You get a four stroke and a two stroke together of equal capacities (make no sense to compare any other way), and the the two stroke will absolutely annihilate the four stroke in the sand, and for three reasons, firstly the the two stroke will have heaps more torque, secondly the two banger will have heaps more horsepower, and thirdly the two stroke will be significantly lighter. There really is no comparison, your comment is way off

@prodeamihai cc's for cc's, 2-strokes have more power AND torque, that is a fact. A 4-stroke has a broader range of power and torque, but when talking about peak values, a 2-stroke will have more power and torque than an equal capacity 4-stroke.

my twin brother rides a 300exc. I ride a yz250. I really really like the yz better. Seems a bit more agile and more nimble to me. But hey, that's just me. I'll buy another yz250 long before I buy a ktm300.

then its something wrong with the bike. because an 300 2 stroke is the hell when you open the throttle. i had one sometimes for use when we had a little enduro event over here and its a great powerfull bike.

for myself, i ride an rm 125 and an crf450.

when i ride the rm 125 with all the other guys what ride great big bikes, nobody comes with me.

its just a question of your one condition and how fast you go tired.

If u have a look at all the enduro's such as red bull last man standing or enduro at erzberg most the winners are two stroke, 2 strokes are light weight quick and powerfull unlike big bore 4T cos only a big bore 4stroke can keep up with a 250-300 2stroke

yea ive ridden a gpx250 aswell cuz my mum owns 1. and the 300 is a 2007 model. maybe it is just a piece of shit cuz i had a drag against it on my rmz250 which should be slower but i kept with him all the way to the rev limiter top gear. he owned a kx500 b4 the 300. that was shit fast

I read some obscure reference that KTM was working on such a thing, I think it was one of the sources to the wikipedia article on KTM. Can't wait either. As carbs go, I think the Keihin paired with the KTM powerplant isn't too bad in the jetting department, although, I can't wait for the day when I dont have to bother with that stuff at all.

09 is not injected, and no, the problem with a 2 stroke's lower powerband has to do with the way a tuned pipe and a power valve work together. Do some research, because I am sure someone else has a better way of explaining it than I do. The idea with the 300 is that it has so much power, that even when it operates at say 20% of max output, you've still got plenty of it. Thats what a clutch is for anyway. Careful with huskies, because here in the US anyway, it can be a real bitch to get parts.

yeah id have to agree with twizti on this one. 300's are pretty mellow as 2 strokes go. I mean, theyve got the power too, but theres a nice low powerband there as well. It's not like a sx 250 or 200 exc that gases like a lightswitch. They call the 300 a 3 stroke, jokingly, because its about as torquey and smooth and 4 stroke like as a 2 stroke gets.

what about rider weight? no good talking bike weight if rider is 20kgs more and the only way to get more tired on lighter bike with lower centre of gravity is to go harder....2ts for bush 4ts for track....but everyone has own prefs. I ride 300 smoker my mates have 450 4ts they pack their bikes away while I ride home but we all have phat grins
