  • Super bad that people have to go through this.

  • Comment removed

  • "we are not god" exactly so who gives us permission to take a life whether granted or not...but on the other hand I hate to see people like this suffer and no people in this condition do not leave earth peacefully. It is a painful death and very very upsetting to watch a loved one die like this.

Very controversial subject. No human has the right to take another persons life period

  • @Smokie181 And thats called an opinion...we all have them -.-

  • Wow that was hard to watch. I have watched countless youtube videos over the years but as far as I can remember I have never been close to tears as I was during this video. I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like for her and I hope I will never have to know.

  • Hemp oil kills cancer. Look up 'Run From The Cure'. It' s the government and the pharma industry lobby that gets in the way of people having access to things that will cure cancer. This poor woman shouldn't have had to die.

  • all i know is suicide firms, that should be one business in which zero advertising is allowed for.

  • @Lyn7721 well ... it is a tough issue ... i know i would like to die if i were quadraplegic or terminally ill and in terrible pain ... .... what about children ? who would make that decision for htem? if it legal should a parent be allowed to do that? ...

  • @Lyn7721 do you think that terminally ill people under medication and probably very depressed and distressed cannot be manipulated psychologically to make a choice?

  • @Lyn7721 you make a good point but euthanasia is so final and there are no witnesses ... whereas with most other abuses the victim is also a witness ... i dont know ... i keep thinking of those few individuals that will die without wanting to ... by the way did you know that there is an active trade in organs? little children and adults are kidnapped, killed and their organs sold to rich patients in rich countries .. sad eh? it should not happen but there some would do anything for profit

  • @Lyn7721 if what you say were possible i would also agree but i dont think that this will not be abused ... and i dont think i would want anyone to be in effect murderer for organs ....

  • You can take a dog to the vet and say put it down he dos .A person like this young lady has asked for the same way out to end her pain and the answer is no why ?????????? If a person knows they cant be cured they should be given the right to end the pain WE ARE NOT GOD

  • This is so bad. Someone said "I hope she passed away peacefully" - the answer is no, there was an article on it, her brother said he had to hold a bowl while she threw up her own feces the night she died after suffering a complete bowel obstruction. It's unbelievable. I can't even comprehend it, this just leaves me absolutely crushed to consider. Every problem we worry about is absolutely meaningless in comparison. Poor girl, it's just heartbreaking.

  • @dannymaclamp My God, really? :( :( Literally that just made me cry. I'm doing something for school on euthanasia cause I feel so strongly about it. So been watching videos and reading cases and it's so goddamn heartbreaking. I don't understand how people can allow it to be illegal...

  • @HerGlassBones94 It's very true, it's very awful. I can't understand the opposition, the outcome for her was certain, she was going to die pretty shortly, yet I'd like to see one of these religious types say to her, instead of drinking something and drifiting away peacefully you need to go down in agonizing pain because suicide is wrong... It's an important issue, I think it's hopeful, most people in Western countries think it should be legal, change should come over the next decade or so.

  • Why didn't she does kill herself instead of trying to make someone else do it ?

  • @nags2bitches Well when you're weak, disabled and in constant pain, it can be kinda hard to try and off yourself. It's not as easy as jumping off a tall building, y'know?

  • @bnwy47 She had several weeks to stock pile drugs

  • I love you so much, I'm so sorry that people refused to have compassion on you. I pray I see you, if in an afterlife, and tell you that your letter made a difference. I hope the cruel and uneducated, those who have not suffered, may experience your woe for themselves, and then, lets see if euthanasia is still illegal. Rest in peace, for now and forever.

  • Rest In Peace, dear girl!

You deserved better. Many good points you brought up that have run across my own mind many times. Horse breaks it's leg -it's put down. A dog or cat suffering and no longer functioning with any quality of life -they're put down also.

A human being should have that right.

To look down at someone you love dearly, who is in wretched pain, and NOT be able to help them is horrible to experience. Out of compassion and love, people ought to be allowed to die peacefully.

    XX

  • @RockyWhyNott You do know that horses with broken legs can be fixed don't you ? They just don't bother because it's expensive, more convenient to kill it and take the insurance money. Human beings should never be reduced to that kind of cynicism so the law should most definitely remain as it is.

  • I hope and pray she died peacefully without pain.

    Lynn from Scotland

  • @feracat07 She didn't. Thats why voluntary euthanasia needs to be legalized.

  • No one deserves this Rest In Peace <3<3

  • The worthless losers that would prefer someone to fucking needlesssly endlessly fucking suffer rather than use thier right to end that suffering should all be raped mutilated and tortured endlessly until they are fucking begging for someone else to take thier life. That's what they deserve.Espeacially the doctors that make the money off any such person's needlessly extended suffereing when they could have just signed a paper but oh no it wouldve shortened thier paycheck

  • @Raquel66688 Your comment against suffer but calling for suffering and torture is really disturbing. Maybe some counseling could help you see that everyone is human?

  • Here we see an example of the goverments victories and superior hypocrasi! All goverments who practice such a inhumane treatment, must go and try to wash away the blood on their hands, and the goverment will fail everytime!

  • I fail to understand why 'Religions' like to take ownership of other peoples deaths.

Religions should keep their dictates to their own followers and not everyone else.

    .

Religious zealots - stop poking your nose into other peoples lives.

Debate has to be calm and objective not emotive and subjective

  • Once the dying process has begun, shortening the the time it takes to die, is NOT suicide.

  • I firmly believe that we all have the right to live and die in the manner we choose and that both the state and church needs to stay out of it

  • everyone who wants to die because of his disease is big pussy coward no matter how much harmful ur disease is life is still worthy to live and only god can take ur life not a stupid law or a right this law sucks this is total stupidity is that how you face ur life? you run from it u die? where is ur mind? where is ur determination to live? you keep running? you wanna end up in hell which is worse million times more than any disease go ahead be my guest fools!

  • @Littlefoot3559 God is nothing but trash if he (god is not even worth capitalizing) lets people who have done absolutely nothing suffer. Your god supposedly created the world and the universe, which he also created disease, war, and famine. In fact, your god seems to get his jollies by watching his creations suffer, even though they've done no wrong. It's trash like you that make me ashamed to be human. I hope you get the cancer that killed this woman, just so you can know her suffering.

  • @Prinnynation Ditto I totally agree

  • @Littlefoot3559 Its disgusting that you've used the words 'big pussy coward,' in the same sentence as God.

  • @Littlefoot3559 Your comments show you up as just another sanctimonious Christian fundy nutjob. But then, you don't really follow the teachings of Jesus, do you?

  • Comment removed

  • This was very difficult and heartbreaking to watch. Is sorrows me deeply to know and see that so many have and continue to go what this dear woman was forced to.

As a Christian and a libertarian, I firmly believe in not only the right to life, but also the right to die. No one should have the right to deny any person either of these rights for any individual. To do so is immoral, inhumane, the epitome of selfishness and sadism, and just plain evil.

  • This hurts beyond most anything else I've seen in a very long time.

    Bless you, sweet Angelique.

    Rest in the truest peace.

  • I am in the same position - I don't fear death - I fear dying

  • This stuff scared me.

  • Fuck belief in gods.

    Fuck belief in gods.

Those of you who believe in gods; This might be your fault! We need to start caring about life. We need to stop caring about the lie of after-life.

We need to realize that praying for a person in this condition does nothing. If you want to help people like this, you have to actually do something.

  • @theRekcabofD Animals have lives too. Think of it this way, We are humans, we all have a roll in our society. Animals have a role in THEIR society. Honestly, I think your point of view is lacking in thought.

Besides, this poor girl died just the way she feared - Vomiting up the contents of her bowels. Using the Nembutal would of saved her months of agony and she could die in peace.

I have also noticed that according to the bible, suicide is a sin, no matter the reason.

  • @theRekcabofD well then I feel sorry for your dog, seriously. You shouldn't have pets if you place their life so low. It's just human superiority. A complex so obvious in the way we've destroyed the world, because we're so much more important than the environment and the animals already on the Earth, right? It's so selfish, but you know, there's no point us debating this any longer. I have my opinion, you have yours; let's agree to disagree. Deal?

  • @theRekcabofD ..because by that logic, there's a lot of human lives that are worthless too then. As well as the fact that there's a LOT of humans that don't contribute to society and actually make it worse. I never saw the animal kingdom ruining this Earth and themselves like humans have.

  • @theRekcabofD you've obviously never lived with a dog if you think they can't be personal. Just because animals don't speak the same language as us, it doesn't mean they're inferior. It's not as black and white as 'they act on instinct'. When elephants gather around a dead carcass and mourn, is that instinct? When a dog rolls over to get his belly rubbed, or nudges you when you cry, is that instinct? Anyway, again, lack of 'intelligence' isn't justification for devaluing their life..

  • @theRekcabofD number one; there are lots of dogs that contribute to society; search and rescue, therapy and many more. Number two; you're not in a dogs brain to be able to say what their cognitive abilities are. Thirdly; what kind of justification is that? A mentally disabled person can't 'think, calculate and contribute' more then her, does that justify killing them and saying their life is less important?

  • @theRekcabofD unless you're going to give me a VIABLE reason as to why a dogs life is any less than a humans, I'm not going to support your claims. We put horses down because of that same reason; their life is seen as more throwaway than ours. That doesn't mean it's right. From when animals have been here longer than us, are more in tune with the environment than us, bleed red blood (well, mammals do), breathe, eat, shit, feel emotions, have families etc; I don't see the justification.

  • this dear gal should be spared the pain that seems inexorable towards

a certain end. God bless you, and it hurts to hear you in such a condition.

  • It's so wrong that someone doesn't even have the right to end their own life. Sickening.

  • @theRekcabofD these factors don't make her life any more important than a dog.

  • i hope you found peace Angelique. i hope your family and friends have found peace.

only those who have lived through cancer inc family can understand.

    and I agree.

    Bring on change

    x

  • SHE decides her movement to the next plain...totally the right of the person involved...no one should have any say....except her....

  • I pray Angelique has found peace. It took a lot to do this video, She is a brave, brave woman. Why some people have to suffer so much I can not comprehend.

  • @theRekcabofD Hospice is a program that takes care of people who are near the end of their life.

  • Peace, Angelique... I hope you found peace.

  • i'm just glad that i live in the netherlands, where the laws tend to be non-prejudiced and based more on common sense than other countries.. it's so annoying how there is even this uproar about these things in other countries!

  • I think the concerns are if it becomes legal, some worry when there are too many old folks draining funds and resorces will the governing power put an age limit on life.

I personally believe if you are terminally ill and suffering then the choice is yours and no one should tell you that you cant leave, a nanny state we live in isnt it

  • poor girl, may you rest in peace and it comforts me to know that you are not in pain anymore!

  • You cant even afford to kill yourself these days.

i would go to the woods tomorrow and bleed to death,

but i have rather chose to do this professionally with Dignitas

as i think it would be easier this way on my "Family".

i better start saving. i am so afraid.

    Where is god?

  • @666Desolate999 inbox me privately if you would like to have someone to talk to. You sound like you could use a friend who would listen to you...

  • Not allowing someone who is suffering from an illness that is torturing them to death to CHOOSE a quick death is cruel and sick

  • This is so sad. :(

  • You deserve to own the right to your body. It's wrong for government to violate what is a personal choice and should be a human right,. I will make this choice while I am still capable and not trapped in an institution forced to suffer. It's wrong.

  • I do support euthanasia if it's the best answer for the patient wanting it. However, I know a person that was written off by the doctors and was put into a room at a hospital where patients wait to die. Well lets just say he walked out of there and every doctor who was treating him are still probably scratching their heads today. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer which is basically a death sentence! The ironic thing is that his name means Luck!

  • she is so beautiful. i find it hard not to connect euthanasia being illegal with money. the human race is so sad. she shouldn't have to endure misery for no reason...

  • Very brave woman. Sad that she had to go through so much trouble. :/

  • This makes me sadface

  • Such a sad situation to have to go through, though my Catholic religion don't allow me to consent to her petition. I can't even imagen what she may be going thru there for I don't know how can someone who don't know jack of certain situations could just barge in and oppose over something they have no idea about, just cause. We must be a little more open minded and just step aside and let others. May this beautiful angel rest in peace.

  • @beba0447 please reconsider your religion , when it causes more harm than good, it cant be a good thing, even the pope condones peodiphila , god if he even exists is doing nothing. Man makes the rules, lets be fairer , more caring and loving than the so called "GOD" could ever hope to be. Free choice for all (even religious people)

  • Did the Prime Minister watch this video? Could not have been said better by anyone.

  • SHAME of Australian Government for not allowing VE. Well let me tell you if I want to enthanise myself at a time I choose I bloody well will. NO-ONE will tell me what I can and can not do with MY BODY.

  • In cases such as this where an obviously rational person suffering a terminal disease with no hope of recovery wishes to end their own suffering via euthanasia there can be no viable argument against it. However, the full legalization of the practice is a slippery slope indeed and it is with good reason that allowing it to take place must remain under strict scrutiny to avoid the inevitable abuse of the privilege by those who may have ulterior motives for wishing another to die quickly.

  • @OPHIOHANNAH: You said, "Allowing it to take place must remain under strict scrutiny". Well, nobody's questioning that at all. In fact, the people in favour of choice would themselves say: "go ahead and scrutinise it all you want". The problem is that the governments just don't allow it to take place under ANY conditions; scrutiny or no scrutiny.

Not allowing it under ANY conditions is completely different from strict scrutiny before allowing it. Hope you can see the difference.

  • This is so fucking sad. They force us to live a life we don't want to live. If their so-called god cared about us, maybe he or she would let thousand of kids die in africa of let women get raped or a million other things that can keep going and going.

  • Oh this makes me so sad, so mad and I am crying for you. I do hope what ever or where ever you are now, peace be with you.

I suffer also and want to end my life peacefully, but it's hard.

I suffer ECT treatments 3 times a week and the meds make me a idiot.

    No one understands.

  • Personal oppinion about the humans right breach made by parlamentarians from Australia! NORMALLY the governments would not care if old people would die, anyway lots of governments have problems with old useless people BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A NEW GENERATION CAN ENVISION LIVING A FRUITFULL 50 YEARS AND HAVE AN OPTION TO END IT PAINLESS? THEN THE SAME GENERATION WOULD WISH TO HAVE A TAX PLAN TO ALLOW NOT INVESTING IN THE PENSION PLAN AND THERE YOU HAVE THE PROBLEM..GOVERNMENTS NEED THOSE BIG MONEY!!

  • @raschmid86 fuck thats evil, and never would have thought of it that way.

it's true pension won't exist when am 50 and there trying to confince me it's o.k?

wtf... no one in the west value's life? kinda like east kill people for cheating on thier wife's? they don't value life as much i guess.. na.. they don't feel like i don't becuase they don't have human feelings or thier jusrt sub par and weak.

  • @mrsuperterd So supertard, a person wants to die needs help because their terminal illness is torturing them to death and their suffering is unbearable and you think they should continue to suffer?

    You're the evil one here.

  • @MrChowWee nope. so your the one thats going to kill this girl to end her suffering?

and you would kill your mom or your brother if they ask you too? you would kill this angel? haha and you call me evil? yea you would kill another human being for what? so she diden't have to suffer? haha your fucking dumb as fuck o yea that mental retared person is suffering they can eat right they cant wape thier own ass there body are sick and weak and you would kill a handi cap to stop thier suffering?

  • @mrsuperterd Yes, I would but you enjoy watching people suffer

It's called voluntary euthanasia where people (like this woman) can request a qucik end as an alternative to being tortured to death by their illness.

Again another idiot who associates VE with state sponsered murder and productive euthanasia as a lame way to fight a debate. You're an idiot who dosn't even know how to use 'Your' properly.

There's nowhere euthanasia is legalised that kills disabled and mentally retarded people.

  • @MrChowWee yea and am evil your the one that would help this angel kill her self.

you think I enjoy wacthing people suffer? who, what, when, were, and why would you think such a thing? o thats right cuase I don't agree with euthanasia I like people suffer. your an idiot for thinking this girl suffer's more than handi cap people. you would help kill her but not the handi cap? yea your idea of euthanasia is what for people with illness only? hows about all things that suffer you selfish retard.

  • @mrsuperterd You're fuckign idiot, I'm talking about voluntary euthansia you stupid cunt, were a person like Angelique can choose it over a painful and slow death caused by her illness.

My idea of euthanasia is voluntary where people can choose it over a suffering painful death. You're talking state euthanasia where the state decides which people are worth living and sueful to society, i'm talking about VOLUNTARY WHICH REQUIRES CONSENT you need to get educated on it you moron.

  • @MrChowWee haha you want to treat people like animals fine. call it want you want but one way to die is no better than the next.

  • @mrsuperterd Dying from a torturing illness is no better than dying at your own request in a painless way? I treat people like human beings, you treat them like puppets for the state to dictate thinking what is best for them and shutting down their voice.

This woman in the video angelique wanted to die on her own terms, a painless and cormfortable death and people like you rob her of that right because you want to control people as if they are puppets.

  • @MrChowWee thier's no such thing as a painless and cormfortable death. thats like saying a bullet to the head is better than a bullet to the heart. key word DEATH. also don't know what this state shit is your talking about as I live in canada. I don't shut down thier voice at all; I listen and from that I gather these people want an easier way to die. life's tuff and so is death. and for that I don't agree with them. your privleged to be alive it's not a right you idiot.

  • @mrsuperterd Wow, you really are a fucking idiot, a quick poison is not better than dying from organ failure and cancer? State shit? State means the country's leadership you fucking tool, you must be about 12 years old to not know the basics of political terms. Being alive isn't a right? your own country declares a right to LIFE which is why your nation got rid of the death penalty. So it is not a privilege being ALIVE is a right in most western countries.

  • @MrChowWee "So it is not a privilege being ALIVE is a right in most western countries" yea and it is wrong to think your life is worth more than others if it where A right I would have the right to be here over some one else and it would be legal for me to steal food and to steal shelter from other becuase that would be my right not to starve and my right not to be cold my right to rob what I need for surivial. which is not the case in the west idiot. duhh...

  • @mrsuperterd You make no sense what so ever.

You're a fucking toolbag, nearly every western constition and document of political importance empathises on the right to life and to live.

You need to stop beign such a fucking idiot, get educated on your own country's politics has Canada as a "right to life"

  • beautifully spoken.

  • try DCA utube it.......you dont have nothing more to loose. Its not a new drug.I dont wanna say more about it because I dont wanna be seen as like I wanna promote it or something.

  • if we make this legal they will give it to ya in spades. who will stop them then?

  • I support euthenasia and truely beleive that it should be decriminilised in Australia, being an orderly in a hospital, I see people suffering everyday and can see it in their eyes!!

  • when wil stupid politician understand. hapiness & bliss to you, in your new life angelique.

  • It is your problem if you want to die, so why not let people do what they want to, it is unfair to stop people to do so.

  • It is ONLY and ONLY when you view such cases with your OWN eyes that it makes perfect sense to advocate voluntary euthanasia! Only people who have felt the pain and terror of such a life understand the value of a good life, and the value of a peaceful painless death.

  • @NeroIstaffer I totally am with you on that... to bad not everybody can afford to travel to Switzerland to get helped by Exit or Dignitas

  • @NeroIstaffer the problem is that if the practice is legalized some people will take advantage of it and many mnay people that can be saved and possibly against their wlll end up dead

  • I think that people like:

    * Angelique Flowers

    * Christina Fiddimore

    * Jessica Horton

who courageously put up an idea whilst facing death that will benefit the life other people in this world, then they are to be greatly honoured. Changes can be achieved as Christina Fiddimore found. If enough in their position struggle through the pain and suffering, and try as these women did to honestly plea for change, some changes will follow.. The web is a great communicator of such messages.

  • Angelique, please rest in peace. You deserved the right to die as you lived: with dignity and honor. You fought bravely, and all you asked was to be permitted to leave with the dignity commensurate with your bravery. I hope, too, that my own country will legalize euthanasia for

I am so sorry for what you went through in your final days. This video is one everyone who contemplates this delicate issue must see. You deserved better - to leave in peace and free of pain. Thank you.

  • This is one of the saddest videos I've ever seen. I can't believe they let her die painfully like that. This video has convinced me to support voluntary euthanasia.

  • She DID obtain the Euthanasia drug she was asking for but she didn't use it in the end. Sometimes it's just the thought of having that option available that's 'comforting'!

  • @Avicenna9

It was not comforting at all! Because of the pussyfooting of our politicians and the lack of a Voluntary Euthanasia law, instead of dying peacefully by her choice with her friends and family around her, she died suddenly, exactly the way she was afraid of, vomiting up her own fecal matter.

What a disgrace to civilised society.

  • Even though i regard killing as a sin (including committing suicide) if somebody really wants to kill himself - no one and certainly not any law could stop him. It's like the infamous sign in subways: "Caution! Touching wires causes instant death. 200 Dollars fine".

Oh now that 200 Dollars fine i have to pay after i "instantly died" REALLY prevented me from touching the wires (-:

  • Supernmanu-

I am just curious why is ending your life a sin? Do you know this for a fact or is that just what you as a sheep have been told? Have you ever even been close to the situation that angelique was in? I'm not wanting to affend I am just curious about your veiws especially the "sin" thing.

  • I only said that i regard it as a sin... but other people can say, think and do whatever they want so that's why i am reluctant to talk about it, cause if i do talk about it, it sounds like me trying to force my view onto others which i really don't intend to do... But if someone believes that his live was arranged by higher beings and that suffering is repaying for sins committed in the past then it should be obvious why he would regard suicide as a sin... But others can do what they want.

  • I think its just a selfish decision for those supporing laws against assisted suicide; their belief that all life is sacred just can't be weighed against personal excruciating pain.

  • What an amazing person.

This made me cry so much. I don't understand why euthanasia is illegal. I suspect that most people would want a peaceful death if they are honest with themselves. Even if that means using a pill.

Angelique is so brave, brave because she admits she is scared or a painful death.

  • Angelique, I hope with all my heart that you will find a peaceful end to your terrible ordeal. How I wish it was in my power to help you

  • she's been dead for almost a year, i hope as well that she has already found her peace

fuck i wish i had known of this drug when it was still relatively easy to obtain

  • If someone kept a dog alive through all that suffering and pain, they'd be charged with animal cruelty, and rightfully so!

  • I believe if a person wants to die, they should be able to. Being sick like that is NOT living. Unfortunately, often when a person most needs to be released, they are too weak to do it alone, so they are at the mercy of those who want to force them to keep breathing. VERY SAD.She is RIGHT when she says they wouldn't deny a sick dog euthanasia.ALL humans should be allowed to choose a dignified death, if they so desire!

  • Amazing. Angelique makes such an important point here...not all "cancer" pain is the same. The pain associated with a bowel obstruction is excruciating...and not always adequately managed with pain meds. The most merciful option is a respiratory suppressive dose of morphine...that is if doctors are still allowed to write orders without the Gov't watching.

  • So true! American medical system is too fractured to actually help people. The entire concept of treating people wholistically is beyond the capitalistic structure for our healthcare. My boyfriend has complications from a rare form of thyroid cancer and he'll be 35 this year. Wish us luck, because it's not going to be the doctors who save him...

  • Australian medical system.. Australia..

  • You are my Heroine Angelique, after being diagnosed at 4 with ulcerative colitis and total colectomy at age 12 I am now 26 with ongoing problems, RIP

  • You will have to excuse me if I lack faith in the Government and healthcare in the USA these days, My mother died needlessly almost a year ago due to neglect and lazyness on the part of Doctors and a Hospital she trusted! It is a long story but the lack of treatment is what killed her. We finally went to another hospital that found out in short order what her problems were, but it was too damn late!

  • Very sad, yet, the laws that are there stopping this girl from ending her own life are there for a reason. To open up this situation, can be like opening a Pandora's Box. We allow euthanasia rights to the public today and what happens next? It could easily be twisted into the Government deciding who is given treatment for their illness and who they decide should just be put down, whether they want to be put down or not.

My Heart went out to this girl and I wish her peace now.

  • "It could easily be twisted into the Government deciding who is given treatment for their illness and who they decide should just be put down, whether they want to be put down or no"

What an absurd excuse for being callous towards the situation of people like Angelique. If you have so little confidence in the ability to put in place sensible transparent laws which can ethically evaluate individual situations - you should already be panicking about our whole legal and incarceration system.

  • For hitmann: Wrong. The government would not decide to "put people down". What a conspiracy statement. A new positive law in regards to euthanasia would only mean that terminally ill people would be able to make this decision themselves.

  • Laws get changed and altered all the time, without public consent these days in the USA. Did the Bush Government listen to the people in the last 8 years? Not once! And the Obama Government wont be any better. I would be all for it if the decision stayed with the patient that is suffering. But I am looking at it from the viewpoint of the issues with Health care in the USA right now, which truly sucks! We rank #37 in the world! I am not against the idea of letting the terminally ill decide.

  • For hitmann: I am sorry to hear that your mother was neglected and died because of it. We voted for Hillary Clinton, because she wanted to establish universal health care and my husband could be insured by now. But the corporate machine, as Hillary calls them, have taken over the elections and got her out even though she had the majority of the votes. They did it again, they did it before and they will try to do it in the future. I also do not believe in the medical industry at all.

  • Only 5,000 views?? This needs to be seen by millions and by those who have power to change these barbaric laws.I have breast cancer that is now spreading into bones and beyond.I am beginning to accept that I will surely die from this, but I am cannot accept that such pain which can't be relieved will be an unavoidable part of the leaving. When my time comes, I want to be the one who gets to decide how this will end for me! Who wouldn't want the same for themself, or for anyone you care about?

  • This is an unacceptable tragedy that this young woman was forced to spend their last days in such fear and such pain. Seeing this, I know I cannot wait till such a late stage in my illness to find the relief that will stop this from happening to me!

  • For angelrain: Absolutely true what you said.

  • A judge of a societys humanity is how it treats its terminally ill and those who deserve a peaceful exit. The worst thing in the world is being in absolute agony and being denied a relatively noble and painless exit.

  • Religion and that mindless submissiveness to the will of a tyrannic and unseen god is the real cancer for everyone! How can anyone still have any argument against voluntary death? One day their voices will have to be silenced! Videos like this should be shown on prime time tv to jolt the minds of all those "righteous minded" ignorant conservatives!

  • Does anyone know whether Kevin Rudd has made a formal reply or response to Angelique's letter which was addressed to him? This seems a rather important point since he is referred to implicitly. Surely she wished her letter to receive a response of some type.

    Any thoughts?

  • are fuk u

and fuk the reason why phychopaths run the world and tell fbi and the police to chase poor crims. Like puppets on a string. Getsmart dude. coz ya gonna die like everyone who breathes. 1 day it will be ya turn. death is eternal. life is one big anxiety. An amusment of time and space. A error of truth.

a biological clock of aging. DEATH!!!!CANCER!!! 50years to live comared to billion years of death

  • FBIbusnessman?

    that's laughable

    KILL yourself.

  • I am by law not allowed to say that cancer treatment like chemo therapy and surgery and biopsies cause more horror and hell. Because the medical industry makes a lot of money on people's illnesses. But I am allowed to say that I personally will never ever have medical treatment done on my body if I got sick. I have the right to live in dignity and without suffering. I have the right to die in dignity and without suffering as well.

  • "I am by law not allowed to say that cancer treatment like chemo therapy and surgery and biopsies cause more horror and hell."

You are free to tell lies like that on a personal level - if it's obvious it's just your own stupid opinion. You're not free to make ridiculous statements like that in a medical advice context though - and rightly so. If you have a better *evidence based* treatment - do tell.

  • "But I am allowed to say that I personally will never ever have medical treatment done on my body if I got sick."

I agree that if you have a terminal illness, it should be up to you to weigh up the side-effects of treatment and decide for yourself that you'd like to avoid that.

I think it would be stupid but I guess you should be allowed to avoid medical treatment for some non-terminal illnesses if you really want. You should not be allowed to with-hold it from a child in your care though.

  • I don't understand why they just don't put them in medically induced comas? That way they'll die without being conscience of the pain or anything related. They do this for severe burn victims while they're recovery so I don't see why they don't do it for people who are dieing and in pain? Doesn't make any sense

  • Spread the message of this young lady. Lets get it seen.

  • This could happen to any one of us. Nobody should have to suffer the way this young woman did. We all deserve the right to die with dignity without leaving our loved ones open to prosecution by the law. It should be a personal choice and the means to a peaceful and painless end to a life of suffering should be made available to those who choose that option.

  • We should all share the right to die with dignity & not burden others if we so choose. If Religion is playing a part in the hesitant minds of our politicians then they ought to take a history lesson & see what fate befell poor old galileo. Religion can be & IS frequently wrong. Lets outlaw contraception then Mr Rudd.

  • I am unrestrained & able to destroy myself painfully & slowly with drugs & alcohol & then seek help after doing so. Stupidity is catered for, Mercy is not. Asking to have the same compassionate rights of an animal is denied to us & considered criminal. If the unfortunate time ever arose that saw myself in this same ghastly predicament ( my heart goes out to you Angelique ) I'll be placing a gun to my head & then some poor sod come & clean up the mess.

  • "I am unrestrained & able to destroy myself painfully & slowly with drugs & alcohol & then seek help after doing so. Stupidity is catered for, Mercy is not."

Yeah nicley put PipingLane. It's ridiculous that a supposedly compassionate society allows a young Woman to needlessly waste away in horrendous pain.

Nitschke has been campaigning for years on this..and 80% of the people are for highly regulated legal euthanasia. Isn't it about time our government listens to it's Employers??

  • I have the right & am within the law to purchase & consume as much alcohol as I desire & smoke all the cigarettes I want & the law isn't rattled by any personal religious virtues it may subjectively hold to change that freedom. Far from it, it contradictorily allows advertisements to air about the affects it will have on your health & at the same time ravenously rubbing its tainted hypocritical hands together with the revenue both alcohol & tobacco raise with this righteous law of integrity.

  • Its horrible to know that people constantly allow others to suffer in ways such as this.

I responded with a video/song i composed that i thought seemed to fitting. The songs called Tranquillity, if any wishes to watch it.

  • A deeply moving and emotional video from someone in terrible pain and suffering, and yet she maintain a character and dignity that should be an inspiration to us all.

No one should have to suffer as she did at the end. How can *anyone* argue that she should have been denied the right to end her life as she saw fit after watching this?

Anti-Euthanasia protesters should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

  • The politicians and religious people who believe that others may not suffer because of a delusion about their beliefs, one only hopes that when they are near the ending of their lives and are experiencing excruciating pain and loss of dignity they may then understand why 80% of Australians want voluntary euthanasia legalised.

  • I'm an absolute mess after watching this. It brings back memories of my Dad and Sister... Mr Rudd, please do something about this now. It's not something that can wait any longer. It's inhumane to not do anything. Legalise Euthanasia now!

  • My deepest gratitude to you Angelique: for your courage, compassion and grace, to share your story with us, we who were strangers to you; so that we might not suffer as you have.

Mr Rudd, this young woman has addressed her letter to you.

I do hope your response is one of empathy and grace equal to that demonstrated by Angelique.

  • Legalize "LEGAL" euthanasia,and fast...

  • It's cruel and inhumane to force patients to suffer against their will.

  • Dear Angelique, I hope you have found your peace. Like Dr. Baz, I never knew you until now. But I wish I had. You've shown the world who you were. You were brave Angelique, you were a real hero. And so beautiful. What a loss to the world.

    Love to you.

  • This is so sad, only 31. =(

    Vomiting fecal matter? Bursting bowel?

    Euthanasia needs to be legal.

We love our pets, when their life is nearing it's end, we put them down because it's the most humane option.

Why can't we do it for our loved ones?

  • why waste time on research etc?just a phone call to one of a plethora of 'right people'(not hard to find, street is full of them) and have a widely available 'recreational' drug,(notice the term 'illegal' is not even used anymore) which, uncut, is 3 times the strength of morphine, (hell they government even give out free syringes to help) make sure no one can find you, take more than what 'recreational' users take, enjoy the high and go to sleep; for ever.I am sure some people do this already.

  • hooweelewis, you're right, of course, but remember that although some people may desperately want to die, they may not find it easy - or even possible - to take the final step themselves. Angelique got her Nembutal, but died before she could use it. Maybe it was too hard for her.

  • Poor thing she suffered a lot and it was a beautiful letter with truthfulness and desperation, Euthenasia is a touchy subject.

  • I have been put under general anaesthesia many times, and I have always woke from it without any memory nor pain from the procedure. It is completely possible to have a quiet peaceful death, and in fact, the addition of some other substances could allow it to be even "fun"...certain narcotics produce feelings of euphoria, bliss, contentment, happiness, satisfaction, love, warmth, & a spiritual feeling of oneness with the whole universe. Why not die loving life?

  • I am an experienced veteran of pain & suffering. There are levels of pain that make it impossible to even think;at that point the only gut urge is to die. There's no dignity or meaning to it. It is so easy to die with modern anaesthesia, it is completely relaxing. I have a feeling that in the future, humanity will evolve to accept this practice legally. To experience prologned suffering at your last moments does not do your life justice. Feeling happy, loved & at peace is much more meaningful.

  • Iceprincess Nembutal, THE BEST DRUG was available to compassionate doctors in the past....NOT AT COLES OR WOOLLIES!!!

Angelique would have died IN NO PAIN! Get it!

  • I will miss you Angelique, though I never knew you.I think your contribution to medicine is as good as any doctor or health professional.

Your family and loved ones can be so proud of you.

No doctor with compassion should be interfered with by lawyers/courts/Goverments in preventing terminal suffering..it was common practice in the 70s and 80s.

Mr Rudd would you let your daughter suffer as Angelique HAD TO!

Shame if you allow it to continue.

    Dr. Baz

  • Kiss Kisses Hug Hugs .

  • Opponents to euthanasia should hang their heads in shame, they miss the point, it's our life, it was Angelique's too. She should have had the right to receive Nembutal via legalised euthanasia. If someone chooses to believe that god wants them to suffer, or that only god can take life away, then let them die in whatever way nature chooses. But for the rest of us, butt out. Over 70% of people want euthanasia legalised, yet still it is not because of the vocal religious minority. It stinks.

  • @ankemeny yea as a hunter i see euthanasia( sick coyote's with mange, skin falling off rotting broken teeth they can't cacth prey or eat scavegnged food) it's sad and it's my place to help mother nature out by killing them. but to kill a human being? yea don't ask ME becuase i don't murder. you going to be the one to kill her? if not who? you kill a family member if thier suffering? you would feel fine killing this angel? you hunt? why do i have to kill beautiful animals? know why kill persons?

  • @ankemeny ironically religious are being more sinnfull by judging people and forcing them to be like them . You know what . I forgive them for that sin. They know NOT what they do. When a person is greater in giving than a so called god , its time to rethink that religion . free choice for all

  • Yes i agree totaly with her. And yes "Fuck the right to lifers" Stupid ignorant morons havnt a clue. If you see these people on the street say thankyou to them for causes of tears and torment. If its religion. Religion of ignorance. Pisses me off. Stupid Rudd and the other dick say what is nice so that it saves them politically. R fuk it.

  • What can one say?

How can one possibly believe in a god that allows such a fine, beautiful, innocent person to experience such cruel suffering?I can't.Nevertheless,I am conflicted on the issues of both abortion and euthenasia,Leaving out the extremest nutters, I am genuinely unable to make up my mind on both matters.Help!!
