Thanks for the original words and literal translation. The first verse, first instrumental arrangement and the third sung verse are original to Isaac. I'm not sure who composed the 2nd sung verse or second instrumental arrangement.
If you decide to edit the video portion, there should be plenty of public domain images of the original setting. The one pictured in the video is not the same. Choralwiki should have several PDF's of it.
It's the "Hofkapelle" and the conductor is Michael Procter I think. The CD is called "Motetten für Kaiser Maximilian I" (Motets for Emperor Maximiian I). Check it out if you want to.
To be honest, I never heard about that, but if he did say that it must have been for reason, because this is one of the most popular renaissance songs.

The song is stunning on its own, but the King's Singers always find something to add.
Can anybody tell how the second verse is arranged? It's sort of a canon of the main melody, but not, I think, a straightforward one.

indeed one of the best pieces of music ever written!
This recording was performed by The King's Singers, right? But which instrumental ensemble plays with them? I love this sound of cornets!

very lovely...is it true Bach said he would give up all his writings only to have composed this melody himself?
