@johnnyohness I find there is little enough in this recipe to give it more moisture and a good texture. However, there have been debates over whether to add anything to beef for burgers long before I was born and they will continue long after my passing. I think it is a matter of taste. I experiment with straight beef, beef with seasonings only and beef with fill (bread crumbs etc). I like them all!
@treasurer6 Thank you for your reply. Your onion slew is great. Add a little balsamic vinegar some time to the onions it's a nice change. I noticed you don't prefer to melt the cheese? Humm. Had to laugh when you cracked that beer. Seems like me.....
you have traded in your 6-pck for a keg. LOL I love beer too. Great vid. Sounds like you use to work or own a steak house burger place. Is that so?

@treasurer6 In a prior life in my twenties I was a cook and did do a turn in a hotel's steak house. However, that was long enough ago to be misted by the fogs of time! I like the suggestion of the balsamic vinegar. Mostly because I love the taste of balsamic vinegar. As for melting the cheese, it is a personal preference thing again. I think the cheese has more flavor it is only warmed by the burger. My friend thinks I am barbarian for not melting it on the burger!
Sure. Just make a plain bread crust, brush it with olive oil, put some thin sliced onion and a little proscuitto ham on it. Put some grated podmorno and parmesan on it. Cook it in a 500 oven until the crust is cooked. MMMM.
Once again I have made these delicious burgers. And once again they have been amazing. They were even better the second time!! I used cheddar this time instead of monterey jack cheese and I also added about 1/4 cup of steak sauce into the patty mixture itself and it was DELICIOUS. Thanks once again for this recipe and I will enjoy it many more times to come. :)
I just got incredibly busy with work and have been travelling all over the place. The Canada Day holiday was my first break. Bill isn't big on Clam Chowder, so I answered a request for Steakhouse Burgers.
That looks delicious. I am going to go out today and buy some high quality buns and instead of swiss cheese I am going to try it with monterey jack cheese to give it a little bit of a kick.
Well I made them last night and OH MAN! They were fantastic. Monterey jack cheese gave it a little bit of a kick and I just didnt make enough of them. This is one of my favourite recipes that you have. Thanks once again for the amazing recipe I will have to make them again.
David & Bill, a little note on the side I thought you guys would find amusing. The comment was made before revealing how I got the recipe. "I wish I knew how to make burgers like that." I just smiled and said, "You can make it." My wife started laughing. It was our little inside humor. I was asked where your show could be seen. I told them on youtube.
David is the man! Had inlaws over and they wanted to know what I was making for dinner. Followed recipe to a tee. Huge hit! Wife won't eat another restaraunt. I have to make her burgers from now on. Dad inlaw is going to make them when he gets back home. Everyone wanted seconds. Couldn't take credit. Showed your video and others. They really liked them and we had a good time. I'll always be comparing cooking shows on tele to yours from now on. Very good production Bill! Love Beach Guy. lol ThnkU
I have been bothered by your comment you "couldn't take credit". You took the time to something more than fire beef on the barbie and put a cheese slice on it. Next time, take credit!
Pleasant video to watch. Already during the first few seconds I knew you were good.
I am not a fan of adding bread or crumbs, like to keep it 100% beef. Do not compress the patty much, keeping it fluffy cooks quicker and more evenly.

You add bread to your burger meat. Doesn't that kind of give it a meat loaf texture and taste?
