  • It's just a song it's true, but the line is the "bleeding crowd." Not the be in crowd. The reference is to a bunch of suffering people that you don't even know being more important to you than the person you do know who is standing right the fuck in front of you and you don't seem to afford them the same love and support that you are willing to impart upon the bleedin' crowd.

  • perfect song to drive with

  • rockwithstone : Please disable the comments. Make it stop ~~~ Be-in crowd... bleeding crowd... bedbug crowd.... baba booey crowd ... crowded house... WHO CARES ?!?!?!?!

  • From the musical Hair, the motion picture, Search Cheryl Barnes singing the song, here on YT, clearly singing the words "The Bleeding Crowd", from the motion picture, "Hair".

  • You can go to wikipdedia under "Hair(Musical)" and under the prargraph heading, Act 1, the last paragraph has the description I just quoted from! This song was written for the musical, before Three Dog Night got it and made a super hit of it!

  • 2 of 2 posts - All of these years, I personnally thought it was "The Be-In Crowd", myself, although the correct term would have been "The In Crowd", which there is also a song with that same title! So, for him to be singing "The Be-In Crowd", really sounded kinds funny and not the proper use of the term!

  • I think it is "The Bleeding Crowd"! In a description of the use of the words in the Musical, "Hair", it describes the scene right before the song, this way: "Sheila gives Berger a yellow shirt. He goofs around and ends up tearing it in two. Sheila voices her distress that Berger seems to care more about the "bleeding crowd" than about her ("Easy to be Hard")." Other places I have looked for the lyrics also said "The Bleeding Crowd".

  • You were right the first time...it is the BLEEDING crowd...not the be-in crowd.

  • One person is trollin'

  • How can people be so heartless

How can people be so cruel

    Easy to be hard

    Easy to be cold

Sweet music ........ from a time of innocence and war .

  • the message is good today as is it was then

  • The lyrics to this song are still powerful today forty years after the song first came out. To bad the youth of today are not exposed to such thought provoking songs as this classic; considering all of the stuff, (violence with guns, hate crimes, gangs, etc.) that exist in the schools of America.

  • @jlmusicfan57 No one else could put it better than how you went & described it. Well said!

  • great sounding

  • @tessiemike1 Especially people who care about strangers...who care about evil and social injustice.

  • There is historical reference for "be in" to be used as the lyric "be in crowd". But 'bleeding crowd'? No..

  • It may never happen, but it's time for Chuck Negron to be a part of TDN again for at least a few shows. Their music is loaded with memories and as good as they are apart they would be fantastic together if they could get over their differences.

  • Easy to be cold

  • @ammittei easy to say no....who caare about evil.......how can ppl be so heartless?

  • ooh Chuck's a hottie:)

  • It's "Be-in crowd". I know the term well as I grew up in that era.

  • I snipe to this on BF3.

  • WOW, one guys says it's "Be-in" & you changed the lyrics, lol, I can't find a single mention that it's not "bleeding crowd" anywhere but in his post. //not to mention that even if it was "be-in" it still sounds like "bleeding crowd"

  • I've always thought it was bleeding crowd. I looked up the lyrics and it does say bleeding crowd. I saw them in concert many years ago. Soooo bleeding good (smile).

  • Stop by FB there heartless there

  • This song was in the opening of the 2007 movie Zodiac!

  • I'm normally not a nit-picker, but in the lyrics, it's not a bleeding crowd, it's a Be-In Crowd. That was a term from the times this song came from. To be a part of the Be-In Crowd meant you were just trying to fit in with the boring mainstream of the time and not really being yourself. Something like that. My apologies if someone's already commented on this. It's not that big of a deal :)

  • @KaptSonic22 Corrected....I think. Please check and let me know.

  • @KaptSonic22 sorry, but Laura Nyro's phrase is "the bleeding crowd." Check it out

  • @KaptSonic22 You are totally correct. I think the term "be in" came from the Human Be In that took place in San Francisco around 1966 or 1967. I was only 10 years old at the time but I recall it vaguely. Great song by the way.

  • @KaptSonic22 ...somebody changed it to "be-in" crowd, but that is wrong...it IS the "Bleeding" crowd...that is what was written and what is being sung...BLEEDING...

  • the simpsons brought me here!

  • @BENTLEYQUAMP Me too! LOL!

  • @crimsonrush ..LOL..I`ve found loads of songs thanks to the simpsons..;)

  • I've said it before ,I'll say it again; they don't make em like this anymore.

  • fuc yea

  • shut up about the comments its from the film Zodiac lames

  • I'm going to lick your alsimers havin grandmother then kill her with a jar of pickles

  • hey real whore show. why don't you do us all a favor and throw yourself out a window.

  • After reading all these racist comments on YOUTUBE it made me want to listen to this song.

  • @bucvet1979 Exactly, that's also what led me to look up this song. In the 60s we cared about people now kids are so cruel.

  • Unh uh- 3 dog night 'cause their three dogs pissed on the electric guitars every night till the song became popular. That event was taken as a sign of luck, so after much discussion, the idea was tossed around wether to call the band "The Pissed on Electric Guitars" or "The Pissed off Artist" they put it to a vote & unamouslly decided to compromise with the name 3-dog night YO! WDF? All dingos are dogs, but not all dogs are sled dogs????

  • Some songs were just meant to be played late at night.

  • rockwith....good job...made me cry for my youth.....alas Yorick ..we knew him

  • one of their very best 3 dog night songs as relevant today as it was then enough said! Truth of a screwed up world!

  • I like this track, I've heard some of their other tracks, I'm not sure whether i dig them so much.

  • Three Dog Night was the first Rock Band I saw Live. Loved it! Great Time!

  • Does any one know where the groups name " 3 Dog Night" came from ?? I heard an explanation on the radio once, but don't know how true it is ... This song IS one of the best from these guys!!!!

  • @jennykennypants From Wikipedia:

vocalist Danny Hutton's then-girlfriend June Fairchild suggested the name after reading a magazine article about indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground whilst embracing a dingo, a native species of wild dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and if the night was freezing, it was a "three dog night".

  • @rockwithstone hes right

  • @rockwithstone nice try. it's a Cananadian term

  • @bluespirit52 weird, a quick internet search for the origin of the term "three dog night" revealed nothing about canada....but i'm sure that YOU are the highest authority on the matter....don't post on message boards just to try and show people that you know more than you do, you will always end up looking less intelligent then when you started.

  • @x120daysofsodom as if I need to hear comments or advice from a gear box

  • @bluespirit52 thanks for proving my point, moron.

  • @jennykennypants

The name Three Dog Night comes from Alaska - when it gets cold at night they will sleep with the sled dogs - and a really cold night is called a "three dog night".

  • @patteater now that makes me laugh. if you need to rely on wikipedia and other unsubstantiated sources of information online then its clear what a moron you are. if you are referring to the dingo explanation, wouldn't their name be three dingo night? what a moron. it's a Canadian term used to describe sled dogs in the high north that are regularly used for warmth when caught out in the open at night. get a like, or at the very least, an education.

  • @jennykennypants i heard the term 3 dog night came from on cold nights people used to sleep with there dogs to keep warmer on very cold nights they would sleep with all of them in this case 3.

  • @collieman4202 like the comment before said

  • @jennykennypants Hi Jenny, the story I heard is that in Canada it gets pretty cold sometimes. The way to sleep warm was to sleep with maybe up to 3 dogs depending on how cold it got.

  • Let's go. Now, D

  • Not sure if people realize that this song is not a TDN original but rather from the play "HAIR". Just curious, not that it matters, cuz TDN really gave it mainstream popularity.

  • one of the best band ever

  • Before I kill you, I'm going to throw your baby out the window.

  • @RealH0rr0rsh0w thats horrible! you sicko!

  • @jimbobhk2009 It's a quote from the movie "Zodiac."

  • @fab4fan4ever64 i know, and the thought that he would come back here and say it again is inexcusable.

  • @jimbobhk2009 It's a pop culture thing to quote movies. Chill. It isn't bothering the rest of us.

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER BY THREE DOG NIGHT:):)

  • What a voice Chuck Negron has! So many years later this is still a beautiful song.

  • Oh to be 14 again...70's are the best!!

  • Being a lifelong Three Dog Night fan, this has always been one of my top 10 songs of theirs, Chuck seemed like he was singing directly to me, when I was young!! Thanks for the video!

  • @dragonflygurl4u Not corny at all. It's been said that Diana Ross, with all her faults, makes one feel that she's performing just for you. This is pretty soulful, I agree.

  • @Blondenfun1 = marked spam.

  • Ron Paul 2012 ! American/World Freedom Movement ! End the Federal Reserve, End NATO/UN KILLING MACHINE ! join the free market capitalists ! VOTE in your GOP Primary in your state ! get involved ! L3ve R3voUTION !

  • THIS IS A SONG THAT IS SUNG WITH HEART, SOUL AND FELLING. AND I THINK IT WOULD STILL HOLD IT OWN AGAIN ALOT SONGS THAT ARE OUT TODAY. I WAS SO LUCK TO HAVE THIS MUSIC WHEN IT CAME OUT IN THE LATE 60'S. SAW THREE DOG NIGHT IN MILWAUKEE, WIS. ON 7-10 OR 12-1972.

  • Great song! Thanks!!!

  • Exquisite.... saw them in concert man years ago when I was a young lass.

  • Chuck Negron, of course is the "magic voice" here - and he's still going strong and sounding as good (or better) than ever. Love this song...

  • I just watched Zodiac and it the director/producers or whoever couldn't have picked a better opening song for a movie that depicts so much of this song.

  • Excellent work on this video !! SOUNDS GREAT and awesome photo montage !! Bravo !! Thanks for posting !!

  • Great song together with good times , truth be told . Three dog night ! awesome just awesome . Thanks for posting EM

  • awsome opening'

  • beautiful song with a good message for today and forever

  • I guess it doesn't matter if The Simpson's or Zodiac or whatever motivated a person to search for this song, as long as you heard it. Tell you what brought me though. Having heard it growing up in that era, a thirteen y/o in 60's New Jersey. Fine sounding music in that decade.

  • whoa, finally a good song that has no dislikes... it sort of makes me want to hit the dislike button, just because. i think i see how easily such atrocities can come about

  • heard this in a simpsons episode

  • PRIME!!!!

  • 20 YEARS OLD AND LUCK BROUGHT ME HERE :)

  • This songs used in - Simpsons Season 16 Episode 19 - Thank God its Doomsday.

Awesome song & proof that the pinnacle of Western culture was reached in and around the years 1965-75.. I'm presuming.

  • @Veldtian1 Our golden years are largely accepted as 1947-1976. The end being the year I graduated highschool, and yes, we are on the long slide down,,,,,and its slippery than most think. Todd Rundgren about the same time, same messages, and a great musical talent, who, I think, the ptb blackballed. Yes, the pinnacle was 76

  • Man this song is smooth!!!!!!

  • Kid Loco

  • this song was originally introduced in 1967 in the off Broadway play/musical, Hair. Three Dog Night, recorded this in 1968.

  • 38 fucking years old

  • Rock and Roll and Soul is here to stay!

  • Gosh this song is amazing, I'm only 21 & have the hippiest Dad any girl could ask for. I wouldn't have it any other way because he helped introduce me to this heartfelt music. Look up Quicksilver Messenger Service - What about me? I'm sure you'll all enjoy it. (:

  • @ammunoz0824 The hippies were right. We've had plenty of wars since Vietnam and nothing has been solved by them.

  • @ammunoz0824 ask your dad what he thinks of Todd Rundgren
