I was at their show in Istanbul a month ago. I think they're pushing hard to achieve something as a remembrance of all the good things past - yet in quite a tasteless way. People of the 70s knew how to play their guitars whereas it turns into a parody of these times without being funny or humourous but boring... Boring!!!

Actually hipster's the opposite of what they are. Pretentious... hahaha maybe but I don't know you can prove it. I'm like russcpb in that I don't particularly have anything against Radiohead. But hipster means someone who is obsessed with what's popular and is a junkie of pop culture. The Fiery Furnaces defy pop culture with original music like nobody else's. Which, by definition is the very opposite of "hipster".

Ok. For the whole Radiohead vs FF argument: Radiohead is uninspired snore music. It's repetitive, bland, predictable and totally poisoned by the mainstream. The FF not only have the guts to announce how much mainstream bands suck but release epic unrepetitive masterpieces like Blueberry Boat and Widow City, AND re-arrange their songs almost every time they play them live. There's no competition. Radiohead has more defenders because.. duh they're the same as every other band which = zombie fans.
