lol its a half valve. we do it in marching band. theyre usuing the same amount and speed of air as they do when their valves are open. just when they release the half valve. it explodes in a fucking amazing sound of power. lol. these guys for real like whip it out.

@TheSlayer36 i think its a mix of petal tones and then they switch to half valved noise right before they go into canon so they can resolve it into the chord

@TheSlayer36 basically what they are doing is just going down to the lowest B flat note on their instrument.you have to have a very controlled embrachure and lots of air. just like you need a lot of air to get to a high note you also need lots of air to get down the octaves to a low note

@Keyblade896 it's a half valve exerrcise which pretty much helps them play with a fuller and louder sound, since your using a lot more air to get a sound out of the instrument with the valve halfway down rather than all the way up or down. It's a great exercise.

@thsma2009 its called half-valving...by depressing all the valves halfway they are creating a lot of resistance which leads to a very high impact note when they release the valves....basically it creates and explosion of sound.
