at that range, the instantaneous radiation pulse would've killed you stone dead before the thermal wave fried you ... that is, if you weren't completely vaporised
@warmonger12z this is just sarahs dream and not reality though. so it doesn't neccessary have to be the correct way in her dream since she might not know the full details of a nuclear blast.
Not always. There were "survivors" in the thermal blast radius at Hiroshima/Nagasaki. I recall a picture, a man with no eyes, nose, hair, or lips. His mouth was somewhat crooked. He had stubs for hands, nearly all fingers being either amputated or fused together. First time I saw him, I thought he was some kind of movie prop.
So no, you don't die instantly. The dream is fairly accurate.
With temperatures of up to 1.5 million degrees farenheit at the epicenter of the blast, I'm sure that anyone in the immediate vicinity of the blast radius would not have survived; according to the records, around 97% of those within 0-500 feet of the blast (Starting from the ground spreading outward, bomb detonated mid-air) were killed. Possibly instantly. Those that weren't killed were inside secure households. Then again, they were still hurt.
Sarah is like the Queen Mother of all survivalists in this movie. I mean, who has that much hardware cached away for the end of the world? Puts my collection to shame.
Now I want a hidden underground room full of military ordnance too. ^_^
@ghostboy84 It's expensive but not impossible to have an underground shelter for your family and gear. I'm turning my g/f into Sarah Connor! Bought her a 9mm and put an M4 in her hands and presto! Gotta LOVE a hot babe in full tac gear and armed to the teeth! :)
sara was bad . terminator it the best. our troops in iraq and afgan use the mini gun.and the flying drones that wack the taliban. r machines. but not from sky net
@packets1 Yeah, and in all the other Terminator movies to follow, all the nuke graphics look cheesy and fake like cartoons or something. I wonder why they wouldn't have paid more attention to the end war in T3. The missile launch looked really good and realistic. But the bombs in the begining and the end looked like a crappy cartoon or something.
@packets1 it definitely set the tone for the entire movie. I also respect the fact that Sarah buffed the hell out. I know of a mom whom had a punctured lung yet drove miles to a hospital after fending off a guy with a knife, all to protect her children. far to many Hollywood movies take the bullshit woman screaming while the man protects them route. this movie was far more realistic about it.
3:37 is such a vital aspect in the series' storyline, in that it's philosophical. It's ironic that out of all the possible fathers for children, a machine, a Terminator no less, would pretty much be the perfect choice for a parent. Because machines' programming, especially Terminators', are so perfect that it would uphold paternal values that no would-be father could ever hope to match up to.
Not really. It isn't because of their "perfect" programming, it's because a machine, something that it is programmed to kill, that doesn't have any feelings at all, is the best choice for a father. This scene is important in the movie, because it is like an attack, or a critique, to human behavior, since we have become a violent species that have learned to destroy ourselves, as Sarah mentioned "In an insane world, it was the sanest choice."
Yes, but what they did was take an extremely advanced neural net processor and switch it so that the machine, originally designed to kill humans, would serve the Resistance. And the chip can even be set so the AI can learn, and because of the technology used to conceive the processor, its ability to learn is incredible.....so, imagine the possibilities of such an advanced AI learning like that.
But this scene is later on in the movie after they have reset his cpu and turned back on his learning devices (scene in Directors Cut) so he learns how to smile and such
Probably won't happen. They would probably be prepared and those who are not prepared will get cooked. Those who assumed radicals in the middle east will give up their arms and like the US just because we are "nicer" will be nailed first. I don't see Coulter or Malkin as people who would be unprepared for such an attack. Even if I disagree with them at times.
Always CLOSE my eyes during that part. It IS the message of the movie, but MY GOSH it is scary. US Nuclear testing labs unofficially declared T2 "one of the most accurate depitctions of a nuclear blast ever created." --take from the T2 box set
it was mostly done with miniatures for the cars being thrown around and stuff. but i dont find it that realistic because the heat would be that intense in the first second most things would be dust even at the distance sarah was at
so an actual hydrogen bomb is actually worse? Wow, thats insane, i saw pictures of the Tsar bomb the russians made and i heard the mushroom cloud was some 40 miles wide
yes it would be far worse depending on the megaton yield. tsar bomba was 57 MT and that is more powerful than all explosives used in ww2 put together including fat man and little boy, usa's nukes. and just think they were going to make it 100 MT but they didnt know if it would permanently damage the earth so they optted to halve it. anthing within 100 km (62 miles) of the explosion would get 3rd degree burns. it was 40 miles high and 25 wide and the fireball alone was 5 miles in diameter
