  • So many don't even have a clue. Keep showing them all TWH's can do! Here's what a TWH = A light horse breed founded in middle Tennessee, the TWH is a mix of the Narragansett & Canadian Pacer, Standardbred, Thoroughbred, Morgan, & American Saddlebred stock.

  • Originally bred as a utility horse, this breed is an ideal mount for riders of all ages & levels of experience. The breed easily adapts to English or Western gear, & its calm, docile temperament combined with naturally smooth & easy gaits insure the popularity of the TWH as the "world's greatest show, trail, & pleasure horse."

  • funny watching the dogs chase after the horse... Good work for starts

  • @moonlit81

It looks like you have your horses going quite well. Kassy seems tolerant of the dogs, but there is not doubt in my mind what she is telling them when she shakes her head at them.

  • your welcome!

  • Great job for busting out of tradition, showing folks it can be done. That one horse can do what the next can despite wh WE want it to. Keep it up, your riding, training and the horse look to be doing very well.

  • Thank you very much for the compliment! We'll keep it up!

  • I luv the jazz music...

  • Thanks, I think it's called "Hoofing it!"

  • Just curious--why do you want a gaited horse to trot? And why a low head set on a naturally high-headed horse? Low head set makes sense on a QH.

  • Good question. The goal is dressage in the Battle of the Breeds. Low headset is only a means to a relaxation technique. The theory the gaits are better without tension in the body. I will try for classical dressage style frame and headset someday. We are studying the dressage training scale of Kurd Albrecht Von Ziegner: Relaxation, Regularity, Freedom, Contact, Straightness & Suppleness.

  • One of the foundation horses for the TWH, a morgan mare had 7 gaits. People have forgotten they can do this. Having trotting gaits, as well, open up new areas to compete.

Dr. Jessica Jahiel says trotting makes them stronger in their running and flat walks. People in the TWH shows will think you are crazy for thinking this way.
