  • klutz951, thanks for posting this video, but why did you say "not great" in the description? This is one of Carlin's best, most pointed, most important, and most well-known commentaries! This is beyond great: It's legendary.

  • @paxpaul Haha, I was talking about the video itself (had to throw it together in a few minutes for class). I agree, he is awesome and this is one of his best pieces. Sorry for the confusion

  • George you are missed you could tell us the truth and make us laugh at the same time.

  • nice

  • I think about this old routine every time I hear about the latest "kinetic action" our military is involved in.

  • @VredesStal If I could write a paper on the subject of propoganda I would; but you can only put so much up on a YouTube comment. I would reccomend that you also look into the Alien/Sedition Act, Espionge Act, and of course the Patriot Act and how they were passed in order to protect us but used instead to shut us up. These days I live by another Carlin quote "I never beleive a thing the Gov't tells me". We all should because we'll be right 90% of the time.

  • @VredesStal Mad/Ave, the PR indistry, and govt propaganda use the works of Edward Bernays, Gustave Le Bon, and Wilfred Trotter (LOOK THEM UP!). Their studies in Social psychology, Crowd psychology, and propaganda are used to munipulate language, images, and in turn thought in a society. An example is in the book "1984" where Doublethink (War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery) language is used to control thought. Like Carlin says language manipulation is used to take the pain and humanity out of war.

  • In the American Civil War it was called "Soldier's Heart." Too bad he didn't mention that.

  • Which HBO Special is this from? It was one of my favorites, I can remember that much. I listened to it so many times that I could recite it word for word, so I decided to wait a few years before I listened to it again, so I'd forget it. That was in 2007. Now, I'm trying to find it again, because I obviously don't remember it as well as I used to.

  • @Dethenger I don't know if it was an HBO special, but it's called Euphimisms, I just took this small part out :)

  • @klutz951

Ah, well, thank you for putting it up. This has always been one of my favorite comedic pieces, not just by George Carlin, but by every comedian I've ever listened to. :)

  • @Dethenger Hey, if I remember correctly, this if from his last HBO special.

  • @Dethenger It is from the album "Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics" which came out in 1990. I don't know if there was a visual version of it, but I'm sure there is somewhere. This excerpt is from the last track, (15), called "Euphemisms" which is actually 9:48 seconds long. It sounds like the audio in this has been edited, but Carlin's words haven't been, just the audience and stage noise. The whole album is worth picking up, and the entire track is nothing short of amazing.

  • @Dethenger

George Carlin: Doin' It Again (TV 1990)

  • @MastaofDisasta

    That's the one! Thanks. :D

  • @Dethenger It's from Doin it Again from 1990

  • Heh, nice work on the video :)

  • abso-friggin-lutely!!!
