the original name was jazz land.. it was failing & about to close when six flags purchased it..six flags added more rides but it was still bleeding money...most people go to new orleans for the french quarter & this park was about 40 minutes away in slidel...katrina was the final nail..six flags covering their losses took the insurance money & walked away

We live less than an hour from here, in Mississippi and knew this was the worse possible place for an amusement park. The land stinks and the neighborhood is even worse! Jazz Fest was a Flop and Six Flags was stupid enough to buy it!

@critique45 the whole park sat under salt water for over a month, all motors and controls were completely destroyed. Any wood, completely rotted. Six flags wanted nothing to do with it, the city wants nothing to do with it, graffiti artist do. It may be trespassing, but its not like anyone truly cares. If anyone really did their would be a better fence, i have been and you just walk right in pretty much.

I live in Scranton, Pa. First of all, my heart goes out to all those effected by katrina. After seeing this video, it kind of reminds me how our park (rockey glen park) was taken away from us. Not by a catastrophe but by mostly politics. Anyway, I really do hope that someone with enough brains comes in and takes it over. That would only make sence..you dont have to build anything. perhaps pay back taxes and some new electric wires and stuff. put 5 million in the place..and your good.

@pierzedntattooed Ive heard a bunch of rumors.Six Flags offically removed it from their website and their park listing. Nickelodeon was talking about buying the park to re-brand it but they backed out. one video from the park says the land was sold and it would be torn down for scraps in Jan-2011, but the city says thats not true. my guess is it will sit there, because the city doesn't want to spend the money to have it torn down. the land it sits on is awful to build on. its like a giant bowl..

@PunkBoy755 six flags built the 6ft ring around it to protect it from flooding sadly when the power went out during Katrina the pumps stopped that is why the park is so bad, well that and the fact the pumps would have been submerged.
