  • fake and game

  • and in that short interval you will freeze to death.. If you miraculously hadn't already..

  • I can see spots where it is always dark

    lets me hope =P

  • Science used to be a place where I could relax and ignore politics and controversies and shit that plague the human world. It was an escape for me. Facts were my best friends.

But then I got internet access....

And now I can't view any information about any good scientific topics that interest me without running into some stupid psuedoscience asshole selling his stupid snake oil about conspiracies or some bullshit.

Fuck you conspiracy theorists. Fuck you HARD!

    You killed my inner-child.

  • For someone who loves facts, you seem to hate technology. Facts are only how we perceive them to be.

What's upside down to you, might be rightside up to me. What's half empty to you, might be half full to me.

The world is full of conspiracies. I bet you harbor alot of conspiracies, but in your mind, you perceive that you are doing the right thing. When you look at the Moon, do you see it as being rightside up or upside down?

  • "For someone who loves facts, you seem to hate technology." Quite the contrary. I'm currently studying Information Technologies in college. Don't make stupid assumptions about people you don't know.

"When you look at the Moon, do you see it as being rightside up or upside down? " I don't see how this question is relevant. In space there is no such thing as "upside down" or "right side up". It's only for cultural reasons that we see north as up and south as down. Clarifiy your statements.

  • How could water be frozen there, if there is no atmosphere?

  • Anything frozen is a solid and acts like any ol' rock. Ice on the moon would act like any other rock and as long as it isn't heated up enough to become a liquid (or evaporate) it will remain like a rock.

NASA is sending up a probe called LRO to chart the moon and look for frozen water in the deep dark and cold craters on the moon.

  • Hmmm....

One of those peaks is in light for quite a bit longer than the others......a peak of eternal light or almost eternal light maybe?

  • god's not real; get over it

  • ..........cool?

  • What is the height of the crater walls?

  • Doesn't the burden of proof about NASA murdering anyone (who exactly killed whom, when, how -- and why?) completely weigh your side? And don't forget Sagans burp about extraordinary claims.

  • Yes it does. Whereas the Moon Truth dorks are quick to throw cliched flimsy claims of NASA death, you'll notice they cant be bothered to produce even rudimentary evidence for it. They believe because it makes them feel important.

  • " Scientists speculate there may be water frozen deep in the shadows.... No one really knows...."

These space tidbits NASA release from time to time seem more about keeping the American public's interest up re' the "bold new future in space", which includes "mining of Helium 3 on the moon" and of course that old chestnut, manned missions to Mars.

Ten years ago they were projecting the first MMM TM for 2009. Believe no future, whether from politicians or from space agency fantasists.

  • I suppose its too simple to attribute all this delay to mere budget constraints and political waffling for more homegrown pork. Why believe the easy and obvious when a convoluted evil conspiracy is so much more fun? ;)

  • "I suppose its too simple to attribute all this delay to mere budget constraints and political waffling for more homegrown pork."

    Yes it is... I agree.

  • Well sorry, political laziness is far more likely than nefarious evil. Its not nearly as much fun to believe, but it is far more common and you know it.

  • "In my mind, you are yet to prove they went there in the first place."

Well, this may bruise your ego, but...

    No one asked you. ;)

NASA produced the vids and pics and etc etc etc FORTY YEARS AGO, and yet here you walk in decades too late pretending you are an equal voice the thousands of INTERNATIONAL scientists who pronounced this legitimate. You are too late.

When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you.

  • "NASA produced the vids"

You mean the ones from Apollo 10 that were clearly edited and broadcast live?

    "scientists who pronounced this legitimate"

Van Allen's own research confirmed the dangers of the radiation, and subsequently both Mauldin and Parker propose meters of shielding for GeV particles. Like the 10GeV cosmic rays that strike earth from all sides.

  • "You mean the ones from Apollo 10 that were clearly edited and broadcast live?"

Who said they were edited? Ten out of ten hoax kooks agree?

"Van Allen's own research confirmed the dangers of the radiation,"

I read Van Allen laughing at the hoax claims, and its obvious you're one of the ones who just like to yell "radiation" in crowded rooms pretending you know something about it.

    1) The Belts can be AVOIDED in leaving Earth orbit.

    2) Radiation isnt measured in eV. You're faking.

  • "Are you an official NASA spokesperson or just another space geek loser on U-T spweing his unwanted opinion ?"

    ;)

On the contrary, I appear to be the only man here educated properly, instead of reading the top ten quack websites and picking the stupidest one I could find as my unbiased source.

Tell me, how much radiation is actually FATAL to a human?

How much radiation is in space?

Since I went to school, I know the answers.

Since you didnt, you're going to fake your way out.

  • "But you haven't answered his point STM - about the A10 edited footage that according to NASA affiliates SCFs, was broadcast live and unedited."

I'm supposed to believe the word of a moon nut that it was even edited in the first place???

What the hell do you think I expect a quack to say?

As high an opinion as you have of yourselves, rest assured it lies only amongst yourselves, as I proved your own ignorance in space matters last time Mike. You dont get a second chance.

  • ooohhh mooon

  • me likey!

  • BadAstronomer, in the video description you mention going back to the moon. Was that like an eventually 'when' or is there actual plans, date set and all that, for a return to the moon?

    -Thanks

  • I may not be the BA but IIRC we are supposed to be going back around 2012.

  • "I may not be the BA but IIRC we are supposed to be going back around 2012."

Nope, the new date is now 2020 .. Or have they moved it forward yet again ?

I believe they can't "return" to the Moon until they manage to figure out how to develope the proper radiation shielding that will actually keep astronauts alive in deep space.

  • Just saw that NASA indeed said 2020.

Also we do have proper radiation shielding for the moon, the same stuff we used in the 60's. We just need to design something better than the rush job Apollo was.

  • "We just need to design something better than the rush job Apollo was."

Is that why Lovell commented the new CEV 2018 manned lunar setup is too much like Apollo?

The "big" differences in 2018 will be separate launch vehicles for crew and delivery; 3 astronauts to "land" instead of two and they will "stay" 7 days instead of 3.

"Think of it as Apollo on steroids" says NASA's Griffin.

Good to see the font of creativity still gushing strongly in Washington!

  • I haven't read what Lovell sis when he said that so I don't know.

But we did rush Apollo so we could beat the soviets. Bad wiring is what caused both Apollo 1 and Apollo 13.

Now that we understand how lunar landings work and what we need we can take our time and make something safer than Apollo.

  • "how to develope the proper radiation shielding that will actually keep astronauts alive in deep space."

Around here, "Radiation" is just big scary word phonies hear on TV and repeat, pretending they know what it means. Rarely, if ever, is it spoken by someone with the first foggiest clue about what space radiation actually IS, or how much is fatal. I would be aghast if just once one of these phonies would ask the opinion of an expert, and then actually listen to the answer.

  • Any idea what is the scale of this image: eg what diameter is the crater on the bottom right?

  • I saw creatures scurring around in that video Phil! Quick! Call Richard C. Hoagland! lol

  • Cool 10/10! Favorited!

  • WOW!!! 5/5

  • if i didnt feel lonely before i saw this..i sure do now..the silence would be surreal, i think

  • what temperature would those constantly dark craters be on average?

  • I'd guess -200 degrees F.

  • Cool! (especially in those dark craters)

  • coooool

  • Gotta love the moon. And Phil of course.

  • Nice.

  • first? o_O
