I sang this practically everyday as a child, but did not understand it much, except for liking the song. Now I understand every word, and all I can say 'JESUS is all I need, HE is my all'. He is a fantastic friend if you just let HIM be...Thank you JESUS.'

I appologize but thats not true, we DO have a right, we have the righteousness of Jesus Christ by His grace. It says so in Romans 4 and throughout the New Testament. Amen.

@dominicarmijo You are correct in saying that we have been made righteous through the cross, but I think that this song is talking about the privilege of having Jesus die on the cross for us in the first place. We definitely didn't deserve that. :)

the original title of this hymn was pray with out ceasing,
joseph scriven who wrote the great song, had two fiance who both died before he married them.
