  • I don't blame her. Let's get real, dudes. Don't even tell me you would stay with your wife if she became sick or maimed.

    I know you wouldn't.

  • @gal5131 What you mean is you know your husband didn't stay with you when you became sick or maimed.

I helped nurse my wife for 2 years until lymphoma took her away from me. I loved her even more with each passing day and the thought of leaving her never occurred to me. Anyone who leaves a sick partner is sick themselves but sick in the head instead of the body.

Only a fucktard would leave a sick partner.

  • @DoggiestyIe - Yes, that is what I meant. I got cancer and he walked out the door.

Bless you for being a good man and staying with your wife.

  • @gal5131 - Well your husband was a bastard. I understand if you have a hang-up with men at the moment but most people, male and female, stay with their sick partners. You just got doubly unlucky getting cancer and then finding out what a bastard your husband was.

I hope you beat the cancer and your current/next partner is a better man. Good people are out-there, you just have to find them and cling on to them when you do.

  • i went to the laundromat for the first time since i got in this dammit wheelchair. sitting out front, smokin' cigarettes & waitin' on my warsh to, this song was going through my head as well as thoughts of my sweetie and how we've gone out seperate ways recently, plus feeling pretty damn sorry for myself cuz good gravy, what woman would want some cripple for a partner O_O

it is so hard not to be negative. john trudell said "empty arms are obvious reminders of empty arms". love done gone to town

  • this song makes me remember you at your best, brings tears in a sad way because I miss you, and more so we all do, and grandma more then misses you! RUBY is lost without you! love you grandpa!

  • burr...cold

  • Nothing worst than feeling lonely when you're IN a couple.

rien de pire que de se sentir seule...dans un couple...

    :-(

  • I wish someone would do a dubstep version.

  • did you ever think she was lonely as well, just because you are in a relationship doesn't mean you can't be lonely.

I go home ever night just to be sitting alone and being lonely.

  • wow this song cause so much pain just look at the comments

  • Comment removed

  • Such a shame that this song is just as relevant now as it was back in 1969. Then it was about Korea & Vietnam. Now Afghanistan.

  • its the mans fault for picking the wrong kind of woman to get with ,, a good woman would stay by your side till the bitter end

  • grrreat song, in my opinion

  • Before you make comments about the wife please check-Geraldine Stevens - Billy I've got to go to Town - 1969

  • @MsBlondestar huh, cheers for that mate!

  • @MsBlondestar Thanks for posting that, it really puts a new perspective on the song.

  • ♥ lovelovelove

  • @nicktesla45.I'd back Ogre up as well as stonebridge. So it would be more of a 1v3. But lets take a page from nick's own book and block him. He isn't worth the trouble.

  • @AISim Agreed. nicktesla is moronic. Hes completely incapable of seeing that I was parodying him. We dont need to read anything more that he has to say.

  • Go and take your love to town you WHORE!

  • @nicktesla45 Sir, please learn to respect people. At least for the man in the song if no one else. Imagine if your legs were bend, broken and paralyzed from trying to protect the one thing you love. Wouldn't you want to be treated with dignity? Respect? I may disagree with your attitude towards people but I'll be damned if I wont fight for your right to have it.

  • I'm 16 years old and we had to listen to this song because you were learning about the Vietnam war and I can't stop listening to it damnn goood song lol

  • @Youmerightnow It's not actually about the Vietnam war. It's actually a reference to the war in Korea; just as pointless, just as futile, but in a different decade and in a different part of the world.

  • @eggmangoogoogoojoob We'll sorry my history teacher said it was about the vietnam war soo get off my back dick

  • @eggmangoogoogoojoob Does it really matter which war it is about? The results are the same in this case.

  • @lindabade Truth is, it isn't just about war - life can bring similair things like this without guns, bombs and bullets......

  • for god sakes turn around... such a bad ass line

  • Such a terrible, bitter song, but so beautiful and sad in it's expression. If I could move I'd get my gun and put her in the ground is an awful thing to say,but the narrator is living a desperate life and has lost his sanity. His country has forgot him and so has his wife. It happens every day.

  • @chrisb073 - This is one of the BEST SONGS of all time - about one of the BEST SHITBIRDS of all time!

ANYONE, a woman or a man, who walks-out on their disabled veteran spouce, is a shitbird, and, 'should be' "put in the ground" - as a rite of passage!

I saw good military men (actually, KIDS), go "nuts" when this happened to them, while I was in the US Navy! It completely "KILLS" a man's spirit, ambitions, persona, and, manhood!

A great song that tells a story of great pain and disgust!

  • @classiclistener01 Sometimes when people get disabled they become hard to live with because they have a chip on their shoulder. And some that I have known don't think of anybody but themselves and not the feelings of there spouse and kids.

  • @keaton1895 - Yes, you do have a point! Some disabled people are like that, or, gradually become like that.

  • @nicktesla45 you heartless idiot

  • @nicktesla45

Ruby got shot in the head for acting like a cunt, maybe the same thing will happen to you :)

  • @stonebridge999 Are you threating to shoot me you piece of shit ? Are you in the habit of Threatening Karate Black Belts like me you lowly MORON ?!! All over a stupid song ??!! I dare you to meet me alone in a dark alley you spineless asshole !! YOU ARE BLOCKED YOU SONOVABITCH !!!

  • @nicktesla45

No I'm not threatening you, it's just wishful thinking. Secondly, announcing that you're a karate black belt like it's some sort of accomplishment or measurement of how tough you are is pretty sad. I know two black belts, they're both pussies...

  • @stonebridge999 You call that wishfull thinking ? To Kill a man over a stupid song ? You must be the kid of Idiot that would shoot somebody over a stupid one dollar bet on a game of pool ! You need a head shrink young man really really bad . Please don't bother answering my comments ! YOU ARE BLOCKED ASSHOLE !!

  • @nicktesla45 meet you in an alley? Do your adversaries often buy plane tickets to take you up on your threats? At least you are both in the states, wont need a passport to get vengeance.

Ironically you actually might be a tough guy, but your need to announce it says something about your confidence in your skills.

When I was a bouncer, I saw that the really tough guys had no need to posture the way you do. You are kinda pathetic, you know? I know! If it helps you feel better, threaten me too.

  • @OgreProgrammer You must be joking! First of all I NEVER tell anyone (Except morons on U-tube) about my Martial Arts Skills or that I am a Black Belt . I believe in the (Element of Surprise) as all real warriors do. And I Never NEVER threaten anyone unless they ofend me first. And if someone threaten me I do Not Threaten Back, I simply walk up to the fool like I am going to Applogise and In the Blink of a Fucken Eye I will break his fucken leg or worse. Dont fuck with a Wolverine's Soul !!

  • @nicktesla45 A Wolverine's soul? Who are you, fucking Charlie Sheen?

No, you are a 65 year old arsehole who wants random people on youtube to think hes awesome.

Oh by the way, I am a millionaire and I'll sue your nuts off if you fuck with me. You'll be so poor, you'll have to boil your Gi to make soup.

See how pathetic and unbelievable that sounds? Thats what it sounds like when you say you have a black belt. Even if you really do. So stop.

  • @OgreProgrammer Fuck !! I though I blocked you ugly ass !! I 'll have to try again ! And by the way Chuck Norris is older than me But would you want to fuck with him ? I don'T think so !! I may not be as lethal as I was 15 years ago BUT one single asshole like you would be a No Sweat Job for me. Millionare? ha ha ha ! You sound like a second-hand version of Donald Trump and he's an Egotistical piece of crapp and a fucken joke, Sue me and die you pathetic ugly Tapeworm! You Slimy parasite!

  • @nicktesla45 Your reading comprehension sucks as much as your fighting skills, mighty hamster. I was parodying you. You are no more of a fighter than I am a wealthy man.

Ah, forget it. You dont even know what parody is.

Did you find the block feature in youtube yet? Thats right, it doesnt exist, much like your black belt.

  • every guy knows enough is enough is enough.. nothing to do with violence

  • It's about a Korean War veteran based on a World War II veteran who was neighbors with Mel Tillis.

  • The killers always makes ugly songs sound better ..... The killers song is better

  • This is one of the most timeless and enduring tunes of all time... It's worth buying it, IMO.

  • Buy this song??Yeah right.I just convert videos to mp3's for free.

  • The Killers cover is better

  • "the shadow on the wall tells me the sun is going down" are probably the loneliest words in this classic.

  • @bigbiscuit100 i think the best words in this song are " ruby don't take your knickers down "

  • @bigbiscuit100 a woman who left you cuz you're legs are bent and paralyzed in an unnecessary asian war, is prolly somewhat more lonely inducing..i'm just saying

  • @ultrakool I agree...but the winter shadow on the wall, which is the sign to him that she's about to leave for strange men, is symbolic to him of his situation. i would think watching that shadow and knowing what it would bring would be a very low and lonely feeling. that's all i meant by it.

  • @bigbiscuit100 ok, i see your point. just let me go off and defend my country and come back to a cheating bi-atch :(. she and her suitor will greet my paralyzed, crawling self to their doom. mark it down! ;p (as i wheel myself off to a better place)

  • I love Kenny. Did you know that this song is based on a true story? Kenny Rogers almost married a Vegas prosititute that he met in Memphis. They were engaged for a while, but she couldn't leave her life of prostitution and eventualy did take her love to town. Poor Kenny.

  • The song was written by country star Mel Tillis (father of Pam) about a disabled Vietnam veteran appealing to his philandering wife to stop cheating on him

  • @savesprinkles5678 kenny rogers is not the author of nor the original performer of this song, so your story is moot

  • @goodgodgivemeabreak lol, you're 100% correct. I was just being silly!

  • Anyone who walks out on their spouse is a jerk... May we all learn to forgive ourselves and those around us... And be the kind of people we want others to be...

  • Man I love Vietnam songs and this is probably the best

  • Anyone hear this in Rio Das Mortes?

  • It took me a while to get this song since I'm only 16, but now I understand that it's about Vietnam. love this song

  • Ruby, don't take your love to town (said Berlusconi).

  • Comment removed

  • silvio berlusconi --------> Ruby

  • In 70-71 we were told Don 't take your love to the nam.

  • Luv this, Susan if you ever catch this its for your dad, JH RIP.XXXXX

  • Such a good anti-war song.

  • is this country, yeah?

  • Muy buena cancion!

  • I just lost a leg and this song has incredible new meaning for me

  • What year was this song from? Obviously Vietnam era, but wonder what year.

  • @davidgrahamdeb Thank you!

  • @23SarahBeth This Song Was Released In The Summer Of 1969

  • @23SarahBeth Summer 1969

  • @DAF1953 Thanks

  • Im like Micky , i love everything, Songs like this is why!, beautiful rock& roll, country, soul , rythm & blues, classic,, salsa, my latin music, but thank God im not t only one, Music is something so special, it has been my partner all my life !!!,

  • My god what a song!

  • love this song,,real song, i dont like country music, but this is kick ass

  • Wow. Never thought I would open this up to listen to an old song and see WW3 broken out in the comments section! LOL Oh, well...it's good you guys have passion for something. Too many folks just don't care about anything anymore.

  • I'm not much of a fan of any new country, most of it is spineless and lacks any kind of edge. Songs like this put all that new crap to shame.

  • you poor pathetic lost soul. It still evades you.

  • It's a good song as it demonstrates that love today is shallow. No loyalty, just the love of thy self.

Ruby is symbolic of this country's high divorce rate, where people no longer take for better or worse seriously. Today we love only ourselves and that is why this country is in failure.

  • not into country music at all-this song is the only exception! love this tune and the story it tells....

  • @seanandtracey1

Am not into Country music either, though I do have Kenny Rogers and Don Williams albums. Those two are the only exceptions. And this here is a great track.

  • go rednecks :D

  • Great sound. Was looking for a good upload. Thankyou.

  • not a big fan of country music but this is a great song

  • loooove this song, makes me in a good mood :)

  • @sandralundell why? this song makes me sad :-(

  • Love it. Oh, listen to the purity of his voice.

  • I usually am not into country songs at all. But this one always makes me smile :)

  • Mel Tillis out did himself when he wrote this. It's one of my all time favorite songs. I love KR.

  • nur schön danke für das posten

    thx for posting nice quality

  • reminds me of my uncles ranch. ridin horses and boozin up at night with cowgirls ;)

  • ditto Edgyist.. I love this song and this is the best quality I found.. thank you

  • PRECIOSO

  • this was my favorite song when i was 5

  • songs are not made like this any more

  • reminds me of the vietnam war....

  • withinlines

  • love that song and now my beautful niece is called ruby

  • Superb song & performance filled with emotion.

Remeber it was one of my late Dad's favourite songs.

Nobody can condone violence but the guy justloves her so much & is just pleading with her to wait until he is gone.

Surely anyone who has been in love could understanf that

  • @Yantofullpelt ----Its just a song,take it easy!

  • @Yantofullpelt this is not just about love...this a "stop the war" kind of song..The guy was paralyzed after Vietnam..and found himself no being able to f*** his woman..shitting his pens.. ..The woman couldn't handle this new crushed half of a man..and started giving it to others....The tragedy of a guy that thought he was a patriot serving his country..and who destroyed his life for a war that was not his.. Am I close?

  • @PaharCuPai

Are you kidding? No it's not some liberal morons anti war stupidity, it is about the lack of moral fiber and commitment we now have today.

  • @bailenforcer man... that's just my view ,,you don't have to get nasty on me... "liberal morons anti-war stupidity"???? "anti-war" is nor a stupid thing....It is actually the opposite... unless you own a gun company..or an oil pump on some Arab land....or just by being a psychopath .. MORAL FIBER ?!? you just used "anti war stupidity" and "moral fiber" ..in the same phrase.... that's out of my league man.. :)) You are something else... Love is not shallow.Love IS.(or not)

  • @PaharCuPai You must be some fools child. No one can be this stupid. Yes it takes MORAL FIBER to honor a marriage agreement as opposed to what you support, running off and fucking anyone she feels like. For better or for worse really means something you imbecile. It means I will stand by someone no matter how rough life gets. I hope when you are old enough to feel love you get to feel the pain of someone running off with someone else. Then it will become clear to your simple mind.

  • @bailenforcer i was referring to you.... you are not the man to talk about MORAL FIBER because you discredit yourself by saying "anti war stupidity" ..I agree with what you said about relationships..and i've been there...when I was younger. Love is love.... it supposed to be one of the most important thing in our existence ..or the most important.. I've said earlier..i feel that guy's pain.

I guess we talk about different things..and you are a bit trigger happy. Peace man.. chill..

  • @PaharCuPai Maybe I need to get out the crayons? Anti war stupiditym yes much of the anti war movement is stupidity, where lemmings follow a leader. They have no clue what they protest and 99% of the time are clueless. There is nothing wrong with taking exception to a war for bad or no reasons. But most of the anti war idiots are following leftist ideologies they don't even understand, thus it is called stupidity. There isn't enough room here to get in depth sadly.

  • @bailenforcer ok man. I'm just against killing..against war...This is 2010 ...no war is justified..Wars are made for profits and control...for oil and other resources...War is a scam......and its painful.

  • @PaharCuPai I would hope all people are against unjustified killing, and war. Other than self defense there is little reason to take a human life. To this we agree.

  • @PaharCuPai We were warned by many to beware of the Military Industrial complex. ROME is the cause of all wars with their manipulation. You can trace every war since the 1400's to Rome/Vatican and yes even Vietnam, and Iraq today.

  • @bailenforcer I know...i've been learning about this truths in the last 3 years... We've been lied to...big time.... Knowing hurts .....but it is necessary......

  • @bailenforcer i agre tht wars are religious based but i dont think you can blame rome as in the vatican as you are insinuating lets be fair here, iraq afganistan etc etc etc are jus mindless people who want to make a point about people like us not living the way they do, in my eyes we should pull all troops out of everywhere and let them get on with it !!

  • @keithmorgan100 google Catholicism & Islam: Ties That Bind and read carefully. And then google this Total Onslaught The Islamic Connection when done watching think about this. Mohammad at age 25 married a ROMAN Catholic NUN who was ordered by ROME to marry him. He was Jesuit educated and the Quran was ghost written by a group of Jesuits priests . Want more, then watch and read the evidence I gave you first.

  • @bailenforcer be honest now! are you just anti establishment or just someone who really supports all these wars etc? it sounds to me that you seem to like the wars and religion etc if thats the case your just sad!! there should be no wars at all and if you get a kick out of posting these things then so be it but your sad really SAD!!! so what if a NUN was told to marry some one thats there religion not mine so i dont give a monkeys!! get a life!!

  • @keithmorgan100 Read and watch what I posted then run off at the mouth. Right now you are sounding like a foll talking shit about something you are ignorant of. But your true colors are showing, you are not interested in the truth, you want to silence those who tell the truth, typical Roman Catholic tactic. Your words ring hollow if you wont educate yourself to the truth.

  • @bailenforcer thats where your wrong ASSHOLE! im not ignorant i read i watch the news etc etc!! probably the same as you! cause you cant be there all the time you can only belive what people are saying on the news or in the papers, ive no need to educate myself to the truth as you put it, my life is my life i dont want to worry about whats goin on in this world i just worry about my kids and my life and the way its goin, oh and by the way im c of e not catholic if you know what c of e is!

  • @bailenforcer thats where your wrong ASSHOLE! im not ignorant i read i watch the news etc etc!! probably the same as you! cause you cant be there all the time you can only belive what people are saying on the news or in the papers, ive no need to educate myself to the truth as you put it, my life is my life i dont want to worry about whats goin on in this world i just worry about my kids and my life and the way its goin, oh and by the way im c of e not catholic!

  • @PaharCuPai The war referred to is the Korean war and not the Vietnam War. The lyrics seek the empathy of the listeners about a man paralysed from the waist down and 'Ruby' was seeking the affections of other men.

You are certainly correct with the latter parts of your inference. The reference of the lyrics to 'Crazy Asian War'. He does indeed love Ruby however it is made for the listener to infer what he would put in the ground. His rifle or his woman although it is assumed it is Ruby.

  • @HoodedFig900 I've learned later that the war in this song was The Korean. I do know this is a "love /jealousy /lost" type of song, but i feel the guy's frustration and makes me hate war even more !!! The guy lost his mind...i understand his pain...i feel it...but that just made look at the source of his problems... This guy is a victim.... his mind is a victim...his wife was weak...also a victim... Victims of war.. Thank you for your decent reply. Peace! We dont need wars..we r people.

  • @HoodedFig900

LMFAO!! Are you serious? Put her in the ground is a rather long standing reference to KILLING her. He is saying he would rather kill her than see her sleep with others and be such a evil cunt.

Once people hand honor, I guess that point is lost to today's mindless generation. Once people would HONOR their commitments and not run off just because life got a little rough like all you people today do. Back them Honor meant something. Today the idiots can't even spell it.

  • @Yantofullpelt Yep!

  • @Yantofullpelt No. Hes possessive. The lyrics are not representative of love; hes not trying to please her.

  • damn nostalic man.

  • it still applies today.

  • This was a very touching song. I was a Teenager when I realized what he was singing about and it moved me...

  • i never really listened to this song before today. and i finally noticed what it's about. a very sad song. i still like it as a sad song, but i dislike these lyrics at 2:13 . murderous rage much?? i cant have sympathy for that!

  • This song is so sad, Kenny Rogers can touch souls just by singing this song, how amazing is that?

  • sooooooooo sad

  • one more thing a vietnam vet had to contend with.. damn that war

  • yeah, must like the war some of our unfortunate people are off fighting in the middle east right now!

  • @Yikespaco The song was written about the Korean war by Mel Tillis for a friend who came back wounded. But it does fit Johnsons rage on our youth of the '60's.

  • it will always be remembered as a vietnam war era song though...honestly.

  • oh RUUUUbbbbyyyy, don't take your tits to town...

  • this song is sad but very good im only 17 i used to sing this when i was 5

  • then my friend, you fate was cast.

    I'm sorry to here it!

  • great song one you can dance to, great

  • love this song...my 1 year old daughters called Ruby so i sing it to her all the time

  • Finally I found one with a good sound track!!! Thank you!

  • thats what i was talking about..watch it be deleted because of copyright infringement..lol..

  • ruuuubyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • For God's sake turn around! Awesome song!!

  • A timeless song--One of the best he's ever done..

  • But it is just as important today than at the time it came out . Even though it was written for a Korean War veteran , there could have been no better time to release the song . A lot of our soldiers were coming back paralysed from injuries during the Vietnam War , just as today when many are coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan .

  • There's a big difference fromt he war in vietnam and the one in iraq. The people in vietnam were drafted, they had no choice. In iraq they're going of their own free will, so if they get their legs blown off they have only themselves to blame.

  • Lol ! Could be ! But seriously , this song was written by Mel Tillis about a friend of his that came back disabled from the Korean War . At the time it came out in 1970 , the U.S. was involved in the Vietnam War . Soldiers back then related to this song as thousands of them were coming back with physical and emotional scars , even with their legs "bent and paralysed" . These men came back alienated from a public that denounced the war . The same is true for those who served in Iraq .

  • @Medic83301

Exactly it was in fact about Vietnam. For those who don't know Vietnam is in Asia.

  • Shopping what you think??? LOL

  • She's only gone into town to do a bit of shopping....jesus kenny dont be so possessive

  • lol
