NFL scouts don't care who won the Heisman, and they don't really care about a player having a bad game unless it's indicative of a consistent issue with the player. Sometimes the Heisman winner is the best prospect (Carson Palmer, etc), sometimes they aren't.

In this years's draft class the only potential franchise QB is Brady Quinn.Troy Smith will be a #2 or #3 QB who can step up and make plays if its necessary.JaMarcus can be a franchise QB but he has to learn a lot.

Man... I hope he has the starting job or atleast 2nd string by next year... Boller is learning but I dunno if he can get it done for the rest of his career... Troy's good side is sooo damn good... So good at turning bad plays into TDs... He can run almost at the level of VY and Vick but he can throw better than Vick. So... go TROY!

LAwl, here comee the words of wisdom and resoultion , Your right Mcnair is getting old, personally I th ink we could win all our divisional games with kyle bolller, and just save steves calmness for the big fish later in the schedule, but he is still throwing the balll pretty well, as far as getting it down the field, we are having redzone problems, where i think boller would be a lot better at making his own calls getting 6 instead of 3, and Troy, obviously not having even.

NFL scouts don't care who won the Heisman, and they don't really care about a player having a bad game unless it's indicative of a consistent issue with the player. Sometimes the Heisman winner is the best prospect (Carson Palmer, etc), sometimes they aren't.

I agree, heisman trophy is an individual effort and gratitude to that individual saying that you were The most popular to watch and enteraining with their level of talent, doesnt transcend to the next level.. NFL, forget NFL.. being a professional a person under a contract.. its a job.. so consistancy and performance is standard due to expactactions and the fact your being paid to play.

I think all 3 of them are great players, I just can't figure why Troy went to the 5th round!! I reckon he woulda been a steal in the 3rd round. He won the Heisman and Russell and Quinn didn't!!

Winning the Heisman means very little about a player's NFL potential. Troy Smith is short and has sloppy mechanics, Russell and Quinn (and Kolb and Beck and Stanton and Edwards) were far more NFL-ready.

In this years's draft class the only potential franchise QB is Brady Quinn.Troy Smith will be a #2 or #3 QB who can step up and make plays if its necessary.JaMarcus can be a franchise QB but he has to learn a lot.

To be honest i feel that smith may do better than rusell. JM is cocky and it seem to me that he really feels like he knows the game of football and is gonna dominate with the raiders?While Smith is very humble he is always saying he can improve and that he is scratching the surface of football.. i think smith could be a great player because of his work ethic osu vs FU was a fluke, he was outta shape for all his heismen activities and the team hadnt played since early november

I am not a Ravens fan and only have a marginal interest in Ohio State. I starting watching Troy Smith footage only after looking at Anthony Gonzalez material.
I have to say, I think the Ravens got a steal. Smith has some of the best mechanics I have seen.
I hope he does well in the NFL. It's amazing that you can do so well at the college level and be downgraded to such a degree in the meat market of a draft, where people pick you primarily for your height, 40 speed, or how high you can jump.
