It never surprises me when they do covers, it's 99.9% of the time BETTER! They definitely have their own unique sound. Nobody will ever recreate it...
WoW! Hell Yeah! Love The Go-Go's... listening to a lot of The Go-Go's, Hey You!, Blondie, Joan Jett, The B-52's, Avril, and No Doubt. really like girl singers :-)
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaaay dope. Rock/Pop/Punk with a real cool edge. Plus they've got a cute girl singer ;-) ....you should check 'em out...
This might have been a Go-Go's hit if they didn't break up back in 1985. The song was slated for the possible (but never recorded) 4th Go-Go's album... Crazy how life goes...
WOW! I love Belinda!!!!!!! She is one of my absolute idols! I didn't know she's still playing live with the band, perfoming the Go-Go's hits and her solo songs. She's absolutely BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING!!!
According to Belinda's autobiography, this song was originally a Go Go's song, which was to be on a 4rth album... which never came out (at least not in the 80's)
So I like this tune a lot...and I like how it is a bit heavier with the Go Go's live. But I think if they are going to start throwing Belinda songs into the set they need to throw in Jane Wiedlin's Rush Hour. Just sayin.
So nice that they included this amazing song in their live set. Belinda hasn't been performing "Mad about you" in her solo concerts for so long now... it's time she put it back in !
I took a buddy of mine to see the Go-Go's in Chicago the night before this show - he was shocked at how rocking this band is. If you ever gets a chance to see the Go's, this is no pop band when playing live. Buy a ticket, drive to see them! You will not be disappointed. Rock on girls...
We went to see them in 2002, in No. CA, when we still lived there, at Luther T. Burbank Ctr. and they STILL sounded spot on!! They got over their petty differences and do shows now but not trying to really prove anything, anymore as they r SO established! The 80's were the best in SO MANY ways, with the BEST tunes and MANY artist's that opened the road wide open. Hey, remember when MTV was good??!! Oh, the opulent 80's!! ROCK ON:-)
That '85 Go Go's album would have been amazing. "Blue Kiss" Go Go's line-up: oh my. I.R.S. just ripped them off blind. Their royalty checks were a joke compared to other artists with the rate they were getting.
This is absolutely brilliant. These women can do no wrong in my book. I love their music and i love their chemistry together. There is no one like them. By the way for those who didn't know,"Mad About You" was originally written for the Go-Go's 4th album by Paula J. Brown (who replaced Jane) before the 1985 break up.
Originally Belinda and Charlotte Caffey were going to be a duo and be credited as such on the first "Solo" album. But Charlotte wanted it "JUST" for Belinda.
prjr1973, a movie was to be made about The Go-Go's however they put a stop to it after the "Behind The Music" special aired. They all agreed it would just bring up a whole lot of dark memories, and also most of them are now wives and mothers and they didnt feel as if airing all of their past escapades would be a responsible or fair move.
No, not by a long shot. But you might want to check out The Runaway's...They kicked Motley Crew's ass... Joan Jett and Lita Ford togeather... Nuff said?
I was at the Chicago show the night before and I was floored when they played this. Rumoured to be one of the last songs they wrote before the 1985 break up and reworked into a huge hit for Belinda. Totally awe inspiring to hear it played in the 'original' Go-Go's style. Great stuff!!

I had always hoped they would start playing this ... now, if they want the healing to continue, they need to cover "Hazy Shade of Winter" ...

Didn't Jane sing backing vocals and I thought Charlotte played on the original as well. I recall thinking it was almost a Go Go's song at the time.
That Graces album is one of the most underrated records of all time. There are some really great songs and performances on it.

Groupies, opening acts, rodies..you name it, they did it. Their tour with INXS was wild!
INXS talked about it in their autobiography. They all slept with earch other and there were a lot of drugs involved too.
