I see so much potential in that room. It looks like it will be a royal pain in the butt to do, but the outcome will be well worth the effort. BTW, whenever you get around to fixing the cast iron cookware, do videos on how to fix them, clean them and keep them maintained. That would be useful and interesting.
the reason is that they used wood cook stoves.if they moved it out of the main house it kept the heat out of the main house....i have a wood cook stove i use in the winter it was real handy when a ice storm knocked the power out for 3 weeks..it has a water tank on one side a oven and 4 burner plates they are real nice.
Hey HA, that is a fine looking room, I remember when I was little my grandma had a summer kitchen. It was connected to the house, they opened the door in the winter. Actually when you said that, about why move the stove, i thought my grand parents never did. They had just a small 2 bedroom house. It was great. Many memories of cooking with my grand'ma. thanks. Mike, London, On.
I think everyone has one of those rooms. We have one here that I store my hunting stuff in that I don't want the kids to get into that my wife just keeps stuffing stuf into on me LOL
watch out for those hornets and bees nest my friend, lol i'm just kidding. my grandmother had a summer kitchen in her old house years ago, i am envious man i wish i had a summer kitchen on my house with a walk in food pantry i know that's asking a lot, but one day who knows. as always great video my friends and i will be watching for more of your renovation vid's .
That is an awesome sink!! It is exactly like my grandmother's sink I remember from when I was little- from a long time ago! I can't wait to see it when it is all done. ~Susan
Looking forward to this series. Since I will be laid off in another 2 weeks, I plan on redoing several rooms in my home. We have an older home as well. I'm not sure where to start, so I'm looking forward to watching your vids. Thanks for all your videos.
How harsh are your winters up where you are? I know where I am in S.E. Wisconsin winters can be pretty brutal ( 80 or so inches of snow and sometimes high temps not getting above 0 degrees F.). I'm just curious because it seems as if the weather up their in spring/summer/fall is not too bad actually!!
the summer kitchen was additional sq ft to heat. also the room was designed to handle summer vegs and volume , with lots of ventilation, mostly screen which is another reason to move the stove in for the winter.
Those farmer sinks are big bucks now. I agree, hang onto that! I would love to have one, but I can't find any in my price range. You are so lucky to even have a summer kitchen! When it's 110 degrees here in the summer, canning is a real drag.
