Loved your video, many many thanks for putting it together. My Mother used to sing this song to me as a small child, you brought back lovely memories for me.
As of this writing, this is the only YT version of the first hit of Pet Clark's long career. She was 22 when she recorded it. I first heard this song as the theme music of a children's play. From the American accent, I guessed it was Doris Day. Sooooo wrong I was: it was the awesome Petula.
My co-worker Charles wanted to comment on how clever it was to use the knots in the wood floor to "hide" the posts where you put the "puppet" figure in order to have it dance. You are quite the talent! Mary Bennett again
Such patience it must take to create this! Very charming and lively little song, but most impressive to see the colorfully animated shoemaker and his dancing friend move so much. Cute little shoes, too! Bravo! Excellent! Thanks for sharing, Mary Bennett
A delight to find this. I used to do marionette shows back in the 50's, and used
this song. Thanks for posting it!

Wonderful video! Petula's great too.
Still, I miss the chorus in Italian, as sung by the Gaylords, who had the big hit with this song in the early '50s.
Le scarpine per ballare, ballare,
Balleremo tutt' il dì.
Le scarpine per ballare, ballare
Balleremo ancor' così.
