  • mhmm, it's good song. =)

  • yes, it is

  • I'm learning how to play piano and I want to play this song, but I'm just a beginner

  • Same here. But I can't read notes and thereofre I have to use my ear. I think it'll eventually be better. But I can sound most things with guitar but with the PIano its a totally different concept.

  • yeah...... i would highly recommend people to learn notes when learning an instrument. it would be easier to learn a song, and play it correctly (and if want, improv).

but learning by ear is good also, cuz i can't really learn by ear. hehe.

  • just keep practicing. =)

  • I can't learn by ear either, I prefer to read notes it's much easier

  • Its ok I found out what was wrong:P so u dont have to answer if u dont want to:P

  • what tones/notes are u playing at 1:40 cuz I have sheets but I doesnt sound right what Im playing so if u just could answer that

  • no problem i will continue looking maybe animenewsnetwork might have some info on it.... thnx any way...

  • not enough info. i need more specifics like who is the artist for this piece. and i tried searching for the actual one on several websites but nothing came up. so one more time just give me more specifics about it...

  • i don't know the artist/composer.....

i just know it's from the anime Hikaru no Go, and the title is Tomadoi. sorry...

  • Wanna take a picture of the music sheets? or maybe just make a turorial for this song? i really want to learn it ntnboy85. something about this song.

  • google "Josh's Anime Sheet Music Master Index Collection". it's there.

  • isnt the song called "bokura no bouken"?

  • hmm... seems like tat's also the song, but a faster version.

well, tat's the title of the song on my sheet-music. i also have a soundtrack of this song with the title "Tomadoi."

i suppose Tomadoi is the piano/slow version of the song. *shrugs

  • what is the name of this piece i've been looking for it all over the place. can u post the name for it and send it to me cuz i would like to hear it as it sounded in the show so please respond quickly.

  • read the description box and the title. =)

  • love it too... really great!

  • thankyou. =)

  • maybe can you send me the notes of this wonderful music?

  • love it!!!! keep up the good work!!!!

  • thanx. =)

  • Nice! You seem a bit hesitant, especially towards the beginning. Don't worry, play full out, especially in sad songs. A little more rotation of the wrist might help a little with that. It's important to find a good balance between weight and strength - you have the strength down perfectly, but I think it needs a bit more weight. Sorry for being a perfectionist :X Great job!

  • weight and strength? can u explain, i don't really get it.... thought, thanx for the comment. =)

  • Consider it in terms of what happens when the hammers hit the stings.

    Basically, the difference is that strenght affects the hammer before it hits the strings, and weight what happens after impact;

Strength is what you get when you hit the piano - obviously that's a bit extreme, but it illustrates the point. It's the physical force and momentum with which the hammers hit the strings. Different strengths generate different volumes, in terms of loudness.

    [...]

  • Weight is slightly different. It's sort of what makes the notes flow properly. Weight is a less concrete quality on the piano - which is why it's often harder to get right. It has to do with the firmness of each stroke as it hits the wires. The hard part is getting the the hammers, after hitting the strings, to bounce back at a certain speed, which is inversely proportional to the _strength_ that note was played with.

    [...]

  • But you can't change that by playing with more strength. That will only make the note louder, after all, when what you want is not volume, but depth. You therefore have to play full notes, depressing the keys all the way to the bottom and keeping them there for a little while. Even if this is difficult when the song is fast-paced, it's a very important element in more advanced playing, and makes a big difference to the effect of the music. [...]

  • Get it wrong, and it makes it sound like playing on a cheap electric keyboard, get it right and you instill that exultant, soaring feeling, as if you want to cry at the beauty.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that your playing sucked or anything - quite the contrary - I just want to help a fellow pianist play an excellent piece (and hopefully the future pieces) at an even higher level. You should be able to hear it yourself when you get it right - [...]

  • though I know how hard it is to hear yourself playing... Hard enough making sure everything comes in the right place :D

The only thing that will increase your skill is hours and hours of concentrated practice. Ain't it a good thing we have so many great anime pieces to choose from!

    Gambatte yo ne!

[sorry for the screwed up posting order. It seems to take a few minutes for them to appear, even if I refresh every so often, by which point I have already added a new comment...] Dumb char limit...
