for some odd reason i started to play like this and it was nice and sounded nice and made me feel great but for some reason i lost it.... please come back :(
I'm a 39yr old guitar player and have played every style in a million bands. I've always come back to playing acoustic in my living room and writing on my couch. This cat is playing music from his soul so flawlessly. What a talent he is. I listen to his music with my heart not my ears
Going to meet him January 22 2012, can't sleep, can't wait!!!!! I'll play him this or Papa George, maybe To B or Not to B, or Endless Road.... All his songs are so amazing, I can't choose!
It takes a warm soul & the grace of god to play as beautiful as this.
I've played guitar for well over 30 years now and I hang onto every note he plays in this song but I can't come close to the flawless guitar playing of Tommy Emmanuel.
@rulez7000 Well, I have seen a video or two of Tommy making a rare miss while playing. However, in one of them he was warming up in the green room before a show. When he was done with the song, he stated jovially, I meant to do that. :)
@thesmuuuuggh Maton guitar. All hand made in Box hill South, Melbourne Australia. One person builds the entire guitar from frets to knecks to strap. Staff of about 10 all great people.
@steezeebaby definitely is...if you like that stuff check out chet atkins and for a more modern thing check michael hedges..if you don't already know about both of them, that is lol.
Here I am, posting a few laters after I had first heard this song. Went to see him twice in concert, and I will stick to my original comment. This is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. When he played this live....the place melted, people cried, people hugged, people smiled, people felt....they really felt the beauty.
goosebumps... this is definitely of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created.. such softness in the melody, and yet powerful enough to create such a strong emotional connection to it..

Have you never heard about a man called Adrian Legg? Marcel Dadi? Duck Baker? John Renbourne? I'm living this strange kind of success of Tommy Emmanuel as well as Slash in Rock guitar (as to say: a NONSENSE)
thats like saying eric johnson isn't as good andy mckee/ i saw andy live and he was amazing but emmanuel is a way more complete player with more to offer. give a pick and tell andy to solo its not so exciting. tommy does everything. top 5 alive today
LoL, one of the biggest pacos dreams is can play bossa-nova, but u now what ? HE CANT, he admit it, and his fingers and tenson dont let him play a little bossa nova, lol u god hates u .
@tomaspepino you're a STUPID! Paco hadn't never judge other guitarists...he's really a great in every sense and anyway i think Emmanuel should go to Paco to learn so much!
I saw him live last year, and he said he wrote this piece when he chose to break away from his previous record company and finance his own solo project. He said it was a huge risk, but he was patient and it worked out. Thus the meaning of the song(: Wonderful person and a godlike player!
This song has great meaning to me. It used to be the song of me and my girlfriend who lives in another country. Now we're not together anymore. The song always makes me cry.

@trapiatapioca Tommy Emmanuel WAS the future of music... And then music decided to make him only known to the people who want to find real genius. Too bad. Cuz I only found him because I read something about Clapton saying he was the best.
We have whimps like Justin Bieber who take 300.000$ every concert, and then gods like Tommy Emmanuel who won't see the success they deserve in their entire life -.-"
really? to be chewed and spat out by the big company's like lady gaga? if you knew anything about the music industry, that's the last thing you would say. you couldn't convince Tommy to go commercial even if you tried to force him. there's nothing for him there that he doesn't allready have. besides, i'd hardly consider him in the shadow,unless you're 15 years old and only watch MTV. youtube with its 1 billion users is a starter...don't think i need to go further.
@pootubeftw well, you certainly got a point. I would never look at Tommy as the great guitar player he is if I would have seen a cd with him in my local grocery store. But on the other hand he will never be really well known if he wo'nt sell anything. (yeah, it's wierd.)
indeed, its a sort of tradeoff you could say. but one i think both we and tommy and more than happy with :)
i'd let him stay at my place and play for me all day long if he ever finds himself out of gigs or being bankrupt. he'd have to live way up north though :p

@bejerama It's not fair .-.
We have whimps like Justin Bieber who take 300.000$ every concert, and then gods like Tommy Emmanuel who won't see the success they deserve in their entire life -.-"

@kasketix He IS a real genius, why does he stay in the shadow ? His music should be better promoted.

really? to be chewed and spat out by the big company's like lady gaga? if you knew anything about the music industry, that's the last thing you would say. you couldn't convince Tommy to go commercial even if you tried to force him. there's nothing for him there that he doesn't allready have. besides, i'd hardly consider him in the shadow,unless you're 15 years old and only watch MTV. youtube with its 1 billion users is a starter...don't think i need to go further.

@pootubeftw well, you certainly got a point. I would never look at Tommy as the great guitar player he is if I would have seen a cd with him in my local grocery store. But on the other hand he will never be really well known if he wo'nt sell anything. (yeah, it's wierd.)

@petterud
indeed, its a sort of tradeoff you could say. but one i think both we and tommy and more than happy with :)
i'd let him stay at my place and play for me all day long if he ever finds himself out of gigs or being bankrupt. he'd have to live way up north though :p
his future is safe.
