rakim sampled bobby byrd- i know u got soul copying the title , hooks & chorus before publishing & copyright law caught up .But jb got credited instead of bobby bryd. Around that time james brown was imprisoned for abh & drug abuse & insulted many who sampled him on the song - IM REAL calling people copycats .But it was hip hop what resurrected the careers & back catalogues of many forgotton artists. Hip hop artists also campaigned for his release & recorded a free jb song
