Regarding engine design, did you include durability of various parts? Did you make it so that someone can't just go for ridiculously thin sidewalls and super high compression ratios then give their cars 80 year powertrain warranties and have nothing to worry about?

@thekkl Yes! there is a "mean time to failure" and more highly stressed engines that aren't strongly built, or low quality engines will fail much sooner

@jediman6722 Unfortunately, not at release - devs won't make crappy driving sim, and good driving sim would take infinite amounts of time to make (at least with 2-man team). However, exporting car to driving sim IS considered.

Is the engine modeling based on a modern classical physics engine, or is it pre-determined algorithms? Also, what language is it programmed in?

@rustlerboi1052 Its mostly not physics based, just our own calculations that give realistic figures. The game engine is in C++ but most of the game logic is in LUA

If you created a real physics based function for the engine, I think this could go beyond a simple car modeling game. If there was a oscillatory, trigonometric subroutine or function for the engine modeling, I would totally buy this game. If you want I may be able to send you some engine calculation Xcel Spreadsheets if your interested... The auto industry is missing a simulator with a legitimate user interface... You could take this to a completely different level.

make sure you include all engine times and powering sytems --> wankel, 1 - 16 cylinders, helicopter engine, steam engine, Water cooling vs Air Cooling, single turbo to 8 turbos!, supercharged, and both at the same time (compund charging like in the lancia s4).

Q: are you going to be able to drive the cars at all?

Also if your going to be able to sell the car on a market i think you should be able to create aftermarket parts, such as bolt on engine parts maybe spoilers or body modifications that would help sell the car

As in, you'd have the Yup Grande for example, and then the Yup Grande Turbo would be one with a better engine and a more agressive looking front.

@Goofnut00 Yep, different versions of your car is going to be the way to do that, and when you think about it not many manufacturers really offer aftermarket parts, the major one I can think of is TRD, but its not common.

You wont be able to drive the cars, much as we'd love to do that, we're only a 2 man team and to do it properly would add YEARS of work, and its a challenging enough task as it is.
