I just think the full covering ( ie of the face) is extreme. It's more of a cultural thing than religious. Covering the head, not revealing the bosom and the legs, is good and modest. Why should a women hide herself from the world ? In this day and age that is impractical and actually invites hostility from non- muslims. Leaving your face open provides unwanted attention even welcomes men to come and start conversation you can see the womens facial expression,her smile and may be misinterpertated by some of the men to something more when its not.

Those women need to really look at their reasons for covering their faces. So what if anoher man looks at a women. Women are not so stupid that they cannot ward off someones advances.. Countries should by law protect women and not expect them to cover their faces in public. Islam does not require this but rather requires modesty and the control of ones desires, whether we are men or women.

Majority of scholars in islam called Niqab Fard meaning an obligation on the women to wear the niqab. One other opinion said only in a socieity where men don't lower there gaze which is everywhere! So what if a man looks at a women?? This is part of your deen for a man to gaurd his chastiy as well as women, looking at none mahram women is a case of zinna with the eyes and this only leads to more first its looking then talking then touching etc. Also if you look back in the time of the prophet

I don't think the maority of scholars regard it as fard.Many do not. I agree that men and women should guard their chastity and control desires, although this does not happen all the time. We live in societieswhere women have to come into contact with men.Many women have to work to support themselves and their children. I understand your point but I know alot of sisters that live in the west still support there families and hold jobs wearing niqab as well... so the sister has to be a little more struggle in order to achieve this but its well worth it. In the case of Niqab, there implicit Ahadith. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) had said that women should left up their Niqabs while they are in Ihram. That implies that when they are not in Ihram they should have their Niqabs lowered.

it doesn't mean they are stupid, actually in an historical sense, this niqab, veil was a status symbol. look it up in wikipedia, muslim women cover up the same way nuns, virgin mary, wives of prophets have years ago to the present, before my convertion of islam i found it facinating, i NEVER LOOKED DOWN A WOMAN WEARING IT, WHY CAN'T YOU? I think woman get used to it.when i went to Mecca Alhumdulilah some time i put a black hijab over my face and it isnt easy but its Good when to many men are there.
