I drive a modern Micra and although the lower gears are horrible it's very economical and reliable -- just not smooth. 5 gears, certainly not 3.

@VOLVORULEZ1995 I never got to drive it! . . .But I will tell you this - It would start first time every time in -7*C and it towed my Jaguar XJ up a slight hill. However, it only has three gears so you can't go much above 40mph without it sounding like a jetwash sat on the passenger seat! - and it had no power above 3krpm
