  • well, the binding, the headstockshapes are different, the finish and tuners also.

  • i've watched a video on Gibsons web site I believe. Anyways, it kept going on about vintage tone and an old school sound and feel. Anyways, beautiful guitar, great playing, awesome video.

  • do you think there is any real difference with these geetars and standards of today really?? part from small things...cheers.

  • Both great guitars, it doesn't have to be the Custom Shop.

Thanx 4 your interest, keep rockin'!

  • thanks for the reply..

    yep rockin on my standard!!

    cheers..

  • You're welcome,dude!

  • these guitars dont have any hollow points in them like the newer standards to reduce weight, and the customs have a longer neck tenons than todays standards, giving them more sustain

  • yep but what about the tone?? cheers..

  • There really is, Go to a store plug them both in same settings and you will see. IT might be the strings but I suspect its more than that. I picked the 58 vos over both the 08 standard and 08 Custom. The 08 Custom was my 2nd choice. Sounds a bit hotter. The ease of playing made me pick the 58 that and the sound.

  • yep i did yesterday..i ordered a 58 vos in tabacco:)

    cheers..

  • What would you say are the main differances in sound/playability and feel between these guitars???? Great playing!!!

  • Thanx a lot, I really appreciate!

  • hey man i was woundering? what guitar do you think most likely resembles the the car christine

  • Hey thanx a lot dude, I really appreciate!!

    Keep rockin'!!

  • great Videp..How do you like the guitar..Is the neck too huge? Is a 59 neck smaller? I can't decide which one to go after...thanks

  • Hey thanx a lot dude, I really appreciate!!

The neck feels great to me but some people have problems with it, so better check it out first dude!

The R9 is exact the same axe as the R8 except the larger frets and flametop. Thanx for your interest, I wish you all the best with the axe of your choice! Keep Rockin'!!

  • Holy shit, fuckin amazin'! Really liked the bluegrass thing later, nice contrast, both thumbs up!

  • Hi and thanx so much 4 posting, I really appreciate A LOT!!

    Kindest Regards and keep rockin'!!

  • Farm fiddlin the best!!

  • Right on dude, keep rockin'!

  • Awesome playing! If you don't mind i'll bother you with a quick question...

Every time I solo I always seem to go back to some form of a pentatonic scale, I guess it's because of the first ones that I learned and I just know so many different riffs for it. I know alot of other scale formations, but I just can't shred them as good (well not really good at all) as the pentatonic. Any advice?

Oh yeah, what scale were you using?

  • Hi, thanks a lot I really do appreciate and thanks for your interest!

Yeah it sure is because you grew up with pentatonic, so it feels more familiar to you.

I play regular major/minor scales with 3 notes per string patterns, which give me the same amount of notes per string. Scales: pentatonics with chromatic Stuff inbetween (gives a 3-notes feeling but with a bluesy sound).Regular major/minor scales, some apreggiated stuff. I use a mix of legato, alternate, sweep and chicken pickin'.ROCK ON!

  • Smokin hot! Loved that country breakdown!

  • Hey, thanks so much for taking your time to post, I really do appreciate a lot!!

    ROCK ON!!

  • damn man that was fkin sweet wish i could play that nice pickups and overall just nice guitar i like the effect you got goin the squeal sounded perfect man...but thats it ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you very much for taking your time to post, I really do appreciate a lot!!

    Kindest Regards and keep rockin'!!

  • Guitar playing is great, guitar is, of course, GREAT, but get some analog sound in there. That digital crap sounds too cold. No offense intended at all, just an observation.

  • Hey thanks a lot, I really appreciate!

well that's ok dude thanks for your opinion, always keep rockin'!!

  • What type of preamp model are you using for the main shred part on the GT-8? It's a very good Zakk Wylde sound you got there.

  • Hi thanks a lot dude, I really appreciate!!

I used the Wild Crunch with the Wah pedal.

    Always keep rockin'!!

  • zakk..you're very good..but can you slow down sometimes? all those 1/16th and 1/32th notes give me a headache..

  • haha...thanks dude, always keep rockin'!

  • nice

  • Thanx dude, keep rockin'!!

  • I will buy the gt-8 or the gt-10 :D

  • Nice play :D Do you use boss gt-8 ?!

  • Hi and thank you very much for posting,

    I really do appreciate A LOT !!

    Kindest rockin' Regards !!

  • sweet playing, do i see a pantera shirt?

  • Thanx a lot dude, I really appreciate!

    R.I.P Dimebag!

  • agree, hey man i saw your video on the wylde les paul, i have an esp sv standard, would you reccomend trading it for a gibson zakk wylde, i paid my esp around 2300 dollars (1800 euros) and there is a person next to my city selling his 2007 wylde les paul for 1800 euros (same price i bought my esp for, i want your advice because you look like smeone who knows his guitars, consider i play everything from blues to children of bodom, trivium, pantera, and stuff of my own.

  • Hi again and thanx 4 your interest!

Well the only thing I can tell you guys asking me that is: You have to check it out by yourself, because what works for me might or might NOT work for you, dude. All the best and keep rockin'!!

  • thanks, the only concrn i have is that i will have to give up the floyd rose, the easy access to the 24th fret and the looks, but damn! its a gibson les paul custom shop, barely used, for less than half the price

  • Damn, that board looks so dark, almost like ebony. Do you find the Custom's frets to be somewhat sharper than the 58's? Could you explain the difference in tonal qualities between the rosewood and the ebony? How long did you say you've been playing? Nice touch you've developed there. Build Those Chops!!

  • Hi there and thanx a lot for your interest, dude! Well, to be honest I never really cared about how dark fretboards are and I don't really care about fret or necksize, etc.. either.

I just play and get along pretty well with about anything..

  • If you want a darker fretboard just throw on some fretboard oil and you have it. With the VOS series you really feel the plek treatment, it feels very nice and smooth, great action!!

Well, I started out playin' back in 1985.

Thanx again, kindest Regards and keep rockin!!

  • Gorgeous clean tone.

  • Thanx dude, keep rockin'

  • what setting did u use on the gt-8 i also have one and liked the sound u used at the beginning

  • Wild Crunch for the dirty stuff, I also used the Wah Pedal, keep rockin'

  • it rock's so hard dude how much is that guitar nowa days cause i am plainig on getting one not the costom shop the 1956 vintage gibson les paul

  • Hi and thank you very much, I really appreciate a lot, dude!...well a 56' reissue

(Goldtop with Single Coils) is a custom shop, and priced pretty much the same as my 58' reissue.

ROCK ON and all the best!

  • Awesome. Loved the Farm Fiddling part.. Love that tune :)

  • Hi and thank you very much dude, I really do appreciate a lot!! Keep Rockin'!!

  • dude you rock!i got the same guitar but mine is a copy, is a typhoon and is a copy of yours hehe but it sound really good. keep on rocking man!

  • Hey and thank you very much, I really appreciate! Whatever tool someone uses is just a matter of personal attitude and taste..

in the end it all comes from your heart and fingers, so keep rollin' dude!

  • hey nice playing, a little out of my taste but nice. i just wanted to ask you what the feedback is like on that. i have a semi-hollow body now and it feeds back like crazy (to my dismay).

  • Hey thanx, dude!

I got no problems. Feedback is typical for semi hollow bodies, better ask Ted Nugent how he manages to do it, haha..!

Good Luck and Rock on, dude!

  • what pickups u using?

  • Hi, Gibson Burstbucker1 and 2. Keep rockin'

  • you totally rock, man. you're the only one who can seriously play like zakk. i love your guitars, too!

  • Hi, well you really rock for taking your time to post and writing me those kind words, dude!! I wish you all the very best, thanks again so much and KEEP ROCKIN'!!

  • I dont think they played like that in '58... :)

  • which guitar would be better for rock/metal and generally a heavy sound?prs custom 24 or gibson l.p. custom studio?? i havent tried them yet though:P

  • ..well just play 'em and make up your own mind, I haven't played any of those. Keep rockin'

  • cheers

  • i have a PRS custom 24 and i would say that PRS ALMOST can rock as hard as a les paul but it can also get a great blues and clean sound. PRS has a greater range of sounds but they both sound fantastic. i would prefer a PRS since they are much lighter and amazingly made and get an awesome rock sound.

  • i chose a prs finally.for the same reasons with you vcMalice

  • great man, 5* see my guitar, its rare

  • Thank you very, very much dude for taking your time to post, I really do appreciate a lot!!

    Kindest Regards and ROCK ON!!

  • This sucks zakk wylde turned 41. But great playing

  • !!Happy Birthday to Zakk!!..who cares about age, 41 or 141, Zakk is one of the greatest, ever! He always was and always will be! Glad you enjoy my playing dude,

    keep rockin'

  • gibson les paul studio or american fender tele or strat? like all three, can only get one

  • Well, I just can tell what I say to everyone asking me that question. You should check them out by yourself and make up your own mind, since what works for me might not work 4 you. If you like all 3 it's just a matter of time, when you get em all, so the question should be, which one to get first. All the best and ROCK ON!!

  • thnx man

  • ive been looking at the 57 glodtop vos, the les paul classic, and this one, what one would you recomend??

  • Hi and thanx for your interest, dude.

You should check them out by yourself and make up your own mind, since what works for me might not work 4 you. No matter which one you choose, you cannot do too much wrong. All the best and ROCK ON!

  • That is SOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!! I think I might go out and buy one of those! Thanks for a great vid!

  • Well I have to thank you so much for taking your time to write so kind words to me!

I really do appreciate a lot!

    Thank you very, very much!

  • Thanx dude, ROCK ON!

  • If someone had showed me this video when i had my eyes closed, i would have thought it was zakk. Nice playing.

  • Hi and thank you very, very much for taking your time to write me such nice words dude,

I really do appreciate a lot!!

All the best and ROCK ON !!

  • Hi, I'd rather say main positive inspiration and I thank Zakk from the bottom of my heart for what he gives to me. ROCK ON!
