sorry for the question as I don't know much about mountains, but why is Nanga Purbat a killer mountain, I mean to me K-2 appears more challenging (as what I have seen in photos)
In the early days of summit attemps to 8000ers it took so many lives. There have been some tragedies in the pre WWII German attempts. 'Germany's 'Mountain of Destiny' they call it.
Nowadays the worst Summit/Dead ratio is to Annapurna i think
@abcdeusman Where is the pride in death. It is there. It has been there before Pakistan or India and it shall be there when they are gone. Himalayan range started when Indian plate collided with Asia 25 million years ago. They are still growing. I would rather see Pakistan develops and make climbing more attainable by proding roads/facilities for more poeple to come and enjoy.
@amoralis123 thanks for ur positive comments nice to read ur comment about pakistan...otherwise all people of world only keep on saying terrorist eventhought we sacrifised 35000+ people for war against terrorism...
There are not many things that Pakistani's can be proud about, but this cluster of mountains are one of them.

@filza18pk It has the highest mountain face ever (means no cliffs or places to camp) and it has taken a lot of lives.

@bman6661 oh okay thanks. K-2 seems to have more steeper gradient, no? does mountain face has anything to do with slope?
