James Brown? Man, it's safe to say there will be no other brother who can eclipse this exceptional talent: his killer moves, his "swagger", incomparable attitude, the whole ethos of black-pride and SOUL - this man really was the blueprint; he's been sampled more than chocolate-flavored icecream. Eric B had every album of his, thanks to his parents; and while JB was a little hesitant about the sampling of his dope tracks, he did accept Hip-Hop in the end, thanks to Mc's like Rakim: JB RIP
Man, I don't know how J.B. did it but he is often copied never duplicated. No one can play that music like the way he had his band to play it. You know it right off the back. It just comes off wack; plain wack. They can keep on trying but never will succeed.
rakim sampled bobby byrd- i know u got soul copying the title , hooks & chorus before publishing & copyright law caught up .But jb got credited instead of bobby bryd. Around that time james brown was imprisoned for abh & drug abuse & insulted many who sampled him on the song - IM REAL calling people copycats .But it was hip hop what resurrected the careers & back catalogues of many forgotton artists. Hip hop artists also campaigned for his release & recorded a free jb song
Does anybody know why he dissed James Brown on Musical Massacre. "James Brown must have been dusted and disgusted now he can't be trusted"????????????????????????????????????????

Yeah, about that time, James Brown got dusted and beat up his wife and got arrested / did some time. Rakim used a lot of his samples up until that point

Good Jesus... CALM THE FUCK DOWN. Many of the JBs were from fucking Ohio... aight? shit. Actually, with all the strong groups that came from Ohio they have almost as big a claim to "the funk" as anywhere else.

the south is not garbage. its radio that is making you think that they are garbage. there are actually rappers from the south that are actually good. its the media
@periechontology if you think "The South remains garbage" then you are just as brainwashed as the people pushing that garbage music that youre gravitating to

James Brown was a Southern singer, not a rapper.
The South remains garbage by and large in Hip Hop but the legacy of Southern singers is ofcourse great.
