  • WoW great job

  • I am an experienced Decorator but I found your comments and advice tremendously useful. A very well presented set of videos. Excellent!

  • Thank you very much for posting these videos. As a first time home buyer and a novice home improver, these videos made me feel confident I could do the job. I appreciate it and keep up the good work!!!!

  • Thanks so much for your time and expertise. I will give it a try!

  • I only wish I had watched this a couple years ago...I had THE WORST experience removing wallpaper because I did not do it like this THANKS!!!

  • awesome a huge help!

  • This was very useful. I've watched several other videos on this where they use different techniques. i am glad that you go to the trouble to explain WHY you choose to do it the way that you do. I feel Ilke I have learned from the mistakes of others. Thank you.

  • Before watching these vids I was dreading doing this job. You make it look easy enough, so.. I feel like I can do it now. THANKS!

  • thanks for the video, still seems like its going to be a pain in the ass to do but atleast i know how to do it right

  • Part 3: BTW, after you put on a first coat of self-priming paint, you can go around and patch any gouges or holes that show up before the final coat. They are sometimes easier to see after a coat is on. Just be sure after sanding those patches to then hit them with quick brush of paint over them before the final roll. Also really brush them out thin so that the paint is feathered out and not thick over the patches otherwise you will see them through the final coat..

  • Part 2:Also some painters believe in painting one coat primer and one coat finish paint. If I were to use a primer instead of a self-priming paint, I would still use two coats of finish paint on top of the primer. The reason is, rarely is the primer tinted the exact color and the finish coat is most likely to have a different sheen than the primer, these differences will definitely lead to poorer quality finish for the room.

  • Answer Part 1: Primer is only necessary if you can tell that the walls were not previously painted. If they were'nt painted and you will need to prime, I suggest using Ben Moore Aura. It's self priming. A good painter always paints two coats on walls unless they are just freshening up a room with the same color, so with a self priming paint like Aura, you get to save buying two different products for your walls.

  • Very thorough and easy to understand. Each vid not to long which is good, at least for me. Whats next primer for the wall?

  • @Howard492 Thank you for your comment. The response to your question is spread out over three following comments..

  • great videos, headed to lowe's tomorrow to by the spray and the solution

  • @ddsky03 Thank you. If you have any trouble finding it at Lowe's, you'll often find it at a Sherwin Williams store.

  • Thank you very much, the video was very useful. The explanations were very clear. Now I have to try them!

  • Good stuff man! This was really helpful and straight-forward

  • great job on videos.....was very easy...wish i watched all your videos in order...i screwed that up myself...i must say, it really help...thanks again..... do you have any videos about spackling now?? lol

  • After removing wallpaper for years "the wrong way" I am anxious to try your recommendations. I have encountered all the problems you described. I am convinced that using the pressure sprayer in stages as you recommend while not perforating the paper will avoid damaging the wall and produce a better result more efficiently. Thanks for sharing these recommendations !

  • I bought a 1971 home earlier this year, and it's covered with wallpaper. I've been removing the wallpaper in the foyer the wrong way and gouging all my walls! Thanks so much for all 5 videos. Your knowledge will save me tons of time and frustration!

  • Great job... Loved the videos... Helped and learned a lot.... Just one thing... Should label them 1 through 5.. .. I missed the one about pulling off the back and getting the paste off the wall... Have to do double the work... My fault... lol ... Thanks again..

  • Thank you for your time and tips. They are very informative. This is the sort of instruction that every DIY person needs to gain enough confidence to tackle a job like this at home.

    Thank you again...

  • Hi. You have made a fantastic set of videos here. I am just about to set up professionally and I am quite nervous, I am just in the process of putting together an order of work manual for jobs and your techniques and tips are just brilliant and have given me confidence. I'd really like to see some more videos on how you paint and wallpaper. You should open your own decorating school should you ever want a change of job! Well done and thanks. x

  • Thanks so much for the fantastic advice! I'm embarking of a house full of wallpaper removal and needed some helpful hints. I'm glad to hear I'm not crazy in avoiding the wallpaper scoring tool. I have never used them in the past but wondered if I should try one. I'll definitely be avoiding that tool. My heart goes out to the current owners of homes I so lovingly helped wallpaper in the 80's....oh the work they must be encountering now! Hope they find their way to your videos!

  • Thank you so much. I learned a lot.

  • very informative thank you

  • Found it here! I'll be doing this next week for my Grandmother.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks so much for sharing your experience and technique. Your video stands above the rest for the level of detail and all the little insights you've shared. It's easy to tell that you've done this many times and have refined the process to only the essentials, like the professional that you are. That refining and time saving element is the kind of stuff that is difficult to learn from any other source than directly from a professional, and is always what I'm looking for an not finding.

  • Great and informative. Looking forward to the project tomorrow. i am sure you saved me some time. Thank you

  • I am about to tackle an entire house of paper yeeha ! thanks for the great howto very informative and i hope this works out great for me ,thanks.

  • We have an old house full of wallpaper that was put on directly over the dry wall. It is on so well I considered painting over it . I have been afraid to tackle it. After watching all of your videos I'm encouraged to try. I'm still a little afraid to get the paper so wet that it ruins the dry wall. In that case I may have to plaster. I may have to plaster anyway because the walls are so smooth. Well, I may not have all the answers yet, but your videos gave me some courage to start. Thanks

  • Great video! our house is covered in the brightest wallpaper. after doing the two smallest rooms in the house - i decided to search youtube for some ideas to improve our method. your video seems the most realistic and some great advice! imported the dif product to France - fingers crossed it cuts down the hours of work that lie ahead.

  • Your video is by far the best and most professional I have viewed on wall paper removal. I can tell that you are a professional painter and have had a lot of experience in the field. Thank you for taking the time to put this video together.

  • we're in the midst of it now. thanks for the tips. diluted dif and patience in letting the paper soak worked great.

  • Very thorough instructions, gonna give it a shot later today. Thanks for taking time to make this tutorial!

  • Thank-You very Much!! Your Instruction was Very-Good...I am going to use the DIF...like you recommended...and make sure I follow all your directions...as I watch this Video a few times.. I do have some painting experience...but never did wallpaper! My parents have some in their Kitchen..and want it removed, and paint where it is.. There is not that much...above & below the cabinets..and behind the refrigerator..and that's it! Thank you..for your Wisdom & Expertise....It was short and Informative

  • Thanks for your good info

  • Thanks for the excellent information I have removed many rooms of wallpaper, by trial and error with limited success, I 'm looking forward to using your method. Thanks again.

  • I saw loews' video and thought it looked too easy so i found ur vids. I will definately be avoiding any tiger scoring since i believe you are right and they will leave a pinhole nightmare on the walls. I will be trying ur method and won' have fear about the wallpaper coming off in layers! Thx

  • They told me if I get them to remove it my whole house I'll have to pay them £2.000 but now the way I see it I might spend £200, saving in though times, thanks again, I'll b back when it's done :D

  • thanks..very helpful info.

  • Very good info. I'm getting ready to remove wall paper from a large bedroom and hope it comes off the way yours did. Almost every one says to score the paper first tho.

  • Very good info. I'm getting ready to remove wall paper from a large bedroom and hope it comes off the way yours did.

  • Thank you! The video was very clear and has inspired me to take on the horrible wallpapers in the bathroom. Two wallpapers, neither of which I like.

  • Thanks for the post!!!! We are going to give it a try. You look like you know what you're talking about even if you are in Patriots country. GO COLTS!!!!!!! Sorry I just hate the Pats.

  • Your video series was well done - not too long and not to brief. I have personally done several wall-paper-repair-and-paint jobs and happened to stumble on using your sprayer technique and can confirm that the steps you illustrate including the hints regarding timing and sequencing are right on the money. Thanks. There is one thing that could make the wall paper removal a tad easier, and that is to use hot water in your mix - hot tap water worked well for me; the DIF was an optional expedient

  • Thank you for posting this. I am currently removing wallpaper and am having a tough time with it. Tomorrow i am going to try again using your method and see how it goes.

  • I haven't gone through the process of removing the paper yet, but I am about to attempt it, using your videos as a guide. I will update the post on here as soon as I finish and let you know how it goes! Thank you for the videos these were very informative.

  • Thank you for saving me time and headache. Great video!
