  • when i first saw this i thought "I'm not going to watch all of this," now I'm watching it again XD WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SOUND!!!!! <3 Mozart and <3 Ben Franklin c:

  • Tomas Bloch is playing the instrument.

  • where can I buy a cd of this heavenly music by Mozart?

  • @_@ beauty

  • its really nice; only sometimes i think it sounds a bit too sharp,

how does the glass stay wet?

  • It's not the glass that is supposed to be wet, but the fingers of the one playing it.

Look at the bowl in front of the player,.

  • Is it a male or female on the glassharmonika??? Insane. I can't stop looking. It's creeping me out

  • I think their name is Pat or Terry. I dont remember.

  • @UnwrittenPaul

HE is called Matthias Würsch. Percussionteacher at the Musikhochschule in Basel, Switzerland.

  • i can not believe the simplistic comments made by some as to "how easy" it is to play this!!!!!

  • It sounds very nice, but with barock instruments the balance between the quartet and the glassharmonica would perhaps be better.

  • @GerardvanR

    *baroque

  • The glass harmonica's tone sounds particulary opposite to the violin's.

  • Mozart the Master

  • magnific !

  • 10:20

  • thats brill ;)

  • I was really enjoying this till I saw Bush's ugly white supremist, elitist face in the background.

  • it is the compression of the audio it messed everything up if you were in the audience your ears would be fine.

  • Hey , jeez, i had to comment b/c of ignorant ppl. Living in a home with lead paint is not the problem! Its that some small Children will eat the old lead paint chips, why, b/c they are lacking minerals. Its a natural animal behavior that causes them lead poisoning.

And yeah (sarcasm mode) this instrument will mess you up if u play it...thats why the freaking Genius that invented it lived so long and went so crazy..founding father/inventor/diplomat/Ben Franklin.

  • I heard it's the lead in the paint that messes with the nervous system. New versions of the instrument are cool

  • bummer that the video can't be long enough for the whole piece; please consider re-posting in two parts, as I and others are Mozart fans; i'm glad to see this work not totally monopolized by Herr Bloch :)

  • Incidentally, why in the KV is this listed no356 but dated 1791?

  • Benjamin Franklin invented the Glassharmonica.

I really do want to learn how to play this instrument.

  • Try to play wine glasses... I'm sure you have them at home. Clean your finger with soap, then wet it and rub on the rim of the glass. Soon you'll get it, it is not that hard.

  • Thanks c:

  • @AmyRosetheEchidna123 He simply made it mechanical.

  • the cellist is fucking hot! who is she?

  • roger that

  • This sorta thing breaks your fingers. Seriously. Any long term player eventually gets twitches, and then the nerves in the fingers completely break down

  • yea that must really suck. its so beautiful but do u know what causes the nerve damage.

  • It's the vibrations. The vibrations of the instrument rotating over long periods of time will entirely wreck your nervous system.

  • It's not the vibrations..

A quality goblet is made with lead. It's no different than living in a house with lead paint. Short exposure won't be serious - but long term exposure - just imagine the time it takes to learn to play this - will reek havoc

  • the notes are just the same as a piano, if you know how to play a piano all you have to do is train your fingers

  • Wonderful performance!!

  • Magnifico !

what's w/ the crazy stuff in the background ?

  • I only could listen to 3 minutes of this. Is beautiful, but my ears started to hurt

  • Indeed - it's a shame the audio is so dynamically compressed.

  • long live mozart

  • Sorry to be the one to deliver this news, but he's long dead mate. A real bummer, I know :(

I love the armonica, and Mozart, I can't wait until I make my own!

  • La del comentario era yo, pero con la cuenta otra persona. Pues lo dicho que no conocía la historia y lo decía porque a mi me resulta dañino al oído en algunas notas

  • No sabía esa historia. Es muy interesante. Yo sólo lo decía porque hay algunas notas de la obra que me suenan irritantes, un sonido muy agudo y fino.

  • No entiendo eso de que los mitos que el instrumento crea la demencia

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC. Im all my life this in one of the most beautiful sounds i have ever heard. This and the Duduk.

  • Es cierto, hace daño a los oídos

  • Beatiful !

  • I dont like it to much, sometime it hurt my ears.

  • Sounded great!!! Loved it.

  • wow i guess he did hmmmm it was made in the 1740's

  • es embriagante este adagio, tan especial y tierno

  • It's not the Adagio foi glass harmonica k 356 (617a). It is the Adagio and Rondo for glass harmonica, flute, oboe, viola and cello k 617.

  • Toll

  • And the glass harmonica, as so often,

    plays one octave too high!

    It doesn't really make sense.
