The army then told the priests to protect themselves until police protection was reestablished. That is when the monastery built the gate with the low fences next to it. @amitbarfs Somebody who has the facts thankfully - the Monastary was not attacked, only the wall in which was believed people were hiding who broke out of Wadi Natroun prison. Has anybody seen the weapons that were stacked behind the white wall? You can see them for a few seconds if you watch closely. The shooting wasn't only the army, but the criminals. No christians were hurt.

i am from indonesia, where majority of my country is muslim. our soldier do not do such evil action in the name of religion. this solgier seems so arrogant and so brave to do inhuman action only toward monks who has no guns and bullet in their hand.

@mroshdi Im pretty sure that breaking the crucifix hanging from the main gate was a common gesture in all 2488 inceidents. =) and just a question, ask yourself how old that wall was and how long it was there, and when this decision to demolish this wall was taken. its just a bunch of trigger happy military pricks who have no real opposition from a minority of a country.

My takings:
During the protest the monastery was told to protect itself, as there won't be any help from the police.
The monastery built a fence a bit far, which they claim it's for extra safety. (makes sense)
The army didn't like that, as they were claiming the monastery is stealing the land. (also makes sense)
My opinion:
Egypt is 1,000,000 m2, the extra land the monastery is using is not harming anyone. Why not let them keep it just until things settle down and Egypt becomes safer. As we a

The Egyptian army clearly stated that they have had resistance from the Monastery people and didn't help the Egyptian army to do their job in protecting that part of the land despite the crisis that Egypt is passing by. The land that the Monastery over took is illegal and and the Army did nothing but demolishing the walls. This is an absolute filthy propaganda and those people have very thick brain washed minds!!!!! Even the title of the video is seriously ridiculous!!

@Ismaeel13 You are a liar. When the revolution began, the police abandoned the monastery. The monastery was attacked and several people were injured, including a priest who is still in the hospital. The army then told the priests to protect themselves until police protection was reestablished. That is when the monastery built the gate with the low fences next to it. Now, the army comes and demolishes the fence and gate, and when the UNARMED people protest, they are shot by the army!!

I ve been to iraq twice and afghanistan once. let me tell you something. unfortunately innocent people die in waR. we re fighting a war but you dont see troops shooting every civilian they see walkin down the road. In muslim culture women are used for labo and bearing children. If this were christians attacking a mosque or our soldiers attacking a mosque it would be all over CNN NBC etc. Coptic Christians are persecuted all the time in the eygpt but nothing is done because they are CHRISTIANS. The point is you dont see christians blowing people up and killing innocent people all over the world and yet for some reason poeple want to feel bad for the muslims.

No one knows what, why or anything about what is taking place. Can anyone tell us more? Looks like an eviction. During last month many people illegally took land and apartments that were not theirs, then were evicted by the army. In this video a wall is built on the left side and being built on the right, plus the army is taking this wall down, though they could have killed everyone, so they're not against the people! Has nothing to do regarding the "Islamic" army which is also full of Copts!

@fox666ak This wasn't stolen land - it is a Coptic Monastery that's been there since the 5th century AD. After all of the police left it unprotected during the revolution, the priests were told to protect themselves, so they built the wall and the gate. Now, the Egyptian army came, tore it all down and shot the Copts and the workers at the Monastery!!
