It has everything to do with Mormonism! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a church that is centered around the family. The family is central to God's plan for us. Spending time with your family is key to doing what God's will is for us.

I've always respected mormons. Every mormon I've known has been nothing less than honest, respectful, and good-natured, not to mention extremely successful. I've been to Utah and it's only weird if you're used to being able to buy drugs and alcohol easily. Other than that, people just live--no one forced their religion on me, no one scorned my lifestyle, no one said anything hateful or intolerant. A lot of people in this world piss me off but mormons... they're just lovely.

I love these ads. I have 9 kids and have spent a lot of time playing with them. I think fathers are often too busy to take the time to play with their kids. These ads really make you think about spending quality time with your kids. I wish my husband would have played more with our kids.

This is the third such video I've watched, and in all 3 cases the child and dad are playing and the mom interrupts their fun. That seems like an odd subliminal message.

p.s. The mom in this video was in an old Church vid like 20 years ago where she had to delay her temple wedding. I'm glad that apparently everything has turned out well.

That's true. There should be some with the mom involved in the fun, although it is good emphasize that the father spend a lot of time with the family too. I think really it's only that way in the ads because it is convenient to bring them back to reality so that we can recognize that this was family time playing pretend. I don't think there was any anti-mom subliminal messaging intended.

That's because there isn't a subliminal message involved. The mom simply didn't want her daughter to be awakened. She didn't interrupt the fun at all. It is as it is. Newborn babies need sleep. Ask any parent what it was like having a newborn baby. There isn't a need to read that far into it.

timdwilliamson: I can't say if these particular ads were produced in-house or not, but the LDS Church does own and its Audio/Visual department does maintain the LDS Motion Picture Studios and related production facilities in Provo, Utah, so, it is very possible that they were indeed produced in-house. I would not be surprised if this were the case.
