  • COMPLETELY RUINED "GET READY" . WHY CANT WE SEE THE WHOLE THING INCLUDING THE DRUM SOLO. FAIL FAIL FAIL

  • If Christian music was this good, I'd listen to it every day! The sad thing about Christian music today is that the words and messages are great but there's almost no musicianship, in my opinion. I love the funky bass here, Joe's drumming, and the whole "jam band" feel while proclaiming a great message.

  • Did anyone else notice he has a George, John and Paul in his band.

  • @danomano812 I've listened to Joe since lights in the world. I totally never saw that. great observation.......

  • These guys totally ROCKED!!!!

  • I saw Joe many times with Jam Factory in Upstate NY in 1971 & 1972. He was great on "Mercedes Benz."

  • Hi there,

I believe that players on this video are: George Cochini & Paul Brannon, guitars; Tim Smith, bass; John Lawry, keyboards and Joe English himself, drums.

  • Who's palying bass? Is the Brignardello?

  • NOOOOOO FRAKIN' WAAAAY!!!! Awesome!!!!!!

  • These guys really sounded great and played well as a band. I love Joe's vintage Tama drums and Paiste cymbals. Nice video as well.

  • Thanks for this video. Brings back a lot of memories:)

  • I think the Guitar player in the middle played for Amy Grant years ago. It was on a TV appearance.

  • @lacylacynook Are you talking about the one with the Les Paul, or the one with the Tele? Either one may have, but the one with the Tele (I believe is Brian Tankersley) bares a resemblance to Dana Key, who also played with Amy in the beginning of her career.

The one with the red jacket is, I think, George Cocchini.

  • I think this guitar player played for Kenny Marks and other performers.

  • This is great , what a band , what a voice , what a drummer , Great .

  • I liked this band when they were together.

The lyrics were simple but they were top rate musicians.

Was bummed when the concert was canceled due to low ticket sales.

I think everyone was too much into that woman singer.........Amy........something.

  • What a shame

  • Joe is a great guy and a wonderful musician. Beauitful powerful voice. I used to go to church with him.

  • I knew this guy very well. I was stuck @ that WOFF cult not to long ago. He's still a great guy, an amazing singer; but Jane (the Leader) is still trying to make him into something he isn't- her mouthpiece.

  • Also- its not because of ankle trouble that he doesn't play the drums anymore- again its Jane who says "drums are of the Devil."

  • If you made it out, how come he's still there??

  • u guys wont believe me but my name is joe owen english honest on my brothers account darren dont give me all shit that my name isent joe english please cause that is my name if u got a problem reply to me

  • English played the snare with his right hand and the hi-hat and ride cymbals with his left, a technique commonly termed "open handed". He has been unable to play drums professionally since the late 1990s, due to chronic ankle health issues.

As of 2008, English lives in Spindale, North Carolina. He is no longer involved in the music industry. However, he maintains his interest in music as a member of the choir at the church he attends

  • I never knew Joe played the drums that must have been rough on him

  • Yeah...he was actually a great drummer, and a concert I will never forget when I saw him back in the 80's. Joe English also played with Paul McCartney and Wings. You can find him on an album or two. Great person though.

  • He also played for a group called Weather Report.

  • Thankyou for posting. Sure was a great band. His albums are great, too. A very unique drumming style, I wonder if he's left handed (Phil Collins plays the same way.) Joe was exciting to watch in Paul McCartney's "Rockshow" video. In a later video, McCartney said Joe left because he was "homesick". I wonder.......Anyhow, great stuff. Thanks. I miss this kind of musicianship. Don't really hear it much like this anymore.

  • Great video. I love the band. Also, one of my most favorite recordings is AKA Forerunner (also known as the Joe English Band). Are you familiar with that album? I wish I could find it in a CD, but so far have not been able to. They are great musicians. The guitar player, Paul Brannon, is excellent. Really all of them are. And the songs are just great songwriting.

If anyone can add some information about them here, would love to find out about them. Thanks!

  • I wish you could purchase his music on CD. My brother had an old cassette of the "What you Need" album. His song "Take the Cross" was one of my favorites when I was in college.

  • He also had carpal tunnel in his arms that prevent him from playing as he would like. I'm sure he still sings well, we all miss him.....

  • Oh, I just love Joe English. I have heard that he is living in a small town in NC, has bad leg problems and can't play anymore. He's music minister at his church. What a great ministry he had!! He gave his whole heart even when he was performing in a church, or a skating rink. Awesome!!! thanks for sharing.

  • Great stuff! This brings back a lot of memories. Love Joe and John Lowry! Love these songs...

  • John Lawry is the best!:)

  • oops, the hardest thing is to "drum" and lead sing. maybe dreaming and lead singing is as well!

  • this two part doc. is great! i saw joe english in independence, mo back in late fall 1984. robin crowe opened. jon lawry had left the band so they had a different keyboard player, but it was amazing to see joe english dream and lead sing at the same time. i believe the most difficult thing to do. i wish he were still out there, but i know he has issues. what a talent!

  • George Cocchinis' meticulous dedication and hard work along with drummer , singer Joe Englishs' talents , made for a can't miss successful sound. The three of us were inspired

by the 'Pythod' in Rochester N.Y., where it all

began. Sure do miss my old buddies..

  • I wish someone would post some of his music from his "What you Need" album. My favorite songs were "Take the Cross" and "What you Need."

  • Not sure where this was filmed, but if it was at Ichthus 84 I'm pretty sure I was there. This was a great concert, the band sounded awesome and smooth.

  • One of the best drummers Paul McCartney ever had! As you can see he's a very good vocalist as well, I always loved the Wings song Must Do Something About It that features Joe English on vocals.
