My friend told me that, to her, Indian people were generally hit or miss in terms of physical looks, and I'm starting to think she was onto something. Of course, Sanjaya may not Idol material or even that good a singer (though he seems to be proficient at entertaining), but he is good looking and even kind of cute. Maybe underlying America's obsession with Sanjaya is a sense that it is often hard to find Indian celebrities who fall outside of the stereotypes, except in Bollywood.
