@AgentRenamon Hmm probably Beta 1.5ish given that I made this about 6 months ago. Now with Pre-release 6 out and squids swim up not all of it is applicable.
Like 4 squids spawned in the water around my underground farm so i decided to make a big tank under ground is their a certain depth or something that restricts their spawning at all?
@hayitsWILL98 As far as I know they are able to randomly spawn in any water block. The greater the number of water blocks the greater the chance for them to spawn in it. I am not certain the exact algorithm used to calculate this though. It does take a long time especially now for game to check on whether to spawn them.
@MilloBlackWolf I guess I could have described 'landlocked' a bit better. Basically you want to be 200ish blocks or so away from any major water sources. Squid do seem to take longer to spawn than other passive mobs as well. At least that is how it happens for me. More research has gone into other mob spawning so its still a work in progress or understanding squids. Hope this helps. Also a tip, dry up any other water pools around.
@MilloBlackWolf They keep the water from flowing down though signs work just as well. If you wanted to try and keep the squid inside it I thought the hatches/trapdoors would work perfectly. Make it an aquarium / farm where you could just open the the hatches to let the squid out. In my legit world I drop the squids down into a water canal and pipe them into my base where I just sword kill them. :)
@BitOfADunce I have the 15min time limit so I cut out sections to make it all fit. I think it was about 17mins or 18 total. I am learning how to do video editing still. If you notice the one section is sped up and has me talking, I couldn't figure out how to kill the sound in that section.
@BitOfADunce I'm using Windows Movie Maker for editing, lol. I will look into Sony Vegas or just learn to stop talking if I might speed up the section.

Tried building one and squids doesnt seem to appear. Does it have to be in a certain place (dunno, some possible spaw point) or just anywhere?

Lovely tutorial, I'll probably make one of these in my main world since I'm unfortunately completely landlocked for almost 100 blocks.
Was it intentional that the video length is 13:37? Lol.

@LordAlldara Do you have sony vegas? Because if so, you get rid of the sound in the sped up area very simply.
First you right click -> groups -> remove from
Then you click it, then hit delete.
If you're using something else, no clue lol.
