He would rag doll people when he hit them like a machine. They would fly away. Has nothing to do with his age now. In many interviews hes said he is thinking about retiring and his injuries are catching up with him.Plus if you've been champ for so long, do you really think you'd still be motivated?
Also you can just look at his frame now. Hes lost alot of his muscle mass and he doesnt looked as jacked up anymore. Also built alot more belly fat. Look at him from his Pride days. He had alot more muscle in his arms n shoulders. Thats how he was able to throw bigger people around without any trouble. I dont know if it was the unchecked roids in Japan that he might have been using along with everyone else, but his frame looks noticably smaller now. Hes my fav fighter so i watch him closely

@darkhorse339 Shane has devastating power, but that doesn't matter. The point is he won. Power is a big factor along with technique. We saw many times that power overcame technique. Power still adds on to skill. for example. Gina Carano vs. Cristine 'cyborg' Santos. Santos is all power, but she overcame Gina's technique. And Velasquez vs. Nogueira. Velasquez used a bit of technique there, but he still had more power to knock out the more mma experienced nogueira. And Shane did the same thing.

It was pretty much unchecked in Japan from what I hear. Power still adds on to skill. for example. Gina Carano vs. Cristine 'cyborg' Santos. Santos is all power, but she overcame Gina's technique. And Velasquez vs. Nogueira. Velasquez used a bit of technique there, but he still had more power to knock out the more mma experienced nogueira. And Shane did the same thing.

I dont see whats the big deal about an amazing record if you dont fight anybody. Fedors toughest fight was Arlvovski and he only won because Arlovski(one of the coolest fighters) turned off his brain.

The UFC HW division is full of destroyers. Valesquez, Carwin, JDS (Though I hate to admit this) even Lesnar. Fedor was the best once. But so was Royce Gracie. Same with Matt Hughes. Shit even BJ Penn is no longer the top of his weight class. It happens to everybody. Someday even GSP and Silva.

Matt hughes is 46-7(not for sure) but those 7 losses were to the best fighters, GSP twice, BJ Penn, and Thiago Alves among others. But the point is that If Matt didnt fight in the UFC he would be considerred just as could as Fedor, just because of the staggering number of record huggers out there.

I personally believe that Randy Couture (19-10, really 19-6 if he had the same sub defense in the 90's) has definately fought better competition than Fedor. Fedor has fought 4 maybe 5 names where Couture has atleast fought 13. See the difference you lose more when you fight the best. Fedor is still good but his weakness is on his back.
