  • Would these work on decent sized salmon ???

  • "You're going to be eatin' good... I guarantee it."

    Sounds like a commercial.

  • I have used yoyo's for years on ponds and rivers. They are the next best thing to sliced bread for catching fish and turtles. you are right everyone should have a dozen of these in there survival kit.Nice video

  • he garuntees it it must be good lol

  • and how do u get that no slack on the string? Ive never seen a yo yo like tht? I havent done this before..

  • @stardej2000 you just pull it to the length you want and free float it in the water. Very simple once you see them. You can pick them up at most outdoors stores

  • 2 people will die without food.

  • Nice! Low energy investment, high rewards. (A lavalier mic is pretty cheap and really helps with wind noise).

  • Brilliant trap, I'm getting a couple of those. Thanks for upload.

  • Trot lines work, straight up they do.

  • Where can I get these traps?

  • @Cryingwolf81r Academy outdoors or almost any sporting goods store. Walmart usually carries them. Or just get them online

  • I think I got it. The monofilament leader is tied on to the end of the swivel and you can add a little bit or a lot depending on how deep you want it to go and then add a hook. Is this the concept?

  • @msungs exactly!

  • I swear this is my final question. I don't understand one thing. What size hook did you use. Did you use a hook with a loop made out of monofilament line to attach to the swivel or did you replace the whole device with monofilament line? Would this device work if I added a monofilament loop with a hook to the swivel? Is that what you did? You seem to have a lot more knowledge than I do on this subject and your answer is appreciated. Thanks!

  • @msungs for what size hook, it varies on the fish you are trying to catch. Try researching on it. For how he attached the hook, it doesn't really matter, but if you attached the snap-swivel directly to the hook, its more stronger than attaching it to a line tied to the hook.

  • @msungs I mainly use small hooks for this trap to catch smaller fish. It will catch larger fish but less effectively than small fish. You add a length of monofilament around a 1-2' long so that the fish doesn't get wary about biting it. The leader is stronger but fish won't bite it in clearer water. Its much more effective with the monofilament!

  • I have another question. I see that someone online wrote that the monofilament line is something that you have to buy separate and rig yourself. Is this hard, or did you use the monofilament line for something else?

  • One last question. My dad died when I was young and I lost some of my survival and fishing skills in the meantime. Do you want the hook and bait on the top of the surface since you are fishing in shallow water? What do you think about attaching it to a Water bottle and using that to cast?

  • Could you catch carp with this? I see that online it has a 60 lb line on it. Would you just have to tie it off on a big enough branch or tree?

  • smart system but a small ice fishin pool and a hook or lure would probly do better

  • looks like a small moth bass..... limblines work very well but you dont need the yo yo... just some string and a hook

  • @TheBasscomander Your right, you don't need them but they are much more efficient and higher rate of return

  • only issue where i live there are pike everywhere and they'll take a perch on a line like this in a heartbeat.

since there are lakes everywhere and most of them contain pike, perch, and walleye in abundance and close to shore i'd use pack rods seeing as they're such a staple.

small pack rod with a shimano 1000 won't weight more than 12-14 ounces and can land up to 10 pound fish easy.

  • these work for ice fishing too.

  • Nice. Thank you for the video. I'm assuming you put a lead sinker near the hook?

  • @00xanawolf00 nope, but you can do that also

  • Is it true that Yo Yo Ma endorses them?

  • i like a jug set. get it?

  • can i get one at Gander mtn?

  • @JIMMYJUSTICEanJAMIES yes they should definitely have some

  • are they easily breakable

  • @soccerandrew1991 No, I have never broke one. But for a few bucks it wouldn't be much of a loss if you did.

  • cool video but lose the yankees cap. thanks.

  • where do i get a yoyo trap??? :)

  • @Creator1232123 Academy sporting goods, outdoors/fishing stores, they can be found in many different stores!

  • been wondering about the yo yo. Now I'm going to go pick up a few. thanks.

  • Thanks! I've been looking @ those for years, but didn't know if they were worth it.

  • For something really small such as large rats. They might work on something as big as a rabbit. I would be worried the animal would completely trash the thing. But in theory it would work exactly like a spring snare. In fact the end of the line already has a clip to make a ready made snare. I may give that a try. Good idea

  • Thank you both

  • Best place to pick them up is from sporting goods stores like Academy, possibly walmart, or order them online. Academy is a sure bet!

  • I went to three different hardware stores and they had no idea what I meant when I asked for a yoyo. Is there another name for that? I would very much like to know because it seems like a very useful trap.

  • @louiedog32 Automatic fishing reel. They have them on Amazon.

  • I will make a video in the future about how to make a yo yo jug set. But these things are absolutely stupid proof. Just go buy yourself one at your local hardware store. Cost is usually 2-3$. You attach your trot line to the top hole next to the trigger. Add your line and baited hook to the end of yo yo cord. Set it at the depth you want and it is ready to go. Easiest thing in the world. Keep an eye out for that upcoming video! Thanks!

  • @sigma3survivalschool I agree. I am having a hard time visualizing how to do this and I would love to employ this. I am in Germany and I am not sure what this yo-yo device at the hardware store even is. Thanks.

  • Can you make a more detailed vid. on the yo yo set up I couldn't really tell how it worked
