Tony Royster Jr is obviously a prodigy. There are plenty of guys who could practice a million hours and never even approach this level of drumming. This is god given talent and a stunning solo for anyone of any age. Lets skip the whole 12 year old thing. The solo has nice flow, technical difficulty, and musicality going for it. The bass drum and cymbal work are superb together. The negative comments amuse me as this kid would absolutely own virtually any of you. His playing deserves respect.

I can't believe how many times I've heard this tired old yeah but he's doing this with a double bass talk. First of all double bass only makes you look this much better if you've mastered double bass technique and have great feet. Secondly if double bass was the major difference why wouldn't more guys with double bass set-ups be able to play like this little beast. Over half the guys with double bass have it for show and barely know what to do with it. Not this kid.

I'm a big Dixie Dreg's fan and their fusion mix for lack of a better title is some very challenging music to play too. Rod is really an amazing drummer with some serious chops. this guy is 22 now, he's played with bands and sessioned but i heard that because he got so good so young, he cant play something simple because he gets bored and starts soloing in the middle of songs, so apparently people don't want to sign him because of this, so he cant hold down a job. forgive me if I'm wrong, but thats what I've heard.
