The issue is that while the Spy is French, his voice is dramatically overdone. He's not French just because he's French, he's French because it's FUNNY to players. It's not JUST a French accent but it's very much the STEREOTYPICAL French accent that ANY person from America or England, for example, would use when trying to impersonate the French.

This is a real French accent. That's actually WHY it doesn't work. There's not enough of the stereotypical, near-mocking French accent you would expect.

Although it's really lovable, cute, makes me warm and fuzzy... hehehe all of that, you gotta remember that the original spy does not let his accent give him away, wich would obviously be fatal. He only says one word in french (merde) and one in portuguese or spanish (amigo), but you can't tell he is french by every single word he says. So if there was a female spy I think it would be wiser to hide her origin too, even if that means a waste of sex appeal....
