  • Can anyone teach me how to palm mute super fast? Like in songs by disturbed and slipknot where like every other note is a palm mute cuz whenever I try to do that type of palm muting I can't switch from normal strum to palm mute fast enough and the song just ends up sounding sloppy and cut off if u know what I mean

  • what guitar is that?

  • man i hav a floyd rose bridge so when i palm mutes i tend to press bridge down too hard causing a change in pich lol

  • @yubelkillu u know, so many people say that...but i've never had much of a problem with mine. maybe u could tighten the tension? i don't know

  • uhh i just started and was wondering can you tell if ur palm muting by using a electric but with it not being on a amp??

  • I always found palm muting to be incredibly inconvenient. If you have problems with it you can try using your pinky instead of a palm, at least that how i do it.

  • eye of the beholder!

  • for me it sounds like kill the king of megadeth,,,

  • what song is it that he played at the start?

  • metallica - eye of the beholder

  • Eye Of The Beholder-Metallica

  • It can seems CRAZY but I use the PALM MUTE on the Classical Guitar ! hahahah

  • i get no volume when i palm mute. what do i do?

  • you could just be puting too much palm on it. put ur hand perpendicular to the bridge and roll it onto the strings. that gets u a good sound.

also it could be that ur strings are too loose. try stepping up the string gauge if you think that might be the problem

  • same happened to me, maybe you are pressing too much the strings with your palm, try to only mute the strings, let it ring a little

  • Mute the string close to the bridge not too far on the strings

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • what kind of guitar is that

  • why do people struggle with palm muting?

  • cuz maybe its hard for some people. its not east for everyone. im having some trouble with it.

  • fair enough.

It can depend on your amp tho. My 1st amp i found in a tip, and it was so bad, it had some sort of crappy fuzz, and u couldnt do pinch harmonics/palm mutes. my next amp was a crate, which was pretty good for a solid state, and i realised it was easy as piss.

  • we'll se how quickly i get it. actually i played a little after i watched this and its not too hard. in my own opinion its just something that u need to get the hang off while actually playing a song. not hard to do i can agree, just something to get the hang of. if that makes sense

  • yeh! exactly.

powerchords were a struggle to hit in the early days :P

  • That technique is bassically for electric guitars o.O

  • Metallica - The eye of the beholder !

  • thanks

  • good

  • YOU.....ARE........A GOD!

  • i have a hard time with fast palm muting (all down)... every time i try to do it my hand just gets slow all by itself or stops... it's hard... got any tips?? thanks in advance

  • that was the first thing i learned with the electric guitar.. and i did it on acident

  • dude that is genius

now i can get on with learning

  • wat kind of guitar is that

  • Metallica !

  • oooh hed playd metallica!!!

  • what a coincidence, i was just playing that song and i realized that my PMing technique needed a lot of work so i came here.

  • What guitar is that?

  • what is this song?

  • eye of the beholder, metallica

  • Go into a shop with your guitar and try some new amps. Palm mute some, and you'll discover if the amp enters into it..

  • Thank you, that actually made sense! and It's really helping :)

  • hahahahahahaahah. xD

  • Ooo a Marshall

  • why does everyone call this things " guitar secrets" ITS NOT A SECRET, everyone knows it, ten its not a secret. better name for this video

"Amazing Guitar teqniche - Palm Muting"

    :-p

  • thx. it helped a lot :)

  • That's the guy! He plays Metallica, that's good. Good lesson, thanks.

  • Lol, I love it how he turns out of words.. Very helpful indeed. Use "the meaty part of your picking hand." It sounds funnier, and it sorta makes more sense.:D

  • Thanks! That helped a lot!

  • hey, thanks a lot! I was looking for a tutorial good enough to teach me how to play with palm muting, and you did it :) thanks a lot!!!

  • he's a good teacher

  • thank you so much, this helped a lot. thanks for showing it more than once and doing close ups, that was great. thank you thank you!!!

  • Eye of the beholder! Awesome song!

  • i didnt get it before this but he didnt need to say put your hand on the back of the strings a million times it would be better.

  • also,i've learned alot just from subscribing to his free lessons he will post out monthly if you subscribe to his website, its 100% free. Imagine what I can do with the entire course.

  • Dan Denly is an Amazing Musician as well as a Guitar teacher, I personally am a guitar teacher and is considering on purchasing his course to further fine tune and hone my skills. I would recommend this Course to anyone of any skill level as I think this may be the best material out there and easiest way to learn guitar and get good with the effort put in.

  • What are you, best friends with this guy or something? How much did he pay you to say this?

  • lets just say he gave me enough free lessons from his subscriber to be convincing enough

  • thank you so much

  • hey don't be an ass people aren't as "gifted" as you are

  • Can some1 tell me what metallica song that is?THX.

  • thats "the eye of the beholder"

  • thank u sir!

  • Lol, same here. But it's best to watch to be sure u are doing it right.

  • where did I learn to play then ?

  • So helpfull!

  • i get how to palm mute on low strings like...low e a g...but lyk how do u palm mute on higher strings?

  • you have to shift your hand down but you will very rarly have to do that

  • wow even with that help its still hard for me to get it :(

  • Thanxs dude...very useful :p

  • yea no kidding..nice teaching!

  • THAT WAS SO HELPFULL thanks 4 dis

  • Eye of the beholder at the beginning...yeaah!

  • I think it's just great, how you arrange the lessons showing a significant riff of a VERY GOOD song like 'eye of the beholder' first, so that we have a tasty aim... that makes it more exciting, than just stupidly learning techniques... others may do it as well, but they don't choose SUCH GOOD RIFFS ^^ ...

  • it helped me alot ^^

  • Eye of the Beholder!

  • i know how to palm mute.. but does anyone know how to mute between strings. example..

    9

    x

    7

how do i do that? anyone know? please help me.

  • u mute the "x" note with the finger you use to play the 7, just angle your finger down u will get used to it

  • thanks!

  • hey man umm i know an easier way for you just rest your "rude" finger on it dotn press just rest but i would just play sounds very much the same and you dont notice it :)

    9

    7

  • is it possible to mute it wid yor left hand?...like use one of your finger...

  • are you playing lefty or righty? if you're playing righty, you mute with your left hand no matter what.

  • yes, a lot of punk-guitarists do that, often to omit a bass note when playing power chords, you could also omit notes form other chords

  • im sorry, i just started playing the guitar like 3 days ago. i started with a yamaha c-150 acoustic guitar. this may seem like a stupid question for you, i dunno, but is it possible to palm mute on an acoustic guitar like mine? thanks in advance.

  • ya u can...

  • Yes, he mentioned that in the video.

  • METALLICAAAAAAA! \m/

  • thanks for the lesson, man. youre a great teacher and i love your videos.

  • hey Dan! Been doing that for years didn't know it had a name, Thanks Again

  • Thorn within... Metallica

  • no, its not thorn within which is the last song in the load album, its eye of the beholder, yes by metallica in the ...and justice for all album song number three

  • No its not thorn within, its Eye of the Beholder on the Justice album..... dipshit.
