them, but after a few reps of 10.. the skin around the joins in my fingers ( that are in contact with the grippers ) are sore.. am i doing it wrong or is it simply just the grippers rubbing against my fingers?

  • @liamw1125

You can try wrapping black electrical tape around one end of the gripper handle to make it smooth so it slides easier over your fingers and prevent tearing the skin.

  • Where in your arm does it affect?

  • @busymavado12

    Grippers build up the forearms.

  • @leemhayward Ok thanks

  • sounds good!

  • @leemhayward r these really all that good ? thinking about getting them feed back from others will be good thanks :)

  • Great thanks dam thought it was going to be easier shot better start working more.

  • how many reps should i do per day with this little device ;D ???

  • @foroeste1

Single rep sets work best for hand gripper training.

  • I seem to have some wrist problems , but no doctor or anyone sees anything wrong with them , after a hard workout with dumbbells or even pushups the top of the wrist possibly the muscle on the join hurts when i bend it , should i use the hand grippers ? really want to try , maybe it will help my problem.

  • @DjSoulsaver

Yes, hand gripper training is great for strengthening the wrists. You can also try wearing wrist wraps (heavy duty powerlifting wraps) to help support your wrists during training.

  • @leemhayward Ahh great to know , il try that :) thx for advice , you get one mroe sub :D

  • How many days a week should I do this exercise?

  • @cooldxve

I usually recommend training hand grippers 3 days per week after your weight training workouts.

  • How many reps do u close it nd sets? Like close it 15 times both hands nd give it a 45 sec break nd go for the 2nd set then do another 15 ???

  • @MySwaggerRight

I like to do singles and static holds mostly. That's the best way to train for grip strength. I rarely "pump out reps" with grippers except for a warm up or maybe at the end to finish off a gripper workout.

  • hi, I got my 1.5 coc today which I think is 167lbs but i can't fully close it. like 7-10mm but can I still use it for training and do holds and negatives ?

  • @MrPhoneshare Yes. You will not close it if you don't use it! Always remember to warm up to prevent injuries and on days you feel stong go for the close on the 1.5!

  • @MrPhoneshare

Yes, cheat it shut with 2 hands and hold that it for as long as you can. Do this 2-3 times a week and within a month you'll be closing that gripper shut.

  • hey............ it was a nice and helpful video. Can i workout with my hand gripper daily? if not then what should b the workout schedule for hand gripper with how many reps and sets? Thanks..

  • @vvishal1981 I wouldn't work with grippers everyday. If you lift you wouldn't bench press everyday. Just like the rest of your body your hands need rest. I do grippers 2x per week. You want at least 3 grippers to work with for easy warm ups as well as hard sets.

  • @vvishal1981

The best time to train grippers is right after your weight training workouts. I actually outline exactly how to go about hand gripper training in my Hand Gripper Training Manual which is available on my website LeeHayward*com

  • IF YOU LOVE CANADA THUMBS UP!

  • Lee is amazing....and his videos are very informative. God bless

  • your a tank :P

  • yo lee how many sets and reps should i do with the hand grippers wen i use them?

  • @BeastBenchers

Start off with 3 sets for each exercise. But you can gradually build up to doing multiple sets for grip work (i.e. 8 sets or more) as your hands get better conditioned.

  • @BeastBenchers Most have to make some. Complete 20-25 repetitions of a gripper, so that they can close a gripper on the next strength. When you can do 10-12 repetitions whole, it is recommended to switch power, so you can start to train on a harder gripper.

  • thanks lee... very interesting

  • How often should I work with my grippers? I'm just beginning and can close the 100lb easily 15 times, but 150lb I'll need assistance after 10 or so, and can barely close the 200lb.

Is every other day, 3x per week good enough? I don't want to overkill and I understand there's more than just using grippers to getting great crushing strength. Thanks!

  • @UklaTheMokk

Training your grippers 3 times per week or every second day is an ideal schedule.

  • Are you doing something wrong if it's hurting your hand? or is that because I'm not used to it?

  • @d0m0natrix

Take your time and build up gradually. Just do a little bit each day and your hands will toughen up.

  • @leemhayward Thanks for replying to my question, I got a pair of these 3 days ago and used them quite a lot, I feel because I have small hands I may need a small set of grippers, but I have only ever seen one size, their wooden handled, but they will be very durable. I'll continue doing them daily. Thanks again.

  • Can u pls make a vid on no set closes

  • @legendpurge it work forearm flexers and extensors the wrist and fingers and hands

  • I recently purchased some HG 150 LBS hand grippers. Do they actually build forearm muscles or is it just hand muscles that they build?

  • Will gripper training compromise the type of hand strength and dexterity possessed by musicians?

  • @7711082

No, it will actually help. We've had a lot of guitarists and other musicians use these to aid with their hand strength.

  • great vid, as usual

  • thanks for the videos lee. much appreciated

  • I don't want to buy Vince's package, I just want the hand grippers how much is it

  • @BigSamFoSho

Just go to my blog LeeHayward [dot] com and you'll see the link for our Xmas hand gripper special. Right now you can pick up the full set of Heavy Grippers for just $10 a gripper!

  • @leemhayward That's it? only 10$? That's awesome I'll buy them

  • this vid was awesome i would have never thought there was so many variations and techniques in grip training

  • this may sound like a stupid question, but do grippers actually help build any mass on the forearms, or this only achieved through using weights as such.

  • @GaoRenEUMGO

Grip training will build up your forearm size. After all, it's the forearm muscles that are responsible for closing your hands. To see what I mean just make a fist and relax and you'll see that it's your forearm muscles that flex and contract.

  • @leemhayward

    thanks.

  • WOW i did not know how to do that properly, thank you.

  • im having alot of trouble with my elbows...the joint itself seems to be too weak to handle the wieght that my bis and tris can handle...is there something i can do to help out with the elbow? im taking some glucosamine to try to help out, but i know that takes a loooong time to make a tiny bit of difference...

Thanks in advance, and great video. always look forward to seeing your videos in my sub box. i have already started doing alot of the exercises you have shown on here and love them.

  • @LeadSlinger89

One of the single best things you can do for joint pain in take high amounts of fish oil supplements and just eat a lot of fatty fish in general (i.e. salmon, mackerel, etc.). The omega 3's in fish oil will help with your joints big time. Start off small and over the course of a few weeks build up to taking 15 grams of fish oil capsules per day. I personally take 3 X 1000mg capsules with every meal. Yes, it's a lot of capsules, but they work awesome and they are super healthy.

  • @leemhayward i will be going to get some fish oil tomorrow morning. thanks!!

  • wow the ring and pinky finger tip is insane

  • @voran1324

That little tip alone will help a lot of guys move up to the harder grippers!

  • @leemhayward Hey man - do you ship to the UK ?

P.S What song is that at the start of the video ? (0:00-0:10) :D

  • @Elite1991

Yes, we ship these to the UK and all over the world. Right on the website there is an option for International orders. And we consider "International" anything outside of the USA and Canada.

  • @leemhayward Ahh right - thanks for replying - I'll have a look !

What song did you use at the start of this video ? (0:00-0:10) ?

  • was very informative, unfortunately you do not take these classes in my language

  • Odd.. I was thinking the samething at work. The weakest link being your last two fingers. I'm going to add this to my blog. I'm glad Lee agrees withh me.. If you are stuck on that last 1 or 2 mm, train your last two fingers seperatly. You might need to use a weaker gripper though.

  • i have one but i never acutally gave it much thought on how it could help me

  • Hmm, i want the grippers, do they deliver to the Republic of Ireland? I do grappling and i could imagine having a megastrong grip would give me an edge.

  • @IrishRhavin

Yes, we ship these to anywhere in the world. Right on the order page there is an option for "International Orders".

  • nice video lee :) could you tell me what song was playing in that gym during the video if possible?

  • Nice post Lee; I'm definitely gonna give that ring & pinky exercise a try with my grippers!

  • @billay87

That's where you need the smaller grippers. I just use the 100 for that exercise.

  • interesting. Thanks for posting

  • does this also help strengthen the wrists?

  • @KingRockets

Yes, gripper work helps strengthen the your hands, wrists, and forearms.

  • Nice tips, thanks Lee

  • i love how you compare this to golf, im a golfer myself and i agree with what you said! thanks for showing this, i was really curious for exercises with hand grippers

  • Hey Lee, i msged you about my forearm and you told me it was elbow tendonitis, which grip would i use to help strengthen and prevent the elbow tendonitis? reverse grip?

  • @TurtIeBoy

Regular gripper work will help, also search through my older videos I actually have one about training to help fix elbow tendonitis that you should watch.

  • Hi Lee :)

  • would this be considered forearm training as well?

if so isn't that gonna result in tendonitis?

  • @zerodark21

This is forearm training, but it actually helps strengthen the tendons and prevent elbow tendonitis.

  • @leemhayward i was told that traning forearms directly was bad and will cause elbow tendonitis but i think that it makes sense that strengthening them can prevent it

thanks for the tips lee keep up the good work

  • Thanks for the tips! :)

  • for kids just starting out save your money grab a tennis ball, once you build a solid grip then go out and buy a gripper.

  • hey lee when are you gonna post a full body workout like burpees? can u make a video showing the correct way of doin them.... post up more protein meal videos also lol...

  • @swolemode626

I find the best way to do burpees is to get a 6-pack of cold beer and chug them really fast... I guarantee that you'll let out a few burpees LOL :-)

  • @leemhayward hahahahaha. zing.

  • @leemhayward hahahaha ur funny lee lol.. so when u gonna post more cooking meal videos man....
