Anyone heard both AOR Heaven release from Europe of this album AND 20th Anniversary USA edition??? Is USA edition better sound quality and mastered??? AORHeaven Europe version is not the best sound quality, sounds like mastered from an vinyl acetate not original master tapes - you can even hear crackles on few songs like vinyl record playing. If 20th USA edition is much better sound quality even though deleted I'll seek it out. Thanks!
Psssh... okay, hammer another nail into the Lexicon coffin for the sake of 'listening to the music' and avoiding confrontational discussion, instead of correcting misinformation.
The question "What is AOR?" was asked. The correct answer is "Album-Oriented Rock." That's how the discussion should have ended.
I listen to the second track of theirs and I think their music lacks sth... But I don't know exactly what it might be. I has not got what Boulevard has for example... But well - it's only my impression.
Guys does it really matter where the name comes from? Let it be - Amazing Oriented Rock. Does it matter in any way in the face of the fact that me and some of you love it?? I think that it doesn't. So leave this discussion alone and listen to good music!!
Does this comes from the same titled LP [Fortune -s/t 1985]? It's a pity here in Greece no way you can find aor gems like this one.. Long Live the 80's!!!
Yes, this is a song off the self-titled album on Camel/MCA, '85. The Harlan Cage rerecording on 'Double Medication Tuesday' sounds quite different. For one, Harlan Cage (though it's basically the reincarnation of Fortune) doesn't have a saxophone player. And i have several Greek friends who own all of the AOR/pomp classics, so it's quite possible to get them as long as you order online with for instance AORHeaven or Amazon (Marketplace Sellers). Thanks to reissue labels they're easy to get now.
The term AOR, originally "album oriented rock", derives from the name given to describe the style of music played by certain US radios during the early '80s, which in turn where called "album oriented radios". When the - at that time - new genre of album oriented rock approded to Japan, the japs, probably as a mistake, started calling it "adult oriented rock". Music fans and critics picked it up and starting using it insofar that it has become predominant.
