I've been playing guitar for a while but now I've gotten focused in my playing and I've noticed that when I speed up my middle ring and pinky fingers sometimes move up and down involuntarily while moving my other fingers. Sometimes when I play with my ring and pinky finger alot and I'm not using the middle finger I notice it starts flying all over the place, same for the other fingers...

Any tips on what to do?

Everyone!! im teaching myself guitar and just started probly 2 weeks ago. I want to play metal but dont know what i should be learning first. Ive learned some actual songs by looking up tabs but i want to learn actually technique. WHAT SHOULD I LEARN FIRST!!! please help

I started with learning SOME chords, just a few then try wonderboy by tenacious d, helps you get used to the strings and frets :)

You should learn what u want but you have to have limits. Remember to keep in mind that it takes a lot of self disipline to become good. People become discouraged when they rush through stuff and expect everything to come to them. just remember to always play and never rush yourself so your peices dont turn out sloppy.

and get a metronome if u plan on playing with other people or for people:P

well you can start of with the basics. Learn chords (then play songs with those chords). then maybe learn scales and try to create solos with those scales. learn to hold the pick properly and how to hold guitar properly (that should come before anything). also try using a harder pick if you wanna play fast solos (maybe a dunlop Jazz III pick).

try picking all ur fingers on one string so its like 1st finger, then 2nd, then 3rd, then 4th, and repeat for fast speed

sure these are for you, just use your fingers. and im guessing you use the PIMA (i think thats the abbreviation lol) system so try to do some eagles songs to build up speed too

very nice video bob..but I think it's a beginner lesson...I can play 16th notes at 120bpm speed.I would like to increase that upto 160+..I was looking for that kind of video.but anyways, looking forward to the next one! good luck :)
