  • I find it interesting that many members of both the 85 Bears and 86 Giants said that their games in Minnesota during those Super Bowl seasons were pivotal wins in their championship marches. The Bears were down & Ditka inserted injured Jim McMahon and he throws a TD pass in his first snap of the game. The Bears go on to win. Per this video, the Giants were down & faced a 4th & 19 in the games' final moments and converted. It lead to a game-winning FG. Season changing wins in Minnesota for both.

  • That play turned the Giants history around.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • "I might have to come to you late." :20

    Sickos!

  • Phil Simms was a clutch performer with mental toughness that set him apart. He also learned not only to take something off his fastball but to pick his spots for the big play. Simms threw the 15-18-yard-I-cut patterns as well as anyone & had good touch on the long ball & hit the deep seam as well as anyone. The short stuff was his forte & he was a winner respected by teammates. He would never bail out or throw the ball away because of his competitiveness in sapping every second of pocket time.

  • This play was almost identical to the 4th and 16 play the Cowboys converted in the 75' playoffs. Wich led to the Hail Mary catch.

  • typcial vikings meltdown

  • this is from america's game...u can watch in full @hulu.com...

  • Shit, that was a perfect throw.

  • This is the play where the Giants finally got their Offense going & made them a partner with their great Defense

  • GOD BLESS JIM GORDON AND DICK LYNCH....fans and announcers....Jim was also a great NY RAngers announcer

  • @nygnyg1 He sure was a great NY Rangers announcer.

  • @nygnyg1 if you like Jim Gordon you gotta see Artie Lange's joke on Letterman from a few years ago... search "Artie Lange 2008/02/01" and go to the 3:40 mark

  • Phil Simms is the best

He stats are even better than Troy Aikman's

    Go Giants

  • @bjacobsdabest123 Not his wins and that's all that really matters.

  • @bjacobsdabest123

Would had been more so even in QB ratings and wins if it weren't for 1991 and 1992 due to Handley's mishandling the team.

But then again what can you do?

  • Lol im a Vikes fan but u gotta love Phil Simms. He was such a play maker.

  • Phillip Simms, the man drafted to be the savior of the Giants, in 1979, put that team on his shoulders and was NAILS.. My favorite all time Giant.

  • Oh Christ, I was at that game when I was 15, painful loss for a Vikes fan!

  • As a Redskins fan I hate the Giants but this is the play where Phil Simms became the Leader of the Giants.

  • I remember that play.

It not only turned the season around and made Phil Simms THE GUY, but it put the Giants on the road to being a great team.

That one play did all of that.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • of course we choke agian.......

  • That for some reason was my favorite game. I remember that game so clearly even now. Go Giants!

  • Where can you get the video or season highlight tape of the New York Giants 1986-87 Super Bowl run? Maybe even individual games? Is there anyone that sells them? I'll buy. Especially this game

  • this is from America's Game, you can download it off of youtube or buy the dvd on ebay, it's pretty good. As for season highlights or individual games I would love to know myself.

  • The season highlight tape for the 1986 NY Giants season is called "Gaints Among Men." check ebay. I bought it on ebay last year. Maybe you can order it from your local DVD store. Not sure if it was put on DVD though. Obviously it was on VHS tape bcak then.

  • that video is called GIANTS AMONG MEN!!! GREAT VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS 86 SEASON

  • Wow nice. When he caught it he was so amazed he caught it he couldn't run!

  • nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • im a vikings fan, but i must admit, that was a really good play from the giants. a very good lesson that every qb player or football team should instill upon themselves......

  • Damn, that's not right. Sad.

I was only 3 when the Giants won this year but I vividly remember '90. My dad set up a TV in my room for the Super Bowl so I could watch the game because my mom said I couldn't stay up. I'll never forget that.

  • Going into that game, the Giants were still trying to find their identity as a Super Bowl contender. That play propeled the Giants towards their Super Bowl XXI championship and that 4th & 17 play carried the wave of momentum and the Giants never looked backed that year.

  • That was definitely the turning point of their season.
